Newark & District Canine Society

Breed: Dalmatian

Newark and District canine Society open show 23.2.25

Many thanks to the committee of Newark and District canine society for the invitation to judge Dalmatians at their open show. The ring was of sufficient size to assess movement effectively. Thank you to my ring steward who kept things flowing smoothly and a big thank you to all the exhibitors who brought their lovely dogs and for the good sportsmanship that was evident throughout judging, this made for a lovely atmosphere. The dogs all showed sound temperament, however the loud noise from the large doors when opened may have unfortunately been off putting to some dogs.

Puppy 5 (2a)

1st Green & Sears Mrs J.S & Mrs J.A. Shydally Golden star over Judally. 9-month-old black spotted dog. He is very eye catching and has a super temperament. He looked a picture on the stand, good overall outline and attractive decoration. His head is masculine whilst also elegant, good length of neck, well defined withers flowing into a good firm topline, correct tail set and carriage. He has moderate angulation fore and aft. Well off for bone and is muscling well for his age but still has some developing to do. He has nice cat-like feet with well arched toes. On the move he was a little over excited but is a natural showman and demonstrated good reach and drive covering the ground with ease. He has a bright future ahead. BPIB

2nd Hobbs & Whiting Miss C. & Ms M. Rapanooey Ribbons and Bows. 10-month-old black spotted female. She has a pretty feminine head with good ear carriage, correct body proportions and moderate bone. Well-muscled for her age, good spring of rib, correct tail set and carriage. She is well schooled and very attentive to her handler. On the move she showed good reach and drive and was true in all directions.

Junior 6 (2a)

1st Stubbins Mrs R. & Mr S. Perdita Bean a Stormy Ride. 1 yr old black spotted female. Very pretty female with attractive spotting. Feminine head of good proportions, good ear carriage which she used to her advantage. Good length of neck, well defined withers, firm topline. She is finer in bone than some and is on the lean side, but she is well proportioned and balanced. A very happy showgirl, she powered round the ring covering the ground with ease.

2nd Hobbs and Whiting Miss C. & Ms M. Joubello Freedom with Rapanooey. 11-month-old black spotted boy. Heavier spotted than 1 and longer in loin. He has an excellent temperament and was definitely enjoying his day. Masculine head, good reach of neck, firm topline which he held well, correct tail set and carriage. He has nicely tight, cat-like feet with well arched toes. An enthusiastic mover, he covered the ground showing good reach and drive.

Post-graduate 4 (1a)

1st Kembrey Ms M. Dalmark’s Rhythm and Blues. 3 yr old liver spotted dog. Quality, very well put together dog. He presents a pleasing and balanced outline on the stand and shown in excellent hard muscular condition. Masculine head, correct amber eye with a kind expression. Good arch to neck, well defined withers, firm topline, good depth of chest and spring of rib. He certainly looked fit to run all day. On the move he has a lovely striding action and pushed hard for BOB but was a little erratic at times which cost him the top honour today. I learned later he is the nephew of BOB. RBOB

2nd Stubbins Mrs R. & Mr S. Perdita’s Aurelia. 5yr old black spotted female. Nicely decorated, clean spotting on a clear white background. She has a pretty feminine head, good length of neck, firm topline, correct tail set and carriage, moderately angulated. She is finer in build. On the stand she was not happy, possibly due to some rather loud ring side noise. On the move she was happier and demonstrated good reach and drive.
