Utility Breeds, Group & Handling classes

Judge: Lyndsey Jones (Llwyni)

Thank you to the Society for the kind invitation to judge at their show. Even with the carparking issues, the venue is always one of my favourites to attend. All dogs had wonderful temperaments and exhibitors were very sporting. A big shoutout to my wonderful stewards for the day, Jane and Keith, for keeping the ring running smoothly. Thank you to all those who entered their much loved dogs under me.

Junior Handling

6 – 11 years (2,1)

1st Osian Owens, aged 9 handling a Rough Collie. Osian was such a calm and collected handler, and I loved his bond with his dog. He stood his dog well at all times, and moved her at the correct pace. Osian worked well with his dog and knew how to get the best out of her. To improve, I would like Osian to go from the judges feet for his movement. He has a great future ahead in handling – well done Osian!

12 – 16 years (1)

1st Chloe Dixon, aged 15 handling a Parsons Russel Terrier. Chloe had a great overall presentation with her dog today. She had a lovely tidy lead throughout the class and her table work was great. Standing her dog square and correcting her dogs leg when I moved it. Chloe moved her dog at the correct pace and her corners of her triangle were tight. I would like Chloe to have a bit more of a gentle approach in her handling, to work with her dog during the class. Well done Chloe.

Adult Handling

17 – 40 years (1)

1st Charley Lowe handling a German Pinscher. Charley has a great understanding of how to get the best out of her dog. She stayed calm and collected throughout the class and worked well as a team with her dog. Charley had her dog standing square every time I looked over and moved her dog at a good pace. Charley showed the bite well, although did drop her lead for this. Unfortunately, Charley did break the golden rule on her straight up and down by getting in between the dog and the judge. Well done Charley.

40+ Years (3,2)

1st Karen Simpson handling a Skye Terrier. Karen was dressed smartly which complimented her dog. She spoke to her dog throughout the class and stayed calm. Karen stood her dog well on both the floor and the table, she showed the bite precisely and corrected her dogs leg back after I had moved it. To help in future, I would like Karen to move from the judges feet before stepping off for her individual movement, so the judge can clearly see the dogs movement. Well done Karen.
