Judge – Lynda Nicholas (Nickarlyn)

I would thank all exhibitors who showed under me and accepting decisions in a sporting manner. I was a very last-minute replacement judge and wish Wendell Moore all the very best. Weather was somewhat overcast and windy (not the high temp of previous days) and all dogs/exhibitors found the conditions pleasant. It was a fabulous show Avril, committee and band of helpers did a most marvellous job in some exceptionally trying circumstances (that most of us were unaware of).

1 White - Caronlea Celtic Charmer at Joemarlea (IKC) – Australian Shepherd – RES BEST AVNSC/BEST PUPPY AVNSC/P GRP3

7 mths – medium sized, red merle dog. Pleasing masculine head without being overdone with kind expression. Good eye shape, pigmentation harmonises with coat colour. Good body and bone for age and has a smart, balanced, unexaggerated outline. Excellent pasterns and feet. Good width and depth to chest, well off for ribs with broad, strong loin. OK height to length ratio, moderate bone and good core body strength. Moderate angulations and low-set strong hocks ensured he covered the ground well. Presented in correct puppy coat. Confident moving, showing reach and drive.

2 Stevens - Windgunn’s Trigger Point to Ashvens - German Shepherd

Black & Tan dog - lovely youngster. Well coated with strong bone and substance for age (7 mths). Masculine head of good proportions with good stop. Width to skull and strong ear set. Good reach of neck into normal withers and well-placed shoulders with decent return of upper arm. Very good chest development for age. Topline leads into a long, well moulded croup, good hindquarters and correct turn of stifle. Once settled moved with confidence, showing good drive and free front reach whilst retaining a pleasing side gait outline. Sure he will firm up a little as he matures and grows on. Impressive natural stack coming from balanced construction.

3 Cram & Woodford Bowkol Einvala Odyssee – Swedish Valhund

7 mth grey dog. Small and sturdy with good proportions. Nice wedge head with correct eyes and ears that provide typical expression. Level topline, slight tuck-up, standing on well boned legs. Free movement, OK extension and drive. First time in the showring for this pairing demonstrating a great bond – he was keen, alert and wanting to please.

1 Symonds - Morrioghain Pablo – Hungarian Puli

Black dog 14 months with square outline, cording is starting to form but oh my it involves a lot of work. Dark eye, good bite and pigment. Medium neck, good shoulder angulation, depth to chest and adequate spring of rib. Level topline, short loin and matching rear angulation. Tendency to drop tail but remedied once on the move. Co-ordinated balanced movement with accurate footfall.

2 Daly - Whinfoss Kesansoturi (AI) – Finnish Lapphund

Brown Tan & White dog just had first birthday. Well-proportioned presenting a pleasing outline but could benefit from little more bone and substance. Moderately broad skull, correct ear set, eye colour harmonized with coat, expression could be further enhanced with a less round eye. Moderately angulated front and rear with oval feet. Moved freely around the ring though a little close coming towards me. Tended to drop tail but remedied once on the move

BEARDED COLLIE

J (4,1)

Three siblings - 14 mths with jackets typical of age – I am sure that they will swap places time over.

1 Reynolds - Beabeardies Blue Velvet RBOB

Blue. The most mature of the siblings, holding a lovely outline of correct proportions. Broad flat skull, muzzle strong, head in balance. Dark well-placed eyes gave soft expression with just a glint of naughtiness. Good reach of neck into well laid shoulder & return of upper arm. Sufficient spring to rib of good length and depth to brisket. Firm topline held on the move. Well-muscled hindquarters with strong short hocks. Once settled moved out covering the ground with ease with a free and easy gait with minimum foot lift. Sympathetically handled to get the best out of him.

2 Mitchell Beabeardies Grace Kelly

Black/white. Not the maturity of brother but the same lovely outline and proportions. Feminine head with pleasing skull, expressive dark eyes, moderate stop. Slight arch to neck, level backline, ribbing carried well back, correct croup and tail set. Good angulation front and rear. A little enthusiastic on the move but true up/back and when concentrating has a lovely side gait coming from her correct angles and carriage.

Slate boy of good size, correct proportions with good quality jacket. Broad backskull, well placed moderate stop, good eye and strength to muzzle provide for a masculine expression. Body balanced throughout, Level topline and enough ribbing. Matching front/rear angulations. Decent turn of stifle and short below hock Standing on good legs and feet. Dark obliquely set almond eye and nicely tipped ears used to advantage to enhance expression. Length to neck and correct height/length ratio. Needing time to mature and drop into frame. Correct bone for size with decent pasterns and feet. Matched front and rear angulations. Full of puppy exuberance that added to his charm. Topline held throughout with well set/carried tail. 1 Naulls – Wynele Obsession RBOB
