Shetland Sheepdog

Numerically a fabulous entry and I thoroughly enjoyed sorting them out!

Puppy (9,1)

1.Withers’ Wish Upon The Moon For Stanydale. I thought this 11month old bitch was an easy winner here not only for balance and type but super movement and sound temperament. Attractive head of correct proportions, flat skull, slight stop, parallel planes, neat ears and lovely eyes giving a sweet expression. Looked a picture on the move. BP, Puppy Group 2.

2. Taylor’s Shelridge Snowflake at Chelmermead. Nicely proportioned Shetland sheepdog who was unplaced in her breed class being a little unsettled by her surroundings and not making the most of herself on the move. Pretty face, wedge shaped head with parallel planes, needs to grow into her ears.

Special Yearling (6,2)

1. Collins’ Full Of The Dickens Winner Takes It All for Kingswud. Very promising young Bearded Collie who couldn’t be ignored and is sure to have a bright future as he matures further. 2. Reynolds’ Beabeardies Blue Velvet. Another lovely bearded collie who was unlucky to meet 1. Very little to separate them in size, shape and balance however he isn’t quite as mature in body as 1 at present and not quite as settled on the move. Superb presentation.

Soundly made with good chest and ribbing, correct topline, good bone and feet. Moved well, very nice out and back. Just slightly preferred the outline of 1 having a touch more neck.

3. Bemelmans’ O. Asteria

Imp Reg Pastoral

Open (1)

1. Glading’s R. Fauve Avec M.

Whippet

Unfortunately this show clashed with Driffield’s double show plus several whippet club shows and supported entries over the weekend so it was no surprise that the entry wasn’t very high, however it certainly wasn’t lacking in quality.

Special Yearling (4,2)

1. Morland’s Zoraden Naughty at Forty. Just out of puppy so still has some maturing to do but is lovely for size and shape with arched neck, straight front, good topline and underline, well angulated rear, good bone and feet. Lovely head and expression, bright eyes and neat ears. Moved with free, easy action covering the ground well, good out and back and holding her outline well in profile. As always from this kennel, condition and presentation was first class. RBOB.

2. Rochford’s Velandor Mr Jingles. On I have judged previously as a very excitable puppy and it seems he still has a naughty streak! Good neck and topline, deep chest, strong loin and well muscled rear. Head of good length with strong jaw and alert expression. Moved OK, could be better going away and tail is carried too high.

Post Grad (2,1)

1. Morland’s Zoraden Master Baker JW. Masculine yet elegant with super outline, good front and rear angulation, firm topline, good chest and ribbing, strong loin and good bone. Super head and expression, fine coat and so smooth from head to toe with curves in all the right places and well muscled throughout. Moved with a lovely length of stride.

Open (4,2)

1. Morland’s Zoraden Gossip Girl JW. Absolutely beautiful bitch, not quite 2 years old who I understand already has her title and I can see why. Totally unexaggerated, feminine and elegant with curvy outline, super chest and ribbing, strong loin, good bone and feet, balanced angulation and in peak muscular condition. Most beautiful feminine head with lovely bright eyes, strong jaw, neat ears and alert expression. She puts her super conformation to good use on the move, totally accurate out and back and looking a picture in profile, covering the ground with a super length of stride, effortless and graceful with her outline firm. Beautiful type and temperament, handled to an advantage. BOB.

2. Edwards’ Silkridge Yoko Ohno. Another nice one with lots to like. Similar in size to 1 and of obvious quality. Presenting a balanced outline with good topline and underline, deep chest, well sprung ribs and correctly angulated rear. Beautiful head, nice eyes and strong jaw. Moved well in all directions just couldn’t quite match the reach and drive of 1. Super condition.
