Many thanks to the committee for the kind invitation and to my ring steward also many thanks to the exhibitors for bringing their dogs for my assessment.

AVNSC Gundog

Puppy (4,1abs):

1st – Briley’s ZOLDMALI HUNTER CIROK AT CANALGAME (IMP HUN) – HWV 6mth very nice puppy of correct size, very balanced for her tender age. Good headpiece feminine correct soft expression. Good reach of neck. Firm in topline. Ribs beginning to develop and spring. Lovely forehand and rear quarters. RBAVNSC

2nd Hempstead’s CUVANA RED STREAK – IWS – male 6mths old masculine head of correct proportions. Strong neck into a well-placed shoulder. Good bone & substance. Ribs well sprung with correct barrel shape. Well angulated rear. Correct coat with good texture. Needs to tighten up in rear movement.

3rd – Hempstead’s CUVANA GILLIFLOWER - IWS

Post Graduate (1):  

1st – Hewitt’s BLUE JEWEL’S GARVIN (IMP CHE) – IWS – 2yr old dog with super head correct dome with good width square muzzle, correct almond shape eyes. Good length of neck and well-placed shoulders. Well boned forelegs with good feet. Excellent well sprung ribs short in back. Well angulated hind quarters. Moving soundly with good free action. BAVNSC

1st – Hewitt’s BLUE JEWEL’S GARVIN (IMP CHE) –IWS

AV GUNDOG Veteran

1st – Middleton & Mayhews’ SH CH/INT CH/MULTI CH ARNAC BAY HEBE -CBR 7yr old bitch who is full of quality and worthy of her numerous titles. Prettiest of heads clean in neck and shoulder, superb front assembly, one of the best in the breed. Super spring of rib. Excellent coat and texture. Lovely rear well-muscled quarters. Firm in topline and correct tailset. Moving with great rear action.

2nd Ottway’s CAITHPOINT PALOMA FAITH AT CASTLEBANK – Pointer – 9yrd old bitch of lovely type. Feminine in head with lovely soft expression. Clean in outline presenting a balanced shape. Lovely forehand. Good bone and tidy neat feet. Well ribbed. Turned out in lovely condition for her age and a super mover.

3rd – Waller’s ISFRYN LADY GODIVA AT FIREGLOW JW VW -WSS

Puppy (2,1)

1st – McKee & Evan’s EASTDEW SKY FULL OF STARS OVER EMINALA - 6mth old yellow bitch who stacked provided a lovely balanced outline for one so young. She appealed in type and she has a lovely feminine head of correct proportions correct eye colour and shape. Clean in neck and well laid-back shoulder. Front limbs well under her body and correct barrel ribs. Excellent hindquarters with a well-turned stifle. Firm in topline and excellent tail and set. She was giving her handler a hard time today, but she showed herself to be full of promise. 

Junior (2,1):

1st McKee & Evan’s EASTDEW REWRITE THE STARS WITH EMINALA – 6mth old brother to puppy winner and how lovely to have two such lovely typey pups. Many of the same qualities as his sister but with a super masculine head. Strong neck and a well-placed forehand. Superb bone and feet. Good width of chest and ribs beginning to spring nicely for his age. Excellent tail which he never stopped wagging! In super coat & condition. Moving freely around the ring just needs to tighten in front which will come with age. One for the future and one I shall watch with interest. Delighted to award him BPIB & Puppy Group 1.

Graduate (6,1):

1st Vine & Hassell’s ZACKIVER BUBBLE & SQUEAK AT WIMJASS – 23mth old black bitch lovely head of correct width of skull correct eye shape & colour. Good length of neck and super front angulation. Good depth of brisket. Clean legs of good bone and compact feet. Level topline. Well developed quarters. Slightly longer in loin. Good turn of stifle and well let down hocks. Moving out soundly. RBOB

2nd Jury’s HANDIALLA LADY IN RED AT BALLAREMUERA – 2yr old yellow bitch of good size, more refined in headpiece than 1st, clean in neck and well-placed shoulder. Good ribbing. Short coupled body. Well developed quarters. Tended to loose her topline on the move and was also testing her handler today! In good coat.

