Guildford & dcs Premier Open Show
1st March 2025
Judge: Miss L Tarabad (Khatibi)
I thoroughly enjoyed this appointment at Guildford premier open show. The committee had obviously made a great effort to give the exhibitors a fun, well organised show with lovely big rings to move the dogs and a fantastic atmosphere all day. I really was spoilt for choice in the final line ups with some super dogs sent through by my fellow judges. For Best in show it was the elegant and powerful Great Dane Cranfield’s Ch. Zefather’s Ralph Lauren JW Shcex OSW that couldn’t be ignored. Standing proudly with head high on a well arched neck, firm topline, deep body, super front with good bone and strong, well angulated rear. Such a handsome head of good length and balance with strong jaw and alert expression. So impressive on the move covering the ground with a free, springy action, elegant and accurate, covering the ground so easily whilst holding his outline firm. Handled and presented to an advantage, it was no surprise to see he has his title. Taking Reserve Best In Show was the graceful Pointer, Norbury & Adams’ Heartbury Northern Lights JW who didn’t put a foot wrong, presenting a strong, graceful outline in profile, impressing particularly on the move covering the ground well with good drive whilst maintaining her lovely outline. Pretty head with kind eyes, lovely neck and shoulders, good topline, strong loin and well muscled rear. Next up were the delightful puppy group winners and none were more delightful than the gorgeous Bichon Frise, Russell’s Rusmar April Forget Me Not who got the nod for Best Puppy In Show. Such a beautiful face with dense pigment, big dark eyes and correct length of muzzle. Squarely built with firm topline, good front and rear assembly, balanced length of leg and good chest and ribbing for age. Moved with ease, head carried proudly and tail carried well over her back. Taking a very close Reserve Best Puppy In Show was the Boxer, Hawkins’ Mellhawk Jiggerlicious. Another puppy with the most beautiful head and expression, sound and balanced in outline with short straight back, good depth of chest and strong rear. Moved with accuracy in all directions, using her rear well and covering the ground with ease. Presented in gleaming condition. For Best Veteran In Show I couldn’t look past the Bearded Collie, Bowden’s Ch. Subessen Blaze of Fire VW. One of the oldest in the lineup at almost 11years old but looking and performing like a youngster! Lovely outline of correct balance, firm topline, good length of body with plenty of daylight beneath, well angulated fore and aft with good bone and feet. Correctly shaped head with large eyes, strong muzzle and such a soft expression. Moved with a super length of stride, effortless and accurate. A real credit to her owner who had her presented in beautiful coat and condition. Reserve Best Veteran In Show was another incredibly impressive veteran the Cesky Terrier Burrage’s Ch. Komidion Prima Donna of Sametova Shcex VW. 8 years old but again could certainly give the youngsters a run for their money. Head of good length with distinct stop, dark eyes, strong jaw and appealing expression. Strong neck, well laid shoulder, correct topline and tail set, well sprung ribs and correctly constructed rear. Moved with a brisk, accurate gait and presented in super coat and condition. Best Import Breed Reg In Show was the very impressive Xolo Chambers’ Tamoanchan Nerferiti to Musique who, even in the cold conditions, really gave a good account of herself looking a picture on the move, circling the ring with a good length of stride, elegant and accurate holding her outline firm. Strong, wedge shaped head with large erect ears, correctly shaped eyes and alert expression. Soundly constructed throughout with long neck, good chest and ribbing, athletically built with strong loin, good croup and rear angulation. A beautiful example of this special breed.
