Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge both Irish Red and White Setters & Gordon Setters. . Thank you to my steward for ensuring the ring ran smoothly, and thank you to the exhibitors for your entries that made for an enjoyable day


Gordon Setters

Class 152 Puppy (2:0)

1st Sandifords, Hernwood Superstition. A nice femine bitch with pleasing soft expression and lovely dark eyes, nice low set ears, good forechest and front angulation, chest is deep, flat bone and tidy feet. Nice neck leading into level topline with correct croup, good rear angulation and tail set correctly, has had good schooling and moves really well for her age. A promising puppy. (BP)

2nd Sandifords, Hernwood Master Blaster. A very raw dog puppy compared to his 1st placed litter sister, head of correct proportions with good stop and lovely low set ears, front and rear construction are good, level topline, moved well, overall this 7 month dog has good features that I hope will develop and become stronger as he matures.

Class 153Special Yearling (4:0)

1st Poynter, Poynter & Collins, Amscot Angels & Demons. On the initial run around the ring this young dog stood out. He has a lovely head of correct proportions with a super soft expressions completed with nice dark eyes and long low set ears, super front angulation and shoulder lay back, super strong bone and good clear tan, compact body with good depth of chest and ribs that will improve as he matures, super level topline and croup, not too long from hip to hock and well muscled with good bend of stifle, on the move this boy showed great drive, style and perfect foot placement. Not overdone in any aspect and will improve further with age. Handled well and presented nicely and deserved the award of best of breed. (BOB).

2nd Sandifords, Hernwood Eternal Flame. Pretty bitch with lovely eyes, nice long arched neck acceptable front angulation and level topline good flat bone and nice clear tan, good depth of chest and spring of rib, rear angulations good with straight hocks, moved well in and out and showed drive.

Class 154 Post Graduate (1:1)

Class 155 Open (3:2)

1st, Upton-Lovett & Uptons, Roydack Portrait of a Lady. A feminine bitch with a soft expression, head of correct proportions with low set ears and nice tan, clean lines of neck and not throaty, front and rear angulations correct with lovely level topline and good tailset. Presented well with shiny coal black coat. Movement correct with good drive from the rear but appeared a little flat on grace in her movement that affected the final choice in the challenge. (RBOB)
