Best in show report

Any thanks to the officers and committee for their kind invitation to judge Best in Show. The hospitality was second to none.

A lovely atmosphere prevailed with judging outside on the grass – nothing better for a pastoral breed.

For Best in show it was a choice between the rough male Beldones Ivory Star (now Ch) and the smooth male Blamorder Magic Maker with Freejack JW, both sables.

Ivory Star has charisma and quality in buckets and it would’ve needed something very special to beat him today (indeed he went BIS at the second show as well). He is in super coat , has quality head properties, super ears , an excellent masculine outlook and powered around the ring with no effort whatsoever and I was thrilled to award him Best in Show.

For Rbis the challenge was between the reserve best of Breed rough and the smooth. The rough challenger was the sable male puppy Chantique the Witcher – a quality puppy with many attributes – he has a sweet head and expression, a good neck, correct ears and topline. The smooth Magic Maker is all male and quality and in excellent condition and he too like Ivory Star could really power around the ring. I was pleased to award him Rbis- congratulations and well done on repeating the award at the second show.

Best puppy in show was then between Chantique the Witcher and the baby smooth collie Manordeifi Hijacked by Blamorder. Two extremes of maturity and again both quality. The Witcher moved far better in this challenge that the Rbis one and it was a pleasure to award him Bpis – again an award he repeated at the second show, well done.

Best veteran in show was a challenge between the same owners exhibits. The blue merle smooth Ch Oakestelle Artemis ShCEx and the sable rough Ch Brooklynson Jane Russell of Oakestelle VW Shcex. Both quality girls deserving their titles but I preferred the extra feminity of the smooth who moved with more accuracy on the day
