Terrier Club Of South Wales

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge. The show was very well organised and ran smoothly on the day.

Scottish Terrier

Rather concerning to see the majority of my exhibits were very narrow in the front – I don’t have the biggest of hands and struggled with many dogs to get my palm between the legs. Definitely something that needs watching in the breed.

Puppy (2,2)

1st Celmareva Hakuna Matata. 6 month old brindle dog. Raw puppy at his first show, glad to see he settled down as the class went on. Nice compact dog. Beautiful head with lovely ear set. Good angulation front and back. Good tail set and carriage. Lovely on the move with a level top line. Coat a little on the long side, but with correct harsh texture. BOB and BP. I was thrilled to see him go on to win RBPIS and am sure he will do well in the future.

2nd Berrybreeze Soul Man. Almost 7 month old black dog. Another raw puppy, very well presented with an excellent harsh jacket. Lovely head with well set neat ears, a little feminine compared to 1, but he has time to grow. Good angulation. A little narrow in front, this may improve with age. Longer back than 1. Moved nicely once he settled

Post Graduate (1,3)

1st Karmaristol Beau Brie. 13 month old wheaten bitch. Really didn’t give of her best today, very difficult to assess tail carriage as she kept her tail down throughout. Tail set could be better though. Nice head with neat ears. Does not have the black nose required in the breed standard. Very narrow in the front. Quite high on the legs. Movement was very stilted, but difficult to assess whether this was due to her conformation or her nervousness.

Open (1, 5)

1st Tout Nouveau Beau Du Clan Des Petits Colonels Karmaristol. 3 year old brindle dog presented in excellent condition with a lovely harsh coat. Head was a little coarse with cheeks detracting from a smooth face. Another dog that is narrow at the front. Has a dip at the withers which is more evident on the move. Moved ok. RBOB

Welsh Terrier

Puppy (1,1)

1st Lehoa Maid in Italy. 10 month old bitch. Up to size. Difficult to assess head as she was more interested in the bait held by her handler. Well presented in a lovely harsh coat. Good tail set, carried well on the move. Front at little straight which did affect her movement slightly. Good hind angulation and movement. BP and RBOB

Open (2,2)

1st IT & UK Ch Knowlelion Sky’s the Limit. 3 year old bitch. Elegant head with good scissor bite. Good neck flowing into short back. Nice harsh coat, though the length did not present a smooth jacket. Lovely movement with a level topline on the move. BOB. Pleased to see that she went on for a placing in Best in Show

2nd Cwmcoch Pollypocket. 6 and ½ year old bitch who looks exceptionally good for her age. Coat was very soft and patchy – looked as though she had been stripped out to close the show. Lovely head with good ear set. Tail set on well and carried nicely on the move. Good bone. Shoulders a little straight. Preferred the movement of 1
