Llanelli & District Canine Society Open Show – 13th April 2025

Retriever (Labrador)

I would like to thank Llanelli & District Canine Society for the invitation to judge Labradors at their open show and for the exhibitors for graciously accepting placements.

Puppy (3, 0 abs)

1st – Tatchell’s Smokeycot Dreamshot Lady

8 month old yellow bitch. A really lovely puppy – typical head and expression with no exaggeration. Gentle expression that was complemented by fantastic pigment. Well-constructed overall with good angulation fore and aft and plenty of muscle for her age. Plenty of bone with neat, well-padded feet. Moved cleanly and was handled to her advantage. In good coat with a well wrapped tail, coming neatly off a solid topline that did not falter stood or on the move. Will follow her career with interest. RBOB & BP

2nd – Miles-Bevan’s Llanstinan Iron Bibi

6 month old chocolate dog. A very raw puppy with lots of head and body to grow into and fill out. His movement was a little untidy today, but that will tighten as he grows into his frame. Beautiful neat feet and plenty of bone. Was particularly taken with the strong neck and shoulders on this pup, complemented by correct angulation to the rear as well, presenting a neat picture in profile. Another one that I will be interested to see as an adult.

3rd – Lindsay’s Javelin Jive to Mezanda

Junior (0 Entries)

Post Graduate (5, 3 abs)

1st – Philips’s Rochevale Gypsy at Sheenaron

Yellow bitch of a slighter build than 2nd. Gentle head and kind expression with nice eye colour. Moved cleanly with an accurate footfall, although would have preferred slightly more drive to complete the picture. Held her topline on the move and in profile, and presented a clean picture in profile. Lovely hind angulation and presented in well muscled condition. Well deserved BOB

2nd – Tatchell’s Smokeycot Nostalga Queen

Dark yellow bitch who was well off for coat. Moved around the ring with drive and at one with her handler. Unfortunately, she was carrying a little bit too much weight, and 1st presented the neater outline today. Sufficient angulation front and rear with tidy feet. Another one with a gentle head and a kind, intelligent expression.
