Greenland Dog

I was very pleased with the overall quality of the Greenland Dogs presented. Powerful, well-constructed dogs, presenting a clear picture of a true Arctic working breed built for endurance and strength under demanding conditions. Temperament was a notable strength, displaying the expected confident, bold, and composed outlook, combined with a good-natured and approachable demeanour. Type was generally very good, with most dogs exhibiting the correct proportions and substance, and a strong, compact outline. The marked distinction between dogs and bitches was evident in many exhibits and contributed positively to overall breed type. Hindquarters were, in many cases, particularly commendable, with broad, well-muscled thighs, good bend of stifle, and well-let-down hocks, supporting strength and drive. Bone and substance were appropriate, and overall construction suggested the capability required for sustained work. Coats were, correct in texture and density, providing the necessary protection for harsh climates, and overall presentation reflected a functional rather than exaggerated type. Importantly, most exhibits conveyed the essential working character of the breed, with an appearance that reflected their purpose as tireless sled dogs.

P (1,0) 1 Godfrey Derek of Nordic Dreams A’ Namora BP An energetic six-month-old puppy with attractive markings and a very pretty, feminine expression. Overall, she felt well constructed for her age, with developing substance and a pleasing outline. Full of enthusiasm, she was somewhat difficult to assess on the day, particularly on the move, as she is clearly still learning her ring craft; however, she showed glimpses of strength and coordination consistent with the breed. A lively, good-natured youngster with plenty of promise, and I would look forward to seeing her again with greater maturity and steadiness.

SpY (1,0) 1 Blaney Nipnattens Strong Avaalaqiakulooq Fenrirkin (imp Nor) BOB A well-proportioned young male presenting a strong, masculine head with powerful jaws in keeping with the breed. He showed good substance and balance throughout, with a compact, well-muscled body and overall construction indicative of a dog built for freighting capacity. On the move, he demonstrated good drive with limbs moving parallel and a level back, maintaining strength and efficiency. A well-balanced and typical exhibit, combining power, structure, and correct breed character, making him a deserving Best of Breed.

L (1,0) 1 Godfrey Dena of Nordic Dreams U’ Strike A very well put together young female, presenting a strong, balanced and compact outline in keeping with the breed’s requirement for power and endurance. She showed good substance and bone, with a well-developed body and overall construction indicative of a dog capable of sustained work. On the move, she demonstrated purposeful, efficient action with good drive, maintaining a level back and moving in parallel, clearly fit for function. I particularly appreciated her thick, dense coat of correct texture and her well-set, bushy tail, completing the picture of a typical Arctic working dog. A quality exhibit and a deserving win.
