Midlands Border Collie Club

Midlands Border Collie Club - SAC

15th March 2025

Thanks to the Club for the opportunity to judge these classes, and what has to be said, the most thoughtful judging gift I have ever received.

Dentition of all my placed dogs were assessed as correct, complete and clean so I have not commented on this individually.

SA Junior D/B (3,0)

1st Tobermoray Touch of Class

12 month male who, like his name, possesses a touch of class. Clean head to go over with suitable breadth to skull and correct 50/50 skull to foreface proportion. Distinct stop, correctly shaped kind oval eye. He has strength to his neck which broadens over his shoulder. Strong in body and bone, his front is straight and well made with good width to chest. His fore and aft angulations were complementary and moved out well with minimum lift of feet, which were correct oval shaped. Well presented.

2nd Altricia Day Dream

A beautiful 8mth bitch who lost out to 1st based largely on development of her head and ring maturity at this stage. I really liked her. Her head is developing well but has yet to broaden. Beautiful harmonious eye set well and with a touch of mischief. Ear set well apart and mobile. Beautiful expression. Spirit level topline gentle sloping croup and her tail was well set and carried. She has suitable width to her front and moved around the ring demonstrating a smooth easy gait. Coat texture was correct.

3rd Nashdom Whispering Angel

SA Post Grad D/B (6,0)

1st Tambuzi Ride the Storm

2yr maturing male. Head was of desired width and had defined stop. In profile he had depth to his muzzle. Correctly shaped eye and of good dark colour. Ears were correctly set and used to advantage. Strong neck, of decent length and desired broadening to the shoulder. Level topline. His hocks were well let down and dark markings went all the way to the feet and on the move can throw the eye but not incorrect at all. Tail well set and carried.

2nd Borderbrook Stolen Affair

Another maturing male, 22 mths. Broad skull as required, in profile he appeared a little shorter in muzzle than 1st and shorter in neck giving a more compact overall appearance. Ears wide set and held semi erect. Sweet eye. Held and carried a level topline, pleasing croup with tail just to the hock. On the move, carried himself low and level with minimum lift of foot.

3rd Amkamel Half Blood Prince JW

SA Open D/B (11,0)

Really enjoyed this class and the opportunities and challenges it presented to me. So lovely to have such a number to assess.

1st Sh CH Tambuzi Girlz on Fire JW

4yr bitch who was a pleasure to go over. Elegant head, correctly in proportion. From distinct stop, muzzle slightly tapers to the blackest of noses. Oval eye harmonizing in colour and with ears set wide and a ¼ tip, and used to advantage, all aids to an expression I hoped to see. Of good bone, she had a good layback of shoulder, parallel front and rear when viewed and stood perfect 4 square. Level topline, her length to coat visibly detracted from her athletic body shape but hands do not lie and her rib and loin were in proportion. Moved out well and covered the ground with ease.

2nd Caleykiz Passion for Power

A 2yr old bitch who was feminine all through. On the go over, her skull to muzzle proportions were pleasing, a dark and well shaped eye full of liveliness. So intent and eager to ‘get going’. Her ears were correctly set, well proportioned to her head and very mobile. Athletic in appearance she excelled on the move, propelling herself around the ring, all in balance she held her topline and just ate the ground up. Could watch all day.
