Isle of Ely Canine Society – Premier Open Show – 02/02/25

Judge – Mrs Kelly Hampton-Lee (Kelrick)

I would like to thank the committee of Isle of Ely Canine Society for inviting me to judge at their Premier Open Show. A special thank you to my stewards - Karly Gould, Clive Denton, and Rosalie George - for their excellent organisation and efficient management of the ring. I also appreciate the exhibitors for bringing their lovely dogs and demonstrating such sporting attitudes throughout the day. It was a well-run show with a fantastic atmosphere, and I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of it.

Breed – Griffon Bruxellois

P: (4,2) 1. Meaden’s Delightbull Tad the Man for Topmead. An 8 month old red rough puppy dog with a lovely cobby, well-balanced frame and plenty to admire. He has a delightful head featuring round, dark, well-spaced eyes that enhance his alert and engaging expression. Full of enthusiasm and clearly enjoying his time in the ring, he showcased his lively character. Well-angulated, with a good tailset and correct carriage, he moved with drive and purpose from the rear. A promising youngster - pleased to award him BPIB.

2. Wood’s Delightbull Lady in Red. An 8 month old red rough puppy bitch with plenty of promise. She has a lovely head, featuring a black nose with wide-open nostrils, a well-defined stop, and a wide muzzle, all combining to create a classic breed expression. Her medium-length neck flows smoothly into well-laid shoulders, contributing to her balanced, square, and cobby frame. She moved confidently and with ease around the ring, showing great potential for the future.

J: (1,0) 1.Wood’s Star Griff Sheridan at Delightbull (IMP UKR). A lively and alert 15 month old red rough dog with a cobby, square, and well-balanced build. He has a handsome head featuring a moderately wide skull, black nose, a short muzzle, and a good turn-up, all contributing to his classic breed type. Moved adequately, with room to develop further as he matures.

O: (2,1) 1. Meaden’s CH Beauborne Nadal at Topmead. A 3 ½ year old red rough dog with a smart, confident presence - cobby, square, and beautifully well-balanced. He immediately demanded attention as he entered the ring. His lovely head features very dark, round, and well-spaced eyes, a black nose, and a definite stop, creating the desired alert and engaging expression. A good turn-up of muzzle, a prominent chin, and a well-furnished beard complete his classic look. With a deep chest, short back, and well-bent stifles, he stood four-square and moved with drive and purpose from the rear. His good tailset and carriage further enhanced his overall impression. Delighted to award him Best of Breed.

Breed –Japanese Chin

P: (1,0) 1. Bradley’s Sharlarna Faking It. 7 month old black and white puppy bitch of exceptional quality. She has a very pretty head with large, dark eyes set wide apart, a correct bite, a large black nose, and small, well-set ears, all combining to create a classic and charming expression. Beautifully presented, she showcased a plentiful coat and a well-feathered tail, set high and elegantly plumed over her back. Her stylish gait was smooth and effortless, and she remained attentive to her handler throughout. Despite the extremely cold conditions, she never stopped showing. Delighted to award her BPIB and Best of Breed and thrilled to hear she went on to achieve Puppy Group 3.

J: (1,0) 1. Bradley’s Sharlarna All Eyes on Me. Another lovely exhibit - a 15 month old black and white bitch presented in immaculate condition with a plentiful, well-groomed coat. She has a pretty, feminine head featuring moderately large dark eyes with just the right amount of white, creating the desired "astonished look" unique to the breed. Her short muzzle is well-cushioned, enhancing her soft expression. Straight legs with strong, fine bone and characteristic hare feet complete her elegant structure. She moved confidently around the ring with good reach and effortless grace. A quality exhibit.

Breed – Papillon

P: (6,1) 1. Thompson, Austin & Stanbury’s Inixia Glamour Boy at Jhanakia. A dainty and well-balanced 9 month old black and white puppy dog with a promising future. He has a handsome head with an intelligent and alert expression, complemented by large, well-set ears adorned with plenty of fringing. His finely pointed muzzle and correct scissor bite further highlight his quality. Well-constructed, with good angles to both front and rear. His movement was free-flowing, positive, and effortless, and he made excellent use of his ears while on the move, enhancing his overall presence. A lovely puppy, and I was pleased to award him BPIB.

2. Mann’s Braunswood Mask of Zorro at Melangel. A 7 month old red sable and white puppy dog with a lovely head, featuring large, well-fringed ears, a slightly rounded skull, a finely pointed muzzle, and good dentition. He has a well-proportioned body of good length and a beautifully plumed tail, completing his elegant outline. Full of confidence and personality, he is a real character who charmed in the ring. Lively and friendly, he moved with ease, covering the ground effortlessly and displaying the spirited movement typical of the breed.

J: (5,1) 1. Thompson, Austin & Stanbury’s Elendil San Miguel. A 15 month old black and white dog with a stunning headpiece, featuring large, well-fringed ears and a slightly rounded skull. He is of lovely size and shape, well-proportioned with strong, fine bone and excellent angulation. His hare feet and long, well-fringed tail, set high and forming a beautiful plume, enhance his overall elegance. He moved confidently and smoothly, covering the ground well from all angles. A quality exhibit with much to admire.

