Border Collie

I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge Border Collies. Thank you to all exhibitors for

entering under me and making the day special with your lovely dogs, they are all credit to you. Sadly,

some of the dogs today were little bit stiff and didn’t put their normal performance, but as they say you

need to judge the dogs on the day. I was looking for an easy, effortless mover with the correct head

carriage. There is something special about a well-moving border collie with easy daisy cutting action.

Puppy 0/2

Special Yearling 5/2

1 st Laceway Breaking Waves nearly 2 year old bitch who gave her handler hard time today. Her head is

feminine with nearly pricked ears, correct eye shape. Lovely long neck leads into good placement of

shoulder with great upper arm. She has correct body ratio. Good spring of ribs, back angles which are

match the front and helped her to win this class as she powered around the ring. Clean going and

coming. This girl is super muscled up. Sadly in the challenge she gave her handler very tough time,

losing her head position which spoiled her topline. I am sure when this couple gets it together, it will be

a joy to watch her power around the rings.

2 nd Etherial Diamond Lakes (AI) (IMP AUS) This 15 month old boy was on his top form today. When

stood in the line up, it was not easy to appreciate his qualities, but once you have your hands on him,

you can discover what is hidden underneath of all that coat. His head is all male without being

overdone, he has neat tipped ears and correct eye shape and colour. He has lovely front assembly and

matching back ones with it which today he used to his advantage. Good spring of ribs. He has lovely

croup and tail set with correct length of tail under all the coat. Good muscle tone

3 rd Kanamaren I Have The Touch. 13 month old boy who has lovely reach and drive, but sadly he has

lost out today due to happy tail which spoiled his overall look on move.

Limit 7/2

1 st Caleykiz Passion For Power. 3 year old bitch who left her coat at home, later on I learned she is 10

weeks post puppies, for that she is in great shape. She has nothing to hide, she is truly a border collie.

She has a lovely feminine head with very attentive tipped ears. Correct eye shape. Good neck leading

into straight front with good angles front and back which enable her to have this effortless movement

which she showed today. She held her topline all the time. Correct croup, tailset and length of tail. She

was a handful for her handler today, but on the move they were joy to watch, just gliding around the

ring, I could have watched them all day, and as some exhibitors probably felt it later on, as I moved

them a lot. She was a joy to watch, thank you for bringing her even in her bikini look. BOB

2 nd Caleykiz St Elmos Fire 3 year old dark boy who was a little unsettled today as he had a different

handler I was told, but this handler managed to get it together with him to secure him 2 nd place today. I

would love to see him with somebody who could run as this boy had lovely reach and drive on the

grass. He has masculine head without being overdone. He has a lovely long neck, great upper arm and

well laid back shoulder. Matching back angles to help him propel himself forward. Great croup with low

tail set. He kept his topline all the time.

3 rd Simmovon Among The Stars Avec Coussiere JW 2 year old lovely feminine bitch who was

unfortunate to meet these two great moving dogs today.

Open 6/1

1 st Chikaramor Hall Of Fame 4 year old bitch coming back into coat, but again nothing to hide as her

body screamed the breed standard. This pricked eared bitch with correct eye shape and colour is very

attentive to her handler and didn’t put foot wrong the whole time. Lovely straight topline leading into

correct croup with good tailset and length of tail. She has very easy daisy cutting action, sadly in the

challenge she lost out to the limit bitch who had more oomph when I sent them round. On her stand

alone, she would have been my BOB today, but as I said in the beginning I was looking for movement

and she had to settle for RBOB. Later on under the group judge she has got Best RBOB Pastoral,

congratulations.

2 nd Caleykiz Hey There Delilah. 6 year old dark bitch in full coat, you need to put your hands on to

appreciate her sound structure. More she moved better she got. Lovely head and expression with lovely

dark eyes. She has well-used her ears to finish the picture. Great angles which match front and back.

Her length comes correctly from her ribcage, with a lovely croup. She held her topline on the move.

3 rd Coussiere Dancing Queen. I have to write a few words about this 10 year old beauty, she caught my

eye as soon as she entered the ring. She is a credit to her owners. Sadly, as I ran the dogs a lot today

she started to show her age a little on the last two circuits, where the younger girls had more power. I

was delighted to see her win Pastoral veteran group later on, congratulations.
