Birmingham & District Toy Dog Society

Breed: Pomeranian & Handling Classes

Birmingham & District Toy Dog Society Open Show 20th December 2025

Judge: Kelly Hampton-Lee (Kelrick)

I would like to thank the Birmingham & District Toy Dog Society committee for the invitation to judge, and my stewards John and Nick for their efficient organisation of the ring. I enjoyed assessing the handling classes and a pleasing entry of Pomeranians, many displaying good breed type, sound movement and correct temperament. It was a lovely show with a Christmas atmosphere. Thank you to all the exhibitors for accepting my decisions in a sporting manner.

Pomeranian

P (3,1) 1. Campbell’s Klassna Prime Star At Diemzs. Just 6 months old orange sable puppy dog. Lovely foxy head, intelligent expression, correct bite, black nose and small, well-placed ears. Square and compact in outline, sound, dainty and vivacious . A super mover and showed very well. A very promising puppy. BPIB

2. Rolleston’s Toytown Dusty Definitely. A cream sable bitch puppy of just 6 months old. Slightly longer than ideal at this stage but with a pleasing head and expression, dark eyes and black nose. Plenty of coat. Unsettled on the move today.

J (2,0) 1. Smith’s CH Sueacres Catch A Dream JW. A 15-month-old orange sable dog. Foxy head and nose with slightly flat skull and intelligent expression, small well-set ears and correct bite. Square and compact with fine bone and coat. Excelled in size and shape. Tail carried correctly over the back and moved freely around the ring with brisk buoyant action. A super exhibit. BOB and went on to Group 1 then BIS

2. Campbell’s Oraysha New Romance At Diemzs. A 9-month-old orange sable puppy bitch. Pleasing head, with dark slightly oval eyes, fine muzzle and correct bite. Profuse coat, short neck set well into shoulders. Well angulated. Not quite as confident as the winner today but moved nicely all ways around the ring.

PG (2,0) 1. Campbell’s Diemzs Noble Soul. 13-month-old orange sable bitch of nice size and shape. Feminine foxy head with dark eyes, black nose and correct dentition. Harsh outer coat texture and tail well carried over the back. Well angulated with short back and fairly deep chest. Lively and spirited, she moved well once settled.

2. Burrow’s Altina’s Ray Of Sunshine For Laura Louise. 2-year-old orange dog. Handsome head with dark slightly oval eyes, small well-set ears and correct bite. Profuse coat and an exuberant temperament. Fine boned, chest fairly deep and well ribbed up. Moved well fore and aft.

O (3,1) 1. Campbell’s CH In Time Poms New Beginnings At Diemzs (Imp Bgr) JW

2-year-old orange bitch. A quality exhibit with excellent breed type. Correct foxy head and intelligent expression, good ear placement and sound construction. Balanced, compact and moved with confidence. Formed a lovely silhouette on the stand. RBOB

2. Baranzeck’s Villenelle’s Cream Crush. 8-year-old cream sable bitch. Nice type with pleasing outline and intelligent expression. Foxy head with dark slightly oval eyes, black nose and small ears. Handling Classes

Junior Handler 6-11 years (3,0)

1. Abigail Twigg (11) handling a Miniature Pinscher. Beautifully handled and confident for her age. Smartly dressed and always aware of the judge’s position. Followed instructions well, completed the triangle and up-and-down neatly, and presented her dog attractively. Spoke to her dog throughout and showed the teeth correctly, resulting in a polished and sympathetic performance.

2. Savanna Cartwright (11) handling a Papillon. A very nice young handler with a promising puppy. Handled the puppy well, particularly as it was a lively pup! Presented the puppy well on the table, correctly showing the teeth when asked. Moved her puppy nicely, following the correct route.

3. Gracie-Mae Steenvoorden (9) handling a Russian Toy. Well dressed and made a good effort. Unfortunately, did not complete the full pattern as asked and could be a little more animated but showed good potential for the future. Showed teeth correctly and handled the dog sympathetically on the table.

Junior Handler 12-17 years (2,1)

1. Daisy Nicholas (15) handling a Papillon. A confident and capable handler who followed instructions accurately and was smartly dressed in a neat blue suit. She presented the dog beautifully, keeping it well controlled with correct lead handling throughout. Daisy was always aware of the judge’s position, ensuring the dog was consistently shown to advantage, and she remained completely in sync with her exhibit at all times. I was particularly impressed to learn afterwards that this was the first time Daisy had handled this dog. A thoroughly deserving Best Handler in Show.

Adult Handler 18-39 years – no entries

Adult Handler 40+ years

1. Julia Marsden (60) handling a Bichon Frisé. She handled her dog very sympathetically and with confidence. The dog was well presented and calm in the ring, with dentition shown clearly and correctly. She maintained a good rapport with her dog, talking to it on the move and carrying out the pattern well.
