Staffordshire & Birmingham Agricultural Society

Breed: Open Show
STAFFORDSHIRE & BIRMINGHAM AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY OPEN SHOW. Thursday 29th May 2025. I would like to express my gratitude to the Officers and Committee of The Staffordshire and Birmingham Agricultural Society, for their kind invitation to judge Boxers and Rottweiler’s at this lovely show, two breeds that I have followed and admired for some years. My appreciation goes to my stewards for the day, who kept the ring flowing smoothly. A final thank you to the exhibitors who supported with your entries and for allowing me the privilege of assessing your beautiful dogs, and accepting my decisions with great sportsmanship. BOXER PUPPY – (0) JUNIOR – (1,1) POST GRADUATE – (1,0) 1st SMITH, SLANSTORM SUPANATURAL DEAN A 2 year old red male, masculine head, broad, deep, well padded muzzle, top of skull slightly arched, ears of moderate size. Neck round, muscular without dewlap, leading to a slightly sloping topline when stacked, would prefer a better shoulder placement. Presented in a well conditioned glossy, smooth coat. Good bend of stifle, thigh, curved and well muscled. Tail Carried high, moved soundly around the ring, handled well, even with a change of handler for movement nothing phased this male who seemed eager to please and displayed a lovely calm even temperament. OPEN – (1,0) 1st SMITH, SLANSTORM SUPANATURAL SAM A Brindle female of 3 years old presented in good coat condition. Dark expressive eyes with matching dark rims giving the breed typical lively and intelligent expression, no mistaking her gender as she is so feminine. Strong, broad muzzle, which is well padded, distinctive stop, lower jaw curving slightly upward with undershot dentition. Sufficient length of neck and straight parallel front assembly, leading on to small cat like feet. Topline sloping, underline well tucked up, adequate hind quarters. Tail set high and carried gaily. Moved out with ease and totally in tune with her handler. BEST OF BREED. ROTTWEILER PUPPY – (1,0) 1st WILLIAMS, VARENKA DARE TO DREAM. A Sweet, good natured 7 month old female puppy just starting out on her apprenticeship, and making her handler work. Still very much in the development stage but has some lovely attributes for the breed. Pleasing head with almond shaped dark clean eyes, black large nose with open nostrils. Rich tan, clearly defined markings, well off for size and substance for one so young, good boned limbs. Chest developing, topline strong and held well for her age. Second thigh showing evident muscle. A little excitable on the move but always lovely to see a young puppy enjoying their time in the ring. I feel with a little more schooling, this would really benefit them both to complete the picture. I will follow with interest. BEST PUPPY. JUNIOR – (0) POST GRADUATE – (1,1) OPEN – (1,0) 1st CARTWRIGHT, MNE CH SHAMAN WIZARD MONTENEGRO ROTT MIT STEIGEN (IMP MNE) NAF TAF. Medium sized three year old male, who I learned later in the day, had recently arrived into this country. Although slightly unsettled on the examination today, the handler was sympathetic giving him the confidence and time to enable me to continue the hands on assessment. Masculine head, ears set high, which he used to his advantage, giving an alert, bold expression. Almond shaped dark eye. Good front assembly leading onto straight well boned limbs, angles matching those of the well muscled rear. Presented a compact overall balanced outline, good under carriage and depth of brisket. Moved out well with endurance and purpose, tail carried in a half moon fashion. I will watch with interest as this partnership develops, I am sure with time and patience from his skilful handler, we will then see him presented to his full potential in the future. BEST OF BREED.
