Hound Club of East Anglia

11th October 2025

Judge: Miss L Tarabad (Khatibi)

Whippet

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at this friendly Hound show and to the exhibitors who gave me such a lovely entry. I ended up with a super line up in the challenge with all 4 of the final winners appreciated by the best in show judges at the end of the day.

Puppy (6,1)

1st Bowdonia Elphaba (Ms M Thomas) Just a day before her 1st Birthday and already looking mature enough to hold her own in the junior class. Elegant outline with good topline and underline, straight front, good spring of rib and well angulated rear. Pleasant head and expression, fine coat and super condition. She outmoved the competition here with her lovely profile action, covering the ground with good reach and drive and holding her outline well. BP, RBPIS.

2nd Ballaurens Precious Love (Mrs P Bidmead) Just 6 months old and every bit the baby but impressed on the move being particularly good out and back and holding a nice outline in profile. Feminine head with bright eyes and neat ears. Good neck, topline and underline, sound rear assembly, needs to fill in front.

3rd Dapperdiva Sugar and Spice at Salatini (Miss N Hunter)

 Junior (3)

1st Zoraden Naughty at Forty (Miss A Morland). Feminine bitch of a lovely size and shape with smooth, flowing outline and lovely balance. Strong neck into good shoulders, good fill in front, well sprung ribs, good tuck up and well angulated rear. Lovely head and expression. Moved with a free, effortless gait covering the ground well and holding her outline firm.

2nd Bowdonia Elphaba (Ms M Thomas)

3rd Lolani under The Influence of Perromono (Mr J R Pye)

Special Yearling (5,1)

1st Ardencote Dance A Dream at Chipperlake JW (Messrs M & A J Cahill & Timberlake) A beautiful bitch who I have judged previously and awarded bp as a very young puppy, it was lovely to see her again as a more mature adult. Feminine and elegant in outline with good neck, topline and rear assembly. Balanced and well muscled with good bone and feet. Beautiful head and expression, moving accurately in all directions, covering the ground with a fair length of stride.

2nd Whitesquall Mionetto (Mrs K Skinner) Curvy, feminine bitch who covered the ground very well in profile, not quite as good coming towards as 1. Good neck and shoulders, straight front, strong rear and good underline. Pleasing head and sweet expression.

3rd Lolani Crystal Moon (Mrs V Arbuthnot)

 Post Graduate (3)

1st Zoraden Orange Is Da New Blue at Romaclove (Miss L Samson). Easy winner here being of obvious quality, good for size and shape with nice substance and bone, smooth and graceful in outline with good topline and underline, straight front with good fill, well sprung ribs, strong loin and well constructed rear. Nice head and expression with neat ears and bright eyes. Moving freely and effortlessly around the ring.

2nd Warrior Bee (Miss K L Smith). Free moving and presenting a pleasing outline on the stack with good chest and ribbing, nice topline and underline, well angulated rear and presented in fit condition. A little strong in head. Moved freely.

3rd Blues and Tooze (Mrs D Bowsher)

Limit (4)

1st Zoraden Master Baker JW (Miss A Morland). Mature and perfectly conditioned male with flowing lines and graceful outline. Strong arched neck into good shoulders, straight front with good fill and depth of chest, well sprung ribs, good topline, strong loin and lovely rear assembly. Lovely head, long and lean with strong jaw, bright expressive eyes and neat ears. Moved well in the class but after a change of handler for the challenge he went even better and really made the most of himself as he circled the ring which gave him the edge for RBOB. I was delighted to hear he later won best RBOB in show.

2nd Bowdonia Sky Full of Stars JW (Ms M Thomas) Another super quality whippet with much to like. Presents a well balanced outline with lovely curves, good front and rear angulation, straight front, good bone and substance, well sprung ribs and strong rear. Uses herself well on the move, accurate out and back and covers the ground well in profile.

3rd Warden William (Mrs Ea Mould)

Open Dog (6,1)

1st Bowdonia Go The Distance for Stalwart (Mrs V Martin) Soundly constructed dog who won here being the best for movement in all directions although could have more reach and drive in profile. Nice front assembly, good depth of chest and decent fill in front, straight front with good bone, well angulated rear and good topline which he holds on the move. Well muscled with fine coat and pleasing outline.

2nd Crosscop Waterloo Sunset (Mrs Ea Mould) Nicely balanced overall with the better front assembly here although could have more fill in front. Nice head with alert expression. Free moving and shown in lovely condition.

3rd Lolani Ride A Wild Trail JW (Mrs D Bowsher)

Open Bitch (2)

1st Romaclove The Power of Love (Miss L Samson). I could have given any of my class winners BOB and been more than happy and then this beautiful bitch walked into the ring and stole the show! So feminine, elegant and curvy yet obviously has the strength and power required, outmoving the competition here with her super profile action and accuracy out and back all the while holding her lovely outline firm. Long, lean head with nice eyes and strong jaw. Elegantly arched neck into lovely shoulders, straight front with good fill and depth of chest, well sprung ribs, strong loin, super topline and underline and strong, well angulated rear. Almost a veteran but still in superb condition, my hands simply flowed over her from head to tail. A well deserved BOB and later shortlisted for BIS.

2nd Katie'sue Sazzy Suzie (Mrs K Picolo) Rather unsettled and not making things easy for her handler who did a great job of staying calm to try and get the best out of her. Nice size but carrying a little too much weight. Rather flat in topline both standing and moving. Good length of head with strong jaw.

Veteran (5,1)

1st Zoraden Suprise Edition at Romaclove (Miss L Samson). Beautifully conditioned veteran of appealing type who I found out later is the sire of the BOB. Good for size and shape with nice topline and underline, super front assembly with good bone and feet, well filled in front, good spring of rib, well angulated rear with correctly set and carried tail. Masculine head of good length with powerful jaw and neat ears. Moved with a free, effortless action covering the ground with a decent length of stride, true out and back. BV, 3rd BVIS.

2nd Zoraden Fifty Shades Darker JW (Mrs D Bowsher) Curvy black bitch, graceful and elegant in outline with sound front and rear assembly, good topline and underline, presented in well muscled and fit condition. Moved accurately out and back and freely in profile.

3rd Kentixen Sweetheart (Miss K L Smith)