3rd Reardon’s RUMHILL GALDIATOR OF OATHAMCOURT

Post Graduate (2,1):

1st Welford’s RICHBOURNE LEGALLY BLONE AT ANKARI – 2yr yellow bitch who stood makes a pleasing outline. Pretty headpiece and correct eye shape and colour. Stood on decent bone with compact feet. Shoulders laid well back. Well developed body. Level topline. Good turn of stifle. Used her tail well but was a little high on the move. In good coat.

Open (1):

1st Evan’s LUX/BEL/ROM CH EMINALA STAR STRUCK FARNFIELD – yellow 4yr old bitch of nice breed type. Lovley head with correct width of skull and good ear set. Clean strong neck into a nicely placed shoulder and correct length of upper arm. Legs well under her body and neat elbows. Stood on decent bine and feet. Good depth of brisket and width of chest. Short coupled strong loin. Good tailset. Firm in topline. Well-muscled quarters with hocks well let down. Good tail which she used well. Moving freely straight & true. Presented in lovely coat and condition. BOB. 

Spanish Water Dogs

Puppy (1):

1st Searles CRAVESSA SNOOPY – 9mth old dog. Good sized dog head of correct proportions although eyes need to darken. Short neck and enough front angulation. Straight forelegs elbows could be tighter. Level back and good rear angulation. Hocks well let down. Coat texture ok. Moving soundly just needs to tighten up in front. Tail carried a little high on the move. BP

Open (6,5):

1st Donaldson’s PRIZELANDS IN OUR DREAMS – 5yr old parti-colour of nice type and size. Balanced outline. Lovely head of correct proportions, good pigmentation. Lovely dark expressive eye. Short strong neck into a well angulated front assembly. Stood on good bone and round feet. Good depth of brisket and well spring ribs. Level back. Correct rear angulation with good muscle tone. Presented in good condition & coat and handled sympathetically. Moving with great rear drive. Best mover of the class with great showmanship attitude. BOB & Group 4

2nd Donaldson’s PRIZELANDS TICKLED MY FANCY JW – another one from this kennel producing a nice type and size. Pretty headpiece with correct parallel planes with good pigment. Correct eye shape and colour. Superb front angulation straight forelegs with round feet. Good depth of chest. Excellent quarters with hocks well let down. Lovely coat and texture. Just not as happy today on the move as her kennel mate so ha to settle for 2nd. RBOB

3rd – Searles – ADORMIDERA APACHE ROSE AT CRAVESSA

Weimaraner

Puppy (4):

1st – Jefferies RIVERTONE ATHENA OVER SILBERMEER – 11mth bitch of good size, pretty in head correct moderate stop good ear set. Clean in neck and shoulders. Chest well developed for her age and ribs well sprung. Level topline. Well turned stifle with good muscle. Presented in good coat. Once settled moved soundly with good extension and her topline.

2nd – Braine’s CHILTERNWAY ALLIUM – 9mth old upstanding dog. Masculine in head with kind expression. Decent neck and well-placed shoulder. Needs to tighten up at the elbow which should come with maturity. Ribs binging to spring nicely. Firm topline and moderate tuck up. Super muscled hindquarters. Not settled on the move today which let him down.

3rd – Lord & Broomfield’s CHILTERNWAY CORIANDRUM

Junior (2):

1st - Braine’s CHILTERNWAY ALLIUM

2nd - Lord & Broomfield’s CHILTERNWAY CORIANDRUM – 9mth old bitch littermate to 1st, nice overall type. Good head and kind expression. Well-made forehand. Good bone and compact feet. Nice depth of chest and ribs well back.

