Coton De Tulear Club of the United Kingdom

The Coton De Tulear Club Uk

Open Show 29th March 2025

Judge: Miss L Tarabad (Khatibi)

It was a tremendous honour to be asked to judge this Breed Club show and I wish to extend my sincere congratulations to everyone involved in the breed on the recent announcement that they have finally been granted CC status...not before time! I first judged the breed almost 20 years ago and over the years I have always been impressed with the quality of the dogs and the immaculate presentation, this entry was no exception. Temperaments were a delight and the exhibitors were great, accepting my decisions sportingly and with great support for each other. Finally, a big thank you to the committee and my stewards for running a lovely show and for the beautiful gift.

1st:MILTON, Mr P & Mrs A Majesticoton Beethoven. 13month old, beautifully presented and well conditioned youngster of nice balance and typical shape. Handsome, well proportioned head with lovely dark eyes, dense pigment and strong jaw. Strong arched neck, lovely chest and ribbing, good topline and well constructed rear. Moved with accuracy out and back, maintaining his outline in profile and circling the ring with an easy action when he settled. In beautiful coat of the correct texture. Still has some maturing to do but impressed me enough in the challenge to take RBD.

2nd: CHESHIRE, Mrs Janet Paw-wow's Prince Vincent F. Saga And Scottie. Another 13month old but not as well developed as 1 yet. Soundly constructed but could firm in front and needs to develop in chest and ribbing as he matures. Sweet face with well balanced length of muzzle, good pigment and strong jaw. Nice size and moving freely, presented in good coat.

1st: HARRIS, Mrs Lisa Mopseyscoton Raci Remi At Cotonamour. Nearing 2yrs old and of a lovely size and type, I see now he is the litter brother of the bis winner. Lovely head properties, slightly rounded skull of good width, slight stop, dark expressive eyes, good length of muzzle and good underjaw. Adequate reach of neck into decent shoulders, good chest and ribbing, correct topline and tail carriage. Beautifully presented coat of the correct texture and free moving holding his outline well.

2nd: CHESHIRE, Mrs Janet Cukoton Hiawatha. 4yr old with the most delightful temperament. Pleasing head and expression with good pigment, dark round eyes, slight stop and well set ears. Soundly constructed with good front and rear assembly, well sprung ribs and strong loin. Moved well.

1st: CAMPBELL SMITH, Mrs Lorna Cotontop Peter Pan. Nice size 3yr old of good balance with correct topline and tailset. Moderate reach of neck, a little narrow in front, good spring of rib and strong loin with strong, correctly angulated rear. Masculine head of good proportions with well spaced, round eyes, good pigment and strong jaw. Moved smartly, could be better coming towards but uses his rear well and holds his outline firm in profile. In quality coat presented beautifully.

1st: PEARMAN, Mrs Jane E & GILL, Mrs H Cotonroyal Mccoy The Real Deal. One I have judged and appreciated as a youngster and my opinion hasn’t changed now seeing him as a fully mature adult. As always from this exhibitor presentation was flawless with beautifully presented coat, well conditioned body and expert handling. Masculine head with intelligent expression, correctly shaped with well balanced length of muzzle, good underjaw, good pigmentation and well spaced round eyes. Strong arched neck, good forechest, well sprung ribs, good bone and substance, moderately angulated rear and correct topline and tail carriage. Moved freely and accurately holding his outline firm as he circled the ring. I thought he was an easy choice for BD. He later also took RBIS and BOS.

2nd: MURRAY, Mrs J A Cukoton Shot In The Dark. Slightly smaller 3yr old who presents a nicely balanced, typical outline in profile. Not quite the ribbing or forechest of 1, consequently a little narrow moving towards but good away and looks good in profile. Arched neck of good length, good topline and underline, moderately angulated, well muscled rear. Sweet face with good pigment, dark eyes and well set ears.

Two Veterans to be proud of!

