KIRKCALDY & DISTRICT CANINE CLUB OPEN SHOW
SATURDAY 19th APRIL 2025
Some very high quality exhibits present, I was spoilt for choice in both the Groups, Best in Show and with the Veterans in particular. My thanks to all exhibitors, to the committee for a super organised show and most importantly to my excellent steward Wilma, who kept everything running smoothly.
Best in Show was a very smart young Jack Russell Terrier dog Mccluskey’s TILTSER VOULEZ VOUS AVEC CHADBROOK to a big cheer from ringside, immaculately presented in harsh coat, pleasing type, fit for function with strong jaws, intelligent eye and well shaped head, good length of neck, well laid shoulders and firm topline, very well constructed all through, tail well carried and moved really soundly and freely. A quality dog, yet to fully mature, will watch his progress with interest.
Reserve Best in Show was the Pug Ferguson’s Ch RHODENASH DREAM DATE WITH TARTANMOPS ShCEx. A consummate showman, caught my eye immediately in the Group, so correctly proportioned and absolutely sound fawn. Not surprised to see he has his title, exemplifies breed type, masculine with a beautiful head, bright eyes and open nostrils, attentive to his handler, compact, cobby body, solid and square, strong legs which enabled easy lively and true movement without effort. Overall excellence.
Best Special Puppy in Show Torbett’s KIRLINJIS GOLD BEACH. Beautifully presented 10 month old Cocker Spaniel bitch, orange and white, another who immediately caught the eye for her absolutely correct and balanced construction, though larger framed retains femininity, sturdy and compact with an appealing head and soft expression from dark eyes, ears well set, good length of neck, set into sloping shoulders, straight front and rear, well angulated, moves so soundly and truly, full of quality. Reserve Best Special Puppy in Show Burns’ ADREEAMS TOOTIE FROOTIE delightful 11 month old b/w Japanese Chin bitch, 4th in the Toy Group, elegant, dainty and compact, appealing head with that astonished expression, attentive to her handler, stands so four square with straight front and rear and moves really freely, truly and joyfully, loved her!
Best Special Minor Puppy in Show Headspeath’s JANTAVIA SHE DRIVES ME CRAZY. 6 month old Rottweiler bitch, harmoniously constructed and very well balanced, stands absolutely correctly on strong feet, presents a lovely outline from her feminine, well proportioned head to her well angulated hindquarters, calm, stable temperament and strong, fluid and positive movement, absolutely straight and true. Very promising, I wish her novice owners luck. Reserve Best Special Minor Puppy in Show Ritchie’s Lhasa Apso CHEOLVIEW WALLACE Lhasa Apso very well proportioned and stylish, correctly constructed and moves as soundly as he is made, pleasing head and neck with well placed shoulders, level topline, good tail set, strong limbs, real quality, must have a bright future.
Best Veteran in Show Maclaine & Dickson’s GREYSPIRIT PURDUE JW ShCM ShCEx VW 9 year old Weimaraner bitch, in strong competition where I was spoilt for choice, belies her age, so absolutely well proportioned and balanced all through, soundly made, feminine with a balanced head, correct ears, good length of neck, correct body proportions, straight forelegs and well turned stifles. Exudes breed type, expertly handled and moves effortlessly, positively and fluidly with long stride. Reserve Best Veteran in Show Shaw’s BRAMBLECROFT REEBA AT BLUEQUARRY Shetland Sheepdog, 7 year old bitch, very sweet and feminine, pleasing expression from dark almond shaped eyes, balanced all through, overall well constructed, straight forelegs, good hindquarters, in abundant coat, moved truly and smoothly.

Proudly held head of good proportions and punishing jaw. Straight forelegs and sweeping stifle. Springy and exuberant movement, with a change of handler needs to settle on the move, but when he gets his act together moves with style. Happy disposition, well presented. Best of Breed.
2. Moyes, Lockett-Davies, Hunter-Ryan’s & Shaw’s MERRICK PICTURE PERFECT BY BRYELIS (Imp Rus). Very well presented and handled gold dog, just lost out on overall style to 1, not raising his tail on the move and not as confident, but of high order, fit for function and did move with reach and drive, straight forelimbs and excellent hindquarters, pleasing body proportions and balanced head.

Best of Breed.
