Critique for Royal Welsh Agricultural Show Dog Section. Thanks to the Committee for the invitation to judge at their show on 18th May 2025 and to the stewards who kept the ring running smoothly in the heat. It was a beautiful day with very little breeze, almost too hot for the dogs which I felt affected movement. I saw a few incorrect mouths but overall I was happy with my winners. Thank you to the exhibitors for bring your dogs under me and for the sporting acceptance of my decisions. (American Cockers) PG (1-0) 1st Edwards, Moonmist I Spy Wilbur, D, Black & Tan. He has a nice head of correct proportions of muzzle to skull with large nose and wide nostrils, dark eyes and low set ears. Strong neck set into well laid shoulders. He has good depth to his brisket and he is short coupled. His topline is lovely running in a smooth line from nicely arched neck through to well carried tail. He moved out well round the ring. BoB OP (1-0) 1st Edwards, Afterglow Bang Tidy, Black, D, He is a mature boy with correct proportions to his head with wide nostrils and dark eyes, his ears are low set. His neck is strong and slightly arched neck set into good shoulders. He has good depth to his brisket and short coupled. Moved okay. (Hungarian Vizsla) PG No Entries Op No Entries. (Pointer) PG (2-0) 1st Swannell, Sharnphilly Black Abbott, D, Black & White, This boy has a lovely head with a big nose and wide nostrils, His eyes are dark and correct set on ears. His neck is long and slightly arched leading to good shoulders and he has good bone and lovely feet. He is well ribbed back to slight arch to loin. His hindquarters are well muscled and his hocks are short. He moved well round the ring. BoB 2nd, Fleetwood, Sonham Just Perfect. B, Liver & White. This bitch has a lovely feminine head with wide nostrils, dark eye and well set on ears. She has a long neck with a slight arched running into well angled shoulders. She has correct depth to her brisket with good bone and nice feet. Her ribs are well sprung and carried well back to slightly arched loin. She has good hindquarters and well let down hocks. I just preferred the movement of the 1st on the day. I liked her. BP OP (1-0) 1ST, Crowhurst, Raigmore Faith Restored. B. Lemon & White. She has a lovely head with eye colour in keeping with coat colour and wide nostrils. She has a long neck set into good shoulders and decent bone. Her ribs are well sprung and carried well back to slight arch through loin. Her hindquarters are good and her hocks are well let down. I would prefer her to carry a little less condition (Field Spaniels) PG No Entries OP (4-1) 1st, Shipton, Heartwood Mishules all is Possible with Calico (imp USA). B. Black & Tan. She has a head of correct proportion with wide nostrils and dark eyes. Her tan markings are well defined and good colour. She has a good front and bone with nice feet. Her depth to brisket is good and her well sprung ribs are carried well back. She has a good hind end that is well muscled and short hocks. She moved well. BoB 2nd, Shipton. Bel Ch Broomeece Firecracker over Mishules BW24. D. This boy has a nice head with correct proportions, dark eye and wide nostrils, low set ears. He has a moderately long and strong neck and the angles on his forehand are good. The depth to his brisket is good and has moderate spring to his ribs which are carried well back to loin. He has moderate bend to his stifle and short hocks. He moved okay. (Clumber Spaniels) PG (2-0) 1st, Langridge, Badgersmoon Next Edition. D. His head is of correct proportions with nice amber eyes and slight freckling on muzzle and ears. He has moderate length to his powerful neck and a good front assembly. His well sprung ribs are carried well back to strong loin and low set tail. Moved okay. 2nd, Tilston, Maursett Menalaus, D He has a nice head and moderate length to powerful neck. He has good front angles with well sprung ribs and short strong loin. I preferred the movement of the 1st on the day. OP (2-0) 1st Langridge, Badgersmoon She’s Quinivere. B. She has a nice head with slight freckling on her nose and ember eyes. She has a good strong moderate neck, decent shoulders and good bone. She has good