Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge both English & Gordon Setters. I genuinely appreciated the opportunity to judge at this open show. Thank you to my steward for ensuring the ring ran smoothly, and a special thank you to the exhibitors for your entries.

English Setters

Class 10 Yearling (1:0)

1st, Wynne-Evans. Walshaw Lets Dance for Droveborough, a young orange Belton bitch with light oval head and reasonable stop, nice oval eyes a little light, correct bite. Good front angulation with straight forarms and short pasterns, level topline with reasonable spring in rib, acceptable rear angulation, movement on this day was not as true as the BOB but pleased to award her (RBOB). Class 11 Post Graduate (2:0) 1st, Wynne-Evans. Droveborough Blue Pearl. Nice femine head with a soft expression, correct head proportions with nice dark brown eyes . Well angulated at both ends, good front with good rounded bone and tidy feet, well bodied for her age. Level topline, though tail set a little lower than I would like, on the move she showed very good drive with good extension. Overall a well balanced nice blue belton bitch that was presented well. (BOB). 2nd Salmon’s, Gillancette Bright Star. A heavy male with a masculine head, good length of neck. Not quite the front angulation of 1 but nicely bent stifles and rear angulation. Good well rounded bone, good depth of chest, level topline, not quite the balanced movement of 1 and may have benefited being taken round a little faster to really show his drive. Class 12 Open (1:1)

Gordon Setters

A pretty 10 month old bitch with pleasing expression, nice tan on muzzle and nice low set ears, nicely arched long neck, good forechest and front angulation, acceptable flat bone, tidy feet. Topline acceptable as she is going through a growing stage where she is a little high at the rear but sure will even out in the coming months, she moved well for a youngster with even straight hocks. (BP). Class 26 Special Yearling (2:1) 1st Horler & Sandifords, Hernwood Bleu Spirit to Rackens. A nice masculine deep head showing plenty of brain room nice dark eye with low set ears. Good front angulation with shoulders well laid back, nice deep chest . nice rich tan and tidy feet.
