Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge this prestigious show and to my stewards for a well-run ring. Thank you to the exhibitors for your support and entry, it was a lovely day, and I was very pleased with the quality of my main winners. Irish setters Puppy 3 (1) 1. Foster’s Ixia Boys Don’t Cry At Shanoah Balanced headpiece, long and lean. He is refined yet holds his masculinity, with a dark eye and soft expression, good work and chiselling through his foreface already. Super reach of neck into correct lay-back of shoulder, balanced fore and aft with lovely width to his rear quarters. Lush dark coat coming through. Together on the move in side profile, just needs to tighten at the rear and strengthen his hocks as he matures on. BP. 2. Marsden’s Shelindair Chocolate Box A moderate young bitch who will take time, a month younger and not as mature as first, would prefer more bone at this stage. Pretty and balanced head with low set-ears, she possesses a good reach of neck, and straight front with good angulation. Moderate bend of stifle as she should at this age, although would prefer more width and muscle to her thighs. Tight arched feet and good tail action as she moved steadily. Special Yearling 5 (3) 1. Roger’s Clonageera Summer Magic This bitch was hard to fault today, pretty headpiece with dark eye and knowing expression with chiselled foreface. Excels in forechest with an excellent feel to her sternum, whilst standing on good bone with neat feet. Well-made, very balanced fore and aft. Lovely spring of rib and firm loin. She was having fun on the move today, but her positive, free-flowing movement with correct footfall was still easy to see whilst holding her topline. RBOB. 2. Harris’ Fairhaven Young Soul For Konakaela (Imp Swe) JW Slightly younger than first and just lost out on maturity and collectedness on the move today. Up to size male with gorgeous headpiece, lovely oval skull, with low-set ears in a neat tidy fold close to his head. Muscular neck leading cleanly into well-laid-back shoulder and sloping topline. Excellent width to first and second thigh, just needs to steady his rear action coming and going on the move which will come with time. Post Graduate 3 (1) 1. Roger’s Clonageera Summer Magic Repeat. 2. Mason’s Cataluna Mad About You Finity She possesses parallel head planes with correct stop, lovely dark eye and nostrils wide, with low-set ears and a classic crest to her neck. Moderate all through with good balance fore and aft, although a little straight in stifle. Steady, positive movement coming and going, complete with lashing tail action. Holds her topline on the move although a little steep in croup. Open 5 (3) 1. Edwards’ Copper’s Get Off My Cloud By Bonhomie (Imp Swe) Two-year old masculine dog presented here in hard muscular condition. Totally balanced and moderate all through, with no exaggeration. Lovely reach of neck fitting cleaning into well-laid-back shoulder, ample forechest with straight front and plenty of bone. Gently sloping topline, ample spring of rib, and excels in width across his quarters. Gleaming coat and moved well, thank you for bringing him and congratulations on his title. BOB. 2. Foster’s Goldnarvam Endurance To Shanoah Eight-year old dog, belies his age, very impressive on the stack, with gleaming rich, dark coat. Just let down by his headpiece which needs more stop and a tighter eye. Balanced and racy all through with well-made front and rear construction. Fabulous topline, well ribbed back and firm loin. Moved well in side profile but needs to tidy coming and going.
