Breed: Tibetan Mastiff

Tibetan Mastiff.

What a super breed this. All dogs were in lovely condition and had wonderful temperaments. Thank you for a lovely entry. Some super dogs here. You should all be very proud. A huge thank you to the show organisers – this was such a friendly, enjoyable show.

Puppy Dog (2,0)

2 nice puppies here

1st: Leaks’ Geldasworlds Aden With Madire. One I judged recently in the puppy group at Bournemouth Open Show. Has really matured on so well. Broad head with strongly defined occiput and correct amount of stop. Correct length of skull to muzzle. Eyes dark in colour an oval. They could perhaps be slightly more sloping. Correct ears. Moderate length of neck. Nicely balanced angles. Deep chest. Ok bone for age. Coat developing well. In very nice condition. Excellent mover. Really showing lots of promise. RBD

2nd: Springham’s Tamdrin’s Qinghai at Icebreaker. Broad head and certainly has good bone. Eyes are a nice shape and set. Just preferred overall expression and head proportions of 1st. Very deep muzzle. Muscular neck. Well angulated. Firm back and broad loins. Tail set and carriage good. Sound on the move. Lots of maturing to do.

Yearling Dog (1,0)

1st: Lowes’ & Jackson’s Callowdale Drummer Boy. I felt this to be a most handsome dog with lovely Tibetan expression. Broad head. Correct balance of skull to muzzle. Broad, blunt, square muzzle. Tight lips and well open nostrils. Medium size, oval eyes which are set slightly sloping, Well placed ears, which are medium in size. Strong neck which is slightly arched. Well laid shoulders and good return to upper arm. Good bone and correct feet. Deep chest with good ribbing. Broad loins. Moderate turn of stifles and well defined, string hocks. Well set and carried tail which is well feathered. Lovely proportions. Excellent mover. Should do very well when fully mature. BD

Post Graduate Dog (3,1)

1st: Briggs Kenzduo Bootes at Sobarna. Such a happy dog who is super attractive. Dark, oval eyes. Strong, square muzzle with moderate flews. Strong skull with well-defined occiput and stop. Ears maybe just a tad large for overall balance. Medium length of neck. Moderate angles fore and aft. Deep chest and muscular, broad loins. Level topline. High set tail which was carried well but lacking a little in feathering on the day. Excellent body condition. Sound mover. Totally out of coat.

2nd: Putman’s Kenzduo Pavo TAF. A super attractive dog of very nice type. Looked to be nicely put together and in excellent condition. Unfortunately, he was a little overwhelmed by the hall and I couldn’t really assess him or see him move to advantage. Good luck with him going forward.

Limit Dog (1,0)

1st: Roberts’ Callowdale Idris The Dragon. A very masculine boy with strong head. Eyes ok for shape, set and colour. Square muzzle and strong stop. Just slightly too much flew for my preference. Good open nostrils. Ears medium in size. Muscular neck with slight arch. Moderate angulation all through. Deep chest with well sprung ribs. Firm topline. High set tail with good feathering. Slight slope to pasterns. Good bone. Muscular condition. Very sound. Just preferred the expressions and overall proportions of the main winners.

Open Dog (1,0)

1st: Roberts’ Callowdale Tenzin Nyima. Looking quite immature. Strongish head with defined occiput and good stop. Correct length of skull to muzzle. Square muzzle but could perhaps be a tad blunter. Flews ok. Eyes are dark in colour, oval in shape and slightly sloping giving a nice expression overall. Ears look quite large. Moderate angulation. Looking quite leggy due to his lack of coat. Deep chest which reaches to elbows. Could have more width to chest. Firm topline. Broad loins. High set tail which is well feathered. Felt he had a slight kink in end of his tail. Sound side gait. Untidy out and back on the day.

Puppy Bitch (1,0)

1st: Lowes’ Tamdrin’s Lhasa For Callowdale. 9 months and a real stunner. Skull and head obviously still to develop and mature but has a gorgeous expression. Muzzle just a shade too long at present compared to skull. Stop to develop on slightly more. Dark, oval eyes which are slightly sloping. Ears ok for set. Muscular neck with slight arch. Well angulated front with good return of upper arm. Deepish chest. Muscular loins and firm topline. Moderate turn of stifles. High set tail which was well feathered. Strong firm hocks. Excellent mover. Really promising puppy. Will watch her career with interest. RBB. BP.

Yearling Bitch (1,0)

1st: Hinds’ Callowdale Tibet Tira at Diamoneo. Nice for size. Could perhaps be just a shade more feminine but has well-proportioned skull to muzzle. Muzzle is blunt enough and she has good stop and defined occiput. Tight lips. Open nostrils. Dark, oval eyes which are set at a slight slant. Ears ok for set and good size. Balanced angulation. Good bone. Slight slope to pasterns. Deep chest. Broad loins. Hocks could be firmer as she stands rather cow-hocked. Perhaps squarer in outline than I would prefer. Lacking coat on the day. Well presented. Good mover in profile, but untidy going away.

Post Graduate Bitch (2,0)

1st: Hinds’ Callowdale Tibet Tira at Diamoneo.

2nd: Robinson’s Callowdale Tibet Talia. Really out of coat, so not hiding anything. Dark oval eyes that could be set rather more of a slant to enhance the Tibetan expression. Well-proportioned skull to muzzle, but I felt underjaw could be stronger and muzzle squarer. She has a strong neck, good shoulders and upper arm and moderate turn of stifles. Deep chest. Broad loins. Stands slightly cow-hocked. Tail is high set but lacked feathering on the day. Sound mover in profile.

Limit Bitch (1,0)

1st: Lowes’ Callowdale Tibet Takiri. Absolute stunner! Caught my eye straight away and hoped she would be nice to go over. My notes say ‘super quality’ all through. I thought her head was textbook for a bitch. So feminine, but with strength and so well proportioned. Perfect stop and nice square muzzle. Black nose and open nostrils. Correct flews with black pigmentation. Defined occiput. Gorgeous dark, oval eyes which are set at a slight slant. Lovely ears for shape and set. Strong neck with slight arch. Well laid shoulders and excellent return of upper arm. Lovely for bone and feet, Slight slope to pasterns. Deep chest, with ideal length through the ribcage. Strong topline and broad loins. Super turn of stifle without being overdone. Well defined, firm hocks. High set tail which is carried to the side. Tan markings could be slightly richer in colour, but this is a truly superb bitch overall. Excellent mover. I absolutely loved her and would have no hesitation in awarding her a CC ! BB, BOB.
