Land O’Burns Canine Club Sunday 7th December 2025

I would like to thank the committee of Land O’Burns Canine Club for the invitation to judge Golden Retrievers at their December 2025 show. Thank you to my stewards on the day for keeping me right and all the exhibitors for their entries. Lovely show and was made very welcome.

RETRIEVERS (GOLDEN)

Class 153 Retriever (Golden) Puppy (2 Entries, 1 Absent)

1 Carlton – Thistlegate Sonoma Moon – 8.5 month old male in lovely golden coat, moved round the ring at ease with his handler keeping his level topline. Good depth of chest, forelegs straight and shoulders well laid back. Symmetrical in shape, with lovely head and kind expression.

Class 154 Retriever (Golden) Junior (4 Entries, 2 Absent)

1 McGuffie – Auristela Clark Gable with Milltimber – 15 month old male in lovely golden coat, beautiful head and expression. Gave his handler a bit of a hard time today but when he was settled and set up, he was very balanced and symmetrical in shape, ribs deep and well sprung. Forelegs straight with round cat like feet, lots to like about him.

2 – Carlton – Thistlegate Sonoma Moon (as per puppy)

Class 108 Retriever (Golden) Post Graduate (4 Entries, 2 Absent)

1 MacLeod – Bluebraes Bidey in at Rocamar – 2.5 year old male in lovely full golden coat. I have judged this boy before when he was a Junior and he has matured beautifully over the past year. Deep in chest with good spring of rib and short coupled. Lovely masculine head with a soft expression. He moved well with his handler today and free stood lovely.

2. Paterson – Timeless Dreams in Summer of Sunshine’s Valley (IMP BEL) – 5 Year Old Female in lovely pale coat. Beautiful feminine head and kind expression. Forelegs straight with good bone, very balanced and symmetrical in shape. Feet round and cat like, moved well with handler.

Class 109 Retriever (Golden) Open (5 Entries, 3 Absent)

1 Paterson – Trystinthorn Miss Eliza – 5 year old female in gleaming darker golden coat, beautiful feminine head and lovely pigment. Forelegs straight with good bone and shoulders well laid back, good length of neck. Lovely level topline which she kept on the move and at one with her handler. Good depth of chest and well sprung ribs, lovely example of the breed. Pleased to award her Best of Breed

2 Carlton – Fhairmhor Moonlight Sonata at Thistlegate – 4 year old female, presented in lovely golden coat, moved beautifully with handler and never stopped wagging her tail. Lovely feminine head and good length of neck. Free stood, which showed off her symmetrical shape and level topline. Forelegs straight and well laid back shoulders.