2. Simm’s Summerjade’s Snow Queen with Ezhar. A lovely 15-month-old tricolour bitch, lively, outgoing, and full of charm. Dainty and well-balanced, she presents a very pretty head with dark, expressive eyes and a finely pointed muzzle. Her symmetrical head markings and clearly defined white blaze enhance her overall appeal. Well-constructed with good angulation to both front and rear. She moved confidently around the ring, holding a level topline throughout. A delightful young bitch with plenty of promise.

PG: (10,3) 1. Slater’s Bresar's Almeno Tu Nell'Universo in Zizula JW (IMP ITA). A 23 month old sable and white dog with a fabulous head, featuring large, mobile ears and dark, expressive eyes that convey an alert and happy disposition. Beautifully presented, he boasts a plentiful, long, fine, and silky coat that enhances his elegance. His finely pointed muzzle, medium-length neck, and good angulation contribute to his balanced overall structure. He moved smoothly and confidently, maintaining a level topline throughout. A standout in the ring, earning him Best of Breed.

2. Holmes’ Kasper Margenis at Summerjade (IMP LIT). A 3 year old tricolour dog, dainty and well-balanced, presenting a beautiful head with symmetrical markings surrounding a clean white blaze. His finely pointed muzzle, black nose, and correct scissor bite add to his overall refinement. Well-constructed with good angulation, he moved gracefully around the ring, displaying a light, free-flowing action. A quality exhibit with elegance and charm.

O: (5,2) 1. Lees’ Lafford Black Onyx JW. A 2 year old black and white dog, beautifully presented with an abundance of long, fine, silky coat in excellent condition. He has a handsome head with dark, expressive eyes and large, well-fringed ears that enhance his elegant appearance. Strong yet fine bone, with a good turn of stifle contributing to his balanced structure. He moved smoothly and effortlessly, covering the ground with ease. A lovely example of the breed.

2. Keown’s Jorgealin Midnight Magic for Kingshaven. A 9 year old tricolour dog who truly belies his age - what a lovely showboy! Dainty, well-balanced, and full of energy, he displayed a lively and alert demeanour. His handsome head featured a finely pointed muzzle, dark expressive eyes, and a black nose, exuding charm and breed type. Immaculately presented with a plentiful, silky coat in superb condition. He moved with a positive, light, and effortless action around the ring, showcasing his enduring quality and spirit. A credit to his owner.

Breed – Pekingese

P: (3,1) 1. Morley & Hitchcock’s Lizlanmor Midnight Sky. A small and charming 9 month old bitch who displays plenty of breed quality at this young age. She boasts a gorgeous head, with the correct balance, soft expression, lovely dark eyes and black nose with wide open nostrils. Her coat is of an ideal length - enough to enhance her appearance without being overdone, maintaining that important natural elegance. Full of character and personality, she commanded attention in the ring. A promising youngster with much to look forward to in her development. BPIB

2. Clifton’s Yakee King of the Kop. 7 month old dog. Handsome head, showing correct breed features and a strong, masculine expression without coarseness. Flat skull, wide open nostrils, well feathered ears. His proportions and overall structure are well-balanced and moderately thick set. Heavy when picked up with strong bone and large, flat feet. Slightly larger than 1. A lovely dog and a great prospect for the future.

J: (3,2) 1. Morley’s Klerkshof Red Rum at Lizlanmor. A stunning 13 month old dog - an outstanding example of the breed. He boasts a lovely head with dark, lustrous eyes that enhance his alert and intelligent expression. His wide, open nostrils and well-balanced proportions further highlight his quality. Leonine in appearance, he embodies the breed’s majestic character with heavy bone and a sturdy, well-built body. His movement is a pleasure to watch, displaying the typical slow, dignified rolling gait that is essential to the breed. Truly impressive in every aspect, earning him Best of Breed.

PG: (1,0) 1. Clifton’s Hemmingsway’s Marley at Clifcastle. 3 year old dog I have judged before, and I am delighted to see how nicely he has matured. He remains true to type, with a flat skull, dark lustrous eyes, and large, wide open nostrils contributing to his intelligent and alert expression. Heavy when picked up. He was beautifully presented with a plentiful, well-groomed coat that enhanced his overall appearance. Moved well, demonstrating the typical rolling gait with dignity and purpose.

O: (3,1) 1. Clifton’s Lizlanmor Queenie Panini at Clifcastle. 2-year-old bitch I have judged before, and it was a delight to see her again. She excels in both size and shape, relatively short with a distinct waist, embodying the breed standard with her well-proportioned and balanced frame. Her flat skull, dark lustrous eyes, and large, wide open nostrils contribute to her intelligent and classic expression. Beautifully presented, with enough coat to enhance her outline without excess. She moved well, demonstrating the typical slow, dignified rolling gait that completes the picture of a quality bitch.

2. Morley & Hitchcock’s Lizlanmor Declaration JW. 21 month old dog of excellent breed type, demonstrating the substance and structure expected in a quality Pekingese. Heavy when picked up, with a flat skull, dark lustrous eyes, and large, wide open nostrils contributing to his intelligent and alert expression. Leonine in appearance, exuding the breed's characteristic dignity and presence. Immaculately presented with a profuse, well-maintained coat that enhanced his overall stature. Well-constructed, with heavy bone and a solid build. His movement was true to type, displaying the typical slow, dignified rolling gait with purpose and style.