1st - Braine’s CHILTERNWAY ALLIUM

2nd - Lord & Broomfield’s CHILTERNWAY CORIANDRUM

3rd – Golbourn’s KALLASILYA SWAN RIVER DAISY

Open (2):

1st Anderson’s GUNALT GIFT OF THE GAB JW – 20mth old bitch who presented a lovely balanced outline on the stack. Superb feminine head and kind intelligent expression. Head of correct proportions. Clean long neck. Forelegs straight good lay back of shoulder. Excellent depth of brisket. Super spring of rib. Short loin. Well let down muscled quarters. Firm in topline which she held on the move. Moving effortlessly around the ring. BOB

2nd Jefferies RIVERTONE AURORA OVER SILBERMEER – 2yr old bitch with decent head, good neck enough front angulation. Clean legs with good bone & feet. Good depth of chest. Slightly longer in loin than 1st. Nicley muscled quarters. Good topline. Tail carried a little high on the move, but moving soundly. RBOB.

Gundog Group

1st Sandiford’s HERNWOOD LOVE POTION JW – Gordon Setter 3yr old bitch who impressed for overall breed type and style. She oozed quality with an exquisite feminine head and lovely dark eyes providing that soft intelligent expression. Super long arched neck into a super well-placed shoulder. Tight fitting elbows straight forelegs of correct bone. Lovely depth of brisket and well-developed body. Great muscular quarters which powered her around the ring. Presented in tip-top coat and condition.

2nd Sladden’s SH CH VALCOR THE CONFESSOR AT CANEMAMANS JW – Bracco 4yr old male impressive lad he appeals for overall power and nobility stacked he presents a typical bracco outline almost square with a superb sculpted head. Excellent forehand with lovely oval bone. Chest broad and deep and correct topline. Muscular quarters which allowed him beautiful extension on the move. Presented in lovely condition.

3rd Warrington’s ZAKOVA SANTANA JW – Cocker 2yr old dog who appealed for breed type. Glorious head and melting expression. The best of fronts. Good depth of brisket. Lovely spring of ribs. Firm topline. Well angulated rear with short couplings. Moved with true cocker bustle. Turned out in the best of coats and condition.

1st McKee & Evan’s EASTDEW REWRITE THE STARS WITH EMINALA – Labrador

2nd Welch’s HOOKWOOD STARMAN JW – Pointer – 7mth old bitch who presented a lovely clean graceful balanced outline for one so young. Prettiest of headpieces displaying that aristocratic look you require. Lovely arched neck into a well laid-back shoulder. Good width of chest and brisket let down. Ribs beginning to spring and carried well back. Lovely hindquarters. Moving with super rear action. Handled sympathetically to get the most from her

3rd Warrington’s ZAKOVA SANDMAN – Cocker 9mth old dog with a lovely masculine head of correct proportions. Good neck and excellent shoulder placement. Lovely bone and compact feet. Super spring of ribs for his age and short loin. Lovely rear quarters. Firm in topline. Moving so soundly. Presented to perfection as always from this kennel

4th Sandiford’s HERNWOOD SUPERSTITION – Gorden Setter – 10mth old bitch another classy girl from this breeder. So much to like about her. Beautiful in head. Super neck and shoulders. Stood on correct bone and neat oval feet. Body beginning to develop nicely. Lovely rear angulation. Appealed for her overall steady free movement. Turned out in super coat & condition.

AV Graduate Stakes (56):

1st Saunders, Parker & McDonald’s RISEPARK STYLE SETTER – Min Schnauzer – 18mth bitch who lived up to her name of ‘Style setter’ such a smart stylish well balanced girl who commanded attention. Lovely head of correct proportions. Clean long arched neck and a well laid shoulder. Super spring of ribs and broad chest. The best of hindquarters. Correct wiry coat texture. Moving with good reach and drive. Presented in immaculate coat & condition. 

2nd Claesen’s DALSTORM JUST JIVING – Dalmatian 2yr dog masculine head correct oval shape dark eye with good set on ears. Clean in neck. Well placed shoulder with neat elbows. Good depth of chest. Hindquarters well rounded and muscular. Moving with smooth powerful action.

3rd William’s STARCEYLON BELLA NOTTE AT TIGSISLE - Whippet
