Hound Breeds and BIS

AV Hound Puppy Stakes Dog (4,1)

1. Reynolds’ Favorite One Evitapearl Glenariff (Imp POL). Long-haired Dachshund. Masculine dog, strong enough, good overall proportions, fairly well balanced and ribbed, very sound up and down.

2. Kearney & Maguire’s Bankend Where’s Me Jumper. Whippet. An upstanding and generous dog. Needs to settle in front movement and gain some condition to finish the picture but admired his overall proportions and carriage on the move.

3. Arrell’s Blevwil Frizz Kee Kevin at Heaphen CPW25.

AV Hound Puppy Stakes Bitch (4,0)

1. Hunter’s Mossbawnhill Tick Tick Boom. Whippet. Quality, feminine, and dare I say pretty, bitch of a lovely size and shape. Admired her head proportions, ears and pigment. Would like more spring to pastern. Full of curves which she holds on the move, sound mover. Best Puppy in Show.

2. Thompson’s Barnesmore Ooh La La. Whippet. Scores in neck and front, deep chested with pleasing top and underline, a little too generous in hind angulation. Covers ground on the move with good width up and down, even if the front needs to settle somewhat.

3. Kearney & Maguire’s Bankend Chasing Rainbows.

AV Hound Veteran Stakes (4,3)

1. Patton’s Ir Ch Vandor-Vadasz Banza (Imp HUN). 9 year old Miniature Wire-Haired Dachshund in super form. Excellent overall proportions and super balance. Scored in neck and has decent front construction. Level topline. A touch weak in hock though moved with correct width.

AV Hound Champion Stakes (5,3)

1. Fletcher & Short’s Ir Ch Collooney We’ve Got This IrJrCh. Whippet. Superb male full of quality. Head and expression to die for and well constructed throughout. A little too eager on the move but so obviously sound and balanced in action. He is an excellent example of the breed.

2. Reynolds’ Glenariff Xavier. Miniature Smooth-Haired Dachshund. Lovely head on this boy, masculine and balanced with correct eye shape and well set ears. Long in neck. Excels in profile movement with a long and balanced stride.

Basset Fauve De Bretagne Junior (1)

1. Arrell’s Blevwil Frizz Kee Kevin at Heaphen CPW25. Much more settled and focused on the move in this class than previous stakes class, regardless, I admired his temperament. Typical head and eaye. Well made front and forelegs. Would like a touch more ribbing though liked his overall body proportions.

Basset Fauve De Bretagne Open Bitch (2,1)

1. Blevins’ Blevwil Lookin Smart. Excellent for overall proportions, balance and outline. Would like a touch more return of upper arm. A little unsure of herself but got there in the end and was super sound and active on the move. BOB.

Basset Hound Open Dog (1)

1. Blevins’ Bromp Ronnie Smart at Blevwil. A strong, sturdy and undoubtedly quality dog who impressed for overall proportions and attitude. Handsome head of correct proportions, well made all through with very good ribbing. Great strength to his rear which he totally uses on the move going on a free, balanced and purposeful stride. BOB and ultimately BIS.

Borzoi Open Bitch (1)

1. Thompson’s Ir Ch Barnesmore Firebird. Really attractive bitch with a lovely headpiece, dark eye and small well-shaped ears. Lovely strong neck of super length into excellent front angulation, balanced by her rear. Would like a touch more length of leg. Shapely outline. Moved really well in all directions. BOB and Group 3.

Dachshund (Long-Haired) Open (3,2)

1. Reynolds’ Favorite One Evitapearl Glenariff (Imp POL).

Dachshund (Wire-Haired) Open Dog (2,1)

1. Monteith’s Lesandnic Lionel. Very pleasing in type and appearance with typical proportions, outline and coat texture. Loved his head which was masculine and balanced. Scored in neck and shoulder. To be critical, would like a touch more length of upper arm and spring of rib. Moved positively in all directions. BOB.

Dachshund (Wire-Haired) Open Bitch (3,1)

1. Patton’s Lesandnic Love. Unsurprising to find she is litter sister to the winner of the last class, very similar in overall appearance. Beautiful feminine head and expression. She shares many positive similarities with her brother, but she is not quite as firm in topline or positive on the move.

2. Orr’s Lesandnic Simple Verse. Another familiar look to this bitch, very much appreciated the proportions/ground clearance of all exhibits from this kennel. Better topline than 1 but not the ribbing or strength in the rear. Moved well when viewed from the front and side.

Dachshund (Miniature Smooth-Haired) Limit (1)

1. Morrison’s Benzden Kouros. Pleasing head and underjaw. Fair front, excellent forechest, good depth of chest and spring of rib, though ribbing could have been carried further back. Moved ok.

Dachshund (Miniature Smooth-Haired) Open Dog (2,1)

1. Reynolds’ Glenariff Xavier

Dachshund (Miniature Smooth-Haired) Open Bitch (3,1)

1. Blevins’ Blevwil Trixie IrJrCh. Super balance and outline on this bitch. Feminine head and dark eye. Well off for neck, well made front and scores for depth and width throughout, firm in outline standing and moving. Impressed on the move with a fairly long stride and moving positive up and down. BOB.

2. Reynolds’ Glenariff Zodiac Princess. Just out of puppy and understandably less mature than 1, needs time to fill out and settle somewhat. She has a lovely flow of outline with good proportions and covers plenty ground in profile on the move.

Dachshund (Miniature Wire-Haired) Open (4,2)

1. Patton’s Meetinghouse Magic. Thought her perhaps up to size but all in proportion with a very good outline. Pleasing head and eye. Super topline held on the move, where she is balanced and free but a touch wide coming towards today. BOB

2. Morrison’s Benzden Paradoxe. Better for size, totally feminine throughout with a pleasing expression. Well balanced fore and aft and expected her to move well but would not cooperate today.

AV Imported Breed Register Hound Open Dog (1)

1. Webster’s Opus D’Ambre De Chassagne avec Dalmarno (Imp FRA). Has good proportions and outline stacked, though would prefer him to hold it better on the move. Handsome head with low set ears and good length of neck. Would prefer better overall construction of front and legs. Not very willing on the move today.

AV Imported Breed Register Hound Open Bitch (1)

1. Webster’s Oceane D’An Naoned avec Dalmarno (Imp FRA) Ir/BeJrCh. Perhaps up to size for a bitch but maintained balance with a pleasing outline. Better made with good neck into shoulder and balanced rear. She was much more positive on the move than her kennelmate to take Best Import Register.