depth to brisket and is well ribbed back to short strong loin. She has moderate bend to stifle and short hocks. Moved okay. 2nd, Tilston. Stonielea Toast. D He has a good head with correct proportion. His neck is moderately strong and he has good front angles with well sprung ribs and short strong loin. I preferred the movement of 1st on the day. (Sussex Spaniels) PG No Entries OP No Entries (English Setters) PG (5-0) 1st Danks-Kemish, Littlechild & Littlechild. D Ravensett Just an Illusion with Alolfrana. D. Orange Belton. Lovely head with correct proportion of muzzle to skull and pronounced occiput. He has wide nostrils and lovely dark eyes and low set ears. His moderately long neck is powerful and set into good shoulders. The angulation to his front quarters is good with good bone and depth to brisket is good. His ribs are well sprung and carried well back to strong slightly arched loin. His hindquarters are good with well muscled first and second thigh and hocks well let down. He powered his way round the ring. I was informed that this win gave him his last point to JW (subject to RKC approval). I loved him. BoB. I was pleased to see that he was Gundog grp1 and RBiS. Many congratulations. 2nd, Lowes, Frennisett Rhydwen. B. Blue Belton. A lovely head on this bitch with dark eyes, wide nostrils and low set ears. She has good shoulder placement and good bone. She has well sprung ribs and arched loin and her hocks are well let down. Moved okay. OP (4-2) 1st Thomas. Kenietter Sarka. D Blue Belton. This dog has a nice head with dark eyes and low set ears. His neck is long letting into decent shoulder placement. The angulation to his front is good with enough spring to his ribs leading to arched loin. His hindquarters angulation is good, first and second thigh are well muscled. He moved well. 2nd Lewis. Alolfrana Mississippi B. Pretty feminine head on this bitch with dark eyes and low set ears, wide nostrils. She has a moderately long neck. She has sell sprung ribs leading to arch to loin. Moved Okay. (Bracco Italiano) PG (1-0) 1st. Kestin. Woodlandblue Mama Mia at Talyfan. B. Her head is of proper shape with low set ears, eyes of correct colour and pronounced occiput. Her neck is strong and she has good front quarters. She has good depth to her brisket, arched loin and correct topline with slight rise to croup. Her hindquarters are good with enough bend to her stifle. She moved well round the ring. BoB. OP (1-0) 1st. Kestin. Talyfan Affogato. D. Correct head on this boy. His neck is strong and ribs are well sprung with slight arch to loin. His hind quarters are decent. He moved well. (Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever) PG (1-0) 1st. Boyd, Skysaria Flame (JW) D. He has a lovely head with eyes and nose colour in keeping with his coat colour. His front and rear angles are good as is his well sprung ribs and muscular loin. He move well round the ring keeping his level topline. BoB OP No Entries (German Shorthaired Pointer) PG (1-1) OP (5-3) 1st. Taylor & Thomas. B. Pingarypoint Puzzled at Knabynnus. She has a lovely head, a long neck and good layback of shoulders, good bone and feet, good depth to brisket and well sprung ribs, arched loin, good angles to her hindquarters and well let down hocks. Moved well. BoB 2nd. Whitaker. Pingarypoint Milk Shake (ShCex) B. Another bitch with a nice head. She has a moderately long neck set into good shoulders with good angles front and rear. She has good spring to her ribs and arched loin. Moved okay. (German Wirehaired Pointer) PG (1-0) 1st. Jones, Germanus Makin a Point (AI) D. He has a nice head and dark eye. His neck is moderately long letting into nice layback of shoulder. He has good depth to his brisket and spring of ribs. He is well muscled in first and second thigh and short hocks. His coat is correct, thick and harsh. OP (2-1) 1st. Jones. Germanus Dutch Delight. B. She has a nice head with correct proportions, moderate neck and good layback of shoulder with good bone and feet. She has nice depth to her brisket and well sprung ribs. The angles on her hindquarters are correct with short hocks. Her coat is thick and harsh. She moved well round the ring. BoB.
