Yeovil & District Canine Society

Breed: Open Show - Several Breeds

Yeovil & District Canine Society

Sunday 4th May 2025

Thank you to the society for the kind invitation. I was made to feel very welcome and received excellent hospitality throughout the day. A special thank you to my wonderful steward, who was both competent and a pleasure to work with.

The grass was a little long, whichh posed a challenge for some exhibits, and I think we all took a few hours to warm up afterwards—but at least it didn’t rain!

Thank you to everyone who entered. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and appreciated the opportunity to go over such lovely dogs.

Pomeranian

Class 185 – Junior

1st – 279 – French, Mrs, Mr & Miss – Bincombefarm’s The Kneazle

13-month-old, very pretty. Compact and moved out well, maintaining her shape and balance despite the challenging surface. Beautifully square with real breed expression and good bone. She coped admirably with the long grass, showing confidence and composure for her age.

2nd – 283 – Lovell, Miss A – Pawsamy’s Hank Summer Dream

11-month-old puppy, very sweet and full of promise. Unfortunately, her movement was difficult to assess as she was unsettled by the long grass and began hopping, which impacted her performance on the day.

Class 156 – Graduate

1st – 280 – French, Mrs, Mr & Miss – Norvanik EastEnders Boi

Absolutely stunning male with a super square outline and oozing breed type. His movement was a joy to watch – sound and purposeful. A cracking rear end and neat, small feet, with a straight front to complete the picture. Everything I love in a Pomeranian. Delighted to award him Best of Breed.

2nd – 286 – Lovell, Miss A – Reubicia Topaz at Pawsamy

A sweet girl with much to like. Slightly longer in outline than the winner and presented in a glamorous coat. The flapping tent and wind seemed to unsettle her, affecting her overall performance.

Class 157 – Open

1st – 281 – French, Mrs, Mr & Miss – Christmas Norvanik Gold Smith at Bincombefarm JW

A classy male, compact and full of quality. He moved out well, with excellent bone and a beautiful coat – groomed to perfection. Particularly admired his small, neat ears and true fox-like expression. A pleasure to award him Reserve Best of Breed.

2nd – 284 – Lovell, Miss A – Pawsamy’s Rose JW

Pretty girl who moved out well and showed lovely breed attributes. Unlucky to meet the winner today, but she has much to commend her.

11-month-old black and white bitch who immediately commands attention with her striking outline. Displays exceptional breed type with an elegant frame and impressive muscular development. Best front assembly in the class, with well-angled hindquarters offering excellent drive. Beautiful, feminine head – balanced and expressive. Exudes grace and power. Easy decision for Best of Breed.

2nd – 176 – Howard, Mrs H J – Decoda’s Treasure Chest

7-month-old of a finer, racier type. Moved with purpose and drive, showing great promise. Though less mature and powerful than the first, she is elegant and well made. A promising youngster.

Class 101 – Graduate

1st – 175 – D’Allen, Miss – Kingshaka Brown Sugar

Pretty, smaller-framed bitch who impressed with her balance and poise. Attentive to her handler and moved cleanly and purposefully. Well-laid shoulders and a strong rear gave good reach and fluidity. A tidy package – Reserve Best of Breed.

2nd – 179 – Saunders, Miss C – Popkingsway Lady of Dreams at Giffwinnoah

Larger-framed but still feminine. Structurally sound and well made, though I preferred the compactness and movement of the winner. A quality exhibit with many admirable features.

Class 102 – Open

1st – 178 – Saunders, Miss C – Hafwenna House of Stark at Giffwinnoah

A powerful, masculine male with great substance. Good head, strong bone and commanding presence. Slightly narrow in front but made up for it with a strong rear. Plenty to admire in this dog.

Pretty girl with excellent breed type. Moved freely with purpose. Super eye and ear set, and well presented.

Feminine bitch, slightly longer in body than the winner. Preferred a higher ear set for balance. Movement was okay, though she was somewhat affected by the grass.