1st: CLARKE, Mrs Cathy M Int Ch Bel Ch NL Ch Cotonkiss Heaven Help Us Nlw'. Very soundly constructed 8yr old still in wonderful coat and super condition. Masculine head with good pigment, dark round eyes, straight muzzle with strong jaw. Strong arched neck, good front and rear assembly, correct topline maintained on the move, good bone and substance and well set and carried tail. I’d like a bit less of him overall but he is well balanced and typical in outline. BVIS

2nd: MILTON, Mr P & Mrs A Cotonkiss Frozen Xplosion. Smaller dog nearing 10years old, again a credit to his owner carrying a well presented coat of the correct texture and moving very well especially out and back. Soundly constructed with ample reach of neck, good topline and underline, good bone and substance for size and well muscled rear. Such a sweet face with dense pigment, lovely dark expressive eyes and good length of muzzle, earset could be a little better. Had to make way for the ‘youngster’ here who was a little more on his toes.

1st: HARRIS, Mrs Lisa Mopseyscoton Dinki Dynomit. The only puppy entered at the show but it’s about quality not quantity and this little 11month old is certainly that! I see she is another that has the same sire as the bis winner and her beautiful mother was bob last time I judged. I can certainly see the family resemblance, ultra feminine with super balance to her outline, strong neck, super chest and ribbing for age, lovely front and rear assembly and good bone. Gorgeous head and expression, slightly rounded and of good width, slight stop, straight muzzle of good length and good underjaw. Very smart on the move, super out and back and covers the ground easily in profile. Already in plenty of quality coat with the best yet to come! BPIS and I saw she also took BPIS at UK Toy at the end of a very long day for her, many congratulations.

1st: CRAIK, Ms Lesley Mopseyscoton Cutti Cooki. Another very sweet feminine coton from this breeder who is good for size and shape with moderate reach of neck, good chest and ribbing, nice topline and tailset. Very pretty face with expressive dark round eyes, lovely pigmentation, strong jaw and well set ears. Moved freely just a little close behind.

1st: GOLDEN, Miss K A Cukoton Girl On Fire. 2yr old daughter of the BVB winning here on her more accurate movement especially out and back. Nice for size and presented in good coat with strong neck into good shoulders, straight front with good chest and ribbing, moderately angulated rear with tail set and carried correctly. Correctly shaped head of good balance with nice eyes, well set ears and strong jaw. Moved freely and accurately just losing her topline at times.

2nd:  CRAIK, Ms Lesley Mopseyscoton Bubbli Bunni. A touch smaller and not quite the chest and rib of 1 so rather narrow in front but a lovely type and appealing balance to her outline with quality coat to enhance it. Very pretty face with lovely dark round eyes and dense pigmentation. Moved happily but not as good as 1 out and back.

3rd: SCOTT, Mrs & Mr J & S Cukoton Don't Cry Daddy

1st: PEARMAN, Mrs Jane E Mopseyscoton Fanci Fizzi. The star of the day and she won top honours with room to spare. Immaculately presented 20month old handled to perfection and in glorious coat and condition. Small and feminine with dense pigmentation throughout, balanced outline which she holds beautifully both standing and on the move. Strong arched neck into good shoulders, still has a little more maturing to do in body but she is still young. Perfect topline and tail carriage, good length of body, well boned and with a strong, moderately angulated rear. Her head is delightful with the darkest of round eyes, slight stop and frontal grove, well set ears on a slightly rounded skull, correct length of muzzle with good underjaw and such an appealing expression. She was the best moving of the entry not just accurate out and back but super in profile, covering the ground with ease whilst maintaining her outline at all times. I thought she was super and had no hesitation awarding her BB and BIS.

2nd:  COLLEY, Ms G Coladaire Marguerite. This 3 year old just got better the more I saw of her. She didn’t immediately catch my eye but her accuracy and outline on the move just couldn’t be ignored. Lovely for size and balance, well constructed throughout with good front and rear angulation, nice chest and ribbing, correct topline and tail carriage with good bone and substance for her size. Her head is correctly shaped and feminine, not quite the piment and eyes of 1 but has the correct length of muzzle and strength of underjaw, well set ears and pleasing expression. In good coat and fit condition, moving effortlessly around the ring holding her outline firm. RBB and I considered her for RBIS just narrowly missing out to the impressive male.

1st: SCOTT, Mrs & Mr J & S Cukoton Sky's The Limit Sh.CM VW. Almost 9 years old but noone has told her! Small and feminine with well balanced length of body, good topline and tail carriage, well sprung ribs and good forechest. Head of good proportions with decent pigment, dark round eyes and strong jaw. Moving soundly using her rear well. BVB
