Ashfield (Notts) Canine Society

Ashfield (Notts) Canine Society 2 day Premier Open Show.

September 20th 2025.

Day One- Rhodesian Ridgebacks.

Judge – Mrs Kelly Millward.

Firstly I'd like to thank the committee for the invitation to judge what was my first appointment. Your hospitality was exemplary.

Secondly, to my Steward Pippa- whom settled my nerves and kept everything running smoothly inspite of the challenging weather conditions that appeared!

Lastly, but by no means least, to the exhibitors who entered, some travelling long distances, Thank you. I thoroughly enjoyed by appointment, and this would not have been possible without you. The quality of the exhibits was excellent and you presented me with some really difficult decisions on the day!

Puppy 1 (1 absent)

Junior 8 (1 absent)

1st- Pearces’ Kinyemi Song of Serengeti Sepiwi Sekayi JW for Msingi (IMP DNK) 14 month old male that drew the eye as he entered the ring. Head of excellent proportions, correct ear placement with an alert but kind expression. Great reach of neck flowing into well laid-back shoulder with good return of upper arm. Excellent depth of chest, good length of ribbing with strong loin and correct tail placement. Balanced angulation fore and aft, with lovely width of second thigh, completed by well let down hocks.Carried himself around the ring positively and with purpose, moving at one with his handler. A pleasure to award him BOB, Congratulations.

2nd Catheralls’ Kinabula’s Making Magick for Faahac.

15-month-old male, still very much a youngster with lots of maturing to do. Head with excellent planes, clean, with lovely dark round eyes and intelligent expression. Good length of neck leading to correct shoulder placement. Well ribbed with balanced rear angulation. He moved out really well,at one with his handler and held his topline beautifully on the move. Preferred the maturity and substance of 1st place.

Post Graduate 6 (0)

1st –Catharells’ Kinabula’s Making Magick For Faahac.

As previously critiqued.

2nd – Mills, Mills, Mills and Parsons’, Priorpark Pride and Joy to Nzuri JW.

20 month old female. Lots to like about this girl, excelled in substance and proportions, with a balance of femininity and strength. Great length of ribbing and lovely deep chest. Good spring of pastern, with excellent feet. Sadly didn’t move as well I’d hoped, dipping her topline at times, which cost her 1st place.

Open 6- (4 absent)

1st Dawson, Dawson and Parsons’ Priorpark Problem Solved.

3yrs male- Handsome dog who impressed with his masculinity and substance. I would prefer a flatter skull, but otherwise a well proportioned head. Lovely length of neck leading into adequately laid back shoulder. Correct depth and width of chest, however I would prefer more length of ribbing, which would give a more balanced profile. Level top line which he held on the move, moved with drive and purpose.Very well handled.

Pleased to award him RBOB. He then went on to win the RBOB Group 1. Congratulations.

2nd – Scanlons’ Kinabula’s All About the Bass JW ShCEx OSW VW.

8yr Female. Flying the flag for our veterans. I would be lying if I said I didn’t have a soft spot for this girl.In great condition, moderate and beautiful in maturity. Feminine expression with clear, dark eyes and a soft expression. Lovely proportioned head. Clean neck leading to a balanced front, capacious deep chest and length of ribbing. Well let down hocks, and correct rear angulation. Sadly she did not move as well as I know she can, which cost her 1st place.
