National Working & Pastoral Breeds Society

National working and pastoral breeds premier open show. Thank you to my very efficient stewards, Ian and Grant, I also extend my appreciation to the exhibitors for their good grace and sportsmanship in accepting my decisions—it was a pleasure to judge your dogs. Australian Shepherd Puppy 1st Mrs P. Morley, Trijem Double Topaz, A six-month-old black tri-coloured bitch of promising quality, displaying moderate bone and well-balanced angulation both front and rear. She possesses a correctly proportioned, dry head with well-set ears and expressive, almond-shaped eyes, contributing to a pleasing and feminine expression. Although still very much a youngster, she was presented in excellent condition and showed herself with confidence. Her movement was sound and purposeful, particularly commendable for her age, given the size of ring and unforgiving floor surface, a steady, level topline maintained throughout. A very pleasing youngster who shows excellent potential for the future. BPIB. 2nd K Dyde, Jidace Colandrex, Black tri male, 10 months of age. Another promising youngster, presented in excellent condition and handled well. While not as dry in the head as the class winner, he possesses correct dentition and an appealing overall expression. Well-constructed with balanced angulation front and rear, and a level topline which he held steadily on the move. A quality dog who should continue to develop well with maturity. Junior 1st Mrs J Knott, Zuni Someone U Loved Fallcat, Blue merle male, recently entered into the junior class. A well-balanced and correctly constructed young dog who presents a very pleasing overall picture. He has a strong, masculine head with correct proportions and a kind, alert expression, complemented by well-set ears. His construction is sound, with good angulation front and rear, and his hocks are well let down, providing him with a solid and efficient gait. Despite the less-than-ideal flooring, he moved out well with confidence and maintained his composure throughout. Stands on tight, oval, compact feet, which contribute to his overall stability and balance. A promising young male with excellent breed type and presence. Post Grad 1st Mrs L Woodhouse, Onyxwood Ironside, Black tri bitch of attractive overall shape and ideal size. She possesses a feminine head with no loss of strength, displaying correct proportions and a confident, alert expression. Her neck is clean and flows smoothly into well-placed shoulders. She carries moderate bone and stands on neat, compact feet. Her height-to-length ratio is correct, giving a harmonious and well-balanced profile. She is well sprung in rib and has well let down hocks, contributing to her sound construction. Expertly handled and presented to her best advantage. A quality bitch with plenty of promise. RBOB 2nd Mrs C Hunt, Shepwood Grey Knight Blue merle male with a strong, masculine head, though slightly more substantial than ideal for overall balance. He has a good length of neck flowing into moderately angled shoulders. Forearms are straight and well-set, and he shows good rear angulation, giving a functional outline. Moved soundly and confidently around the ring with good drive from behind. Well-muscled and in excellent condition, he was handled with such kindness. A lovely dog with many admirable features. Open 1st Miss T L Cowley, Sparkaway Ladies Man Black tri male of smaller build, yet comfortably within the breed standard. He presents a very pleasing outline with correct proportions and balance throughout. Well-sprung ribs and a body that is slightly longer than tall, though I would prefer a touch more leg length to enhance overall symmetry. He has a nicely arched neck flowing into well-laid shoulders, a level topline, and a good turn of stifle. Moderate tuck-up and well let down hocks contribute to a sound, efficient structure. Shown in excellent condition and handled with confidence, he stood out for his overall harmony and breed type—well deserving of Best of Breed. 2nd MILLIGAN & MARLEY, Allmark On One Hand With Alfsden, Blue merle bitch with much to admire. She has a strong, well-proportioned head that retains femininity and breed character. Ample length of neck flowing into well-laid shoulders and a correctly angled upper arm. Balanced rear angulation complements the front assembly, with well let down hocks contributing to her overall strength and drive. She presents a clean and balanced outline, with both topline and underline well defined. A nice bitch with good breed type and structural balance. 3rd Mr A & Mrs P Barr, Allmark Yogi Bear
