Thank you to the show committee for the invite to judge. My thanks also goes to everyone who entered today.  I had some lovely quality exhibits to assess that showed themselves beautifully and are a credit to their owners.  I also had several rather excitable and exuberant youngsters (and older ones) in the different breeds. I make no excuse for being patient and giving them a little more time to acclimatize and settle in the ring. To my stewards I have to say a big thank you.  They efficiently saw their role to the end on what I know was a longer day than anticipated for them.     

PASTORAL GROUP

1:   KRISENDAW KASSIA FOR FLUFEBUSTLES - Old English Sheepdog.

2:  Austin & Zolakova Ms S P & Miss K. SH CH/NLD CH HYSTEPS MY IRISH COLLEEN JW - Border Collie. 3yrs. I have seen this bitch progress through her classes since a young puppy and have placed he highly on more than one occasion. She is a super example of the breed, correctly constructed and sound all round with a typical ground covering gait.   

3:  POTTERDALE HERITAGE ShCEx - Bearded Collie.

4:  Hulse & Adam’s Mrs H L & Miss C. BABANEIRA KENSINGTON AT FABLECROFT - Welsh Corgi (Pembroke). 3yrs. A mature male with well-balanced body, a masculine head and expression with a skull and foreface of good proportions.  He has sound forequarters with straight front legs and a strong neck of good length. Carrying a dense coat, he moved soundly with tight fitting elbows showing ample reach and drive.

PASTORAL PUPPY GROUP

1:  Coates Mrs P F. DURRCOR LUNA ECLIPSE - Welsh Corgi (Pembroke). 11mths B. This lovely red & white caught my eye entering the ring full of confidence and an expressive strut that defied you not to look at her. Beautiful presentation.  Lovely head properties with dark round eyes and that foxy appearance.  Very well laid shoulders and good angulation in the hindquarters. Good bone and showed great confidence on the move being sound from all angles and keeping a level topline.  She is not the complete picture yet, but I believe with maturity there will be no stopping her.  Well done.

Puppy (2:1 abs)

1st Peacock, Miss A.  ECCLESTAR ALL SHOOK UP 6mths. A medium boned youngster of 6mths with a balanced head and pleasing definition, good mouth, dark eye and broad between the ears. Strong neck, level back with good reach and drive on the move, sound coming and going, needs more time to firm up.  B.P.

Special Yearling (2:1abs)

1st Hewitt & Francis Miss A & Mr D.  KIRAZ WIZARD MONTENEGRO ROTT (IMP NME) NAF TAF 16mths.  A medium sized female of good type showing ample bone and a well-balanced outline.  Good temperament.  Lovely head pattern with good expression, dark eyes, well placed ears, good cheek bone and correct dentition.  Carries a level topline, shows enough reach and good drive on the move from her well angulated hindquarters. Well-muscled and sound coming and going with tight feet.   In the challenge she was a little more settled and flowed around the ring more positively to take B.O.B today.

1st Hewitt & Francis Miss A & Mr B.  DZEZ WIZARD MONTENEGRO ROTT (IMP) NAF TAF 2yrs B. A lovely feminine head and dark brown eyes with a strong muscular neck of good length. Good spring of ribs, pleasing angulation with good depth of chest and short strong hocks. Showed a good stride on the move. 

2nd Watts & Gibbard Mrs L & Mrs R.  JEZEVE HOT TOTTIE 2yrs B. A pleasing head and expression. Body a tad long coming from the loin area therefore not giving good overall balance. Kept a level topline on the move but not the drive of 1.

1st Hewitt & Francis Miss A & Mr B.  Ch. CONSTANTIN WIZARD MONTENEGRO ROTT (IMP) NAF TAF 3yrs D.  A powerful dog of good breed type with plenty of bone and substance, presented in firm condition. Good temperament, well-proportioned head correct length of neck, well laid shoulders a balanced body with good depth of brisket and well-set tail.  Reserve B.O.B

2nd Piggott & Gibbard, Miss N & MRS R.  JEZEVE LOVE JUNKIE 2yrs.  A pleasing female of good size and substance. Good expression, broad skull and well-placed ears.  Stands soundly and kept a firm topline on the move with enough drive. A tad steep in upper arm, not quite as firm overall as the winner.

1st Knott Mrs J.  ZUNI SOMEONE YOU LOVED FALLCAT JW 19mths.  A handsome blue merle with a masculine head on this young male who was very well presented in the ring carrying good muscle and moderate bone.  Good head proportions with correct bite, well defined stop and distinctive expression from his brown and blue eyes.  Well-constructed fore & hindquarters and well let down hocks.  Balanced depth of brisket to leg length. Movement was sound from all angles with a steady free flowing gait, keeping his level topline.  Stood alone today but a worthy B.O.B.

1st Lewis & Moreland Mr M, Mrs J & Mrs D.  POTTERDALE PRIME ROSE 8mths.  A very pretty slate & white with such a feminine expression from her well-proportioned head, toning eye colour and correct scissor bite.  Good bone.  Well laid shoulders, neat elbows, good body length and lovely rear angulation with well let down hocks. Lovely smooth movement as she settled. B.P. & Reserve B.O.B

2nd Osborne Mr M A & Mrs M J.  POTTERDALE PRIME EDITION 8mths D.  Litter brother to the winner.  A masculine boy with a good head pattern, dark eye and a cheeky expression.  Showing many of the attributes of his sister.  Good shape in the forequarters, well sprung ribs with good depth and a nice flow over the croup.  Sound on the move coming and going, showed good driving action but not quite the reach of his sister today.

1st Reynolds Mr C L.  BEABEARDIES BLUE VELVET 15mths. A medium size dog with good bone, nice balance and of good type. Pleasing head pattern and correct eye shape. A good length of neck and depth of brisket.  Nice angulation to the rear and moved with straight legs coming and going. Moved freely in side profile but feel he needs a bit more muscle to give a firmer body and tighter front. Pleased to see his coat is more settled than the last time I judged him.

2nd Bevis Mrs L.  BEABEARDIES BLUE MONDAY 15mths B. Litter sister to 1 with a pleasing feminine head and good eye colour.  Moderate neck with a flowing arch into her topline and neat hocks. Does need to settle more on the move to show her attributes to the best advantage but certainly seemed to be enjoying her day.

1st Dobrowolski Mr D, Mrs T & Ms L.  HIGHGLADE MOONCHILDAT TRILEADA 2yrs B. Feminine with a more refined head, well laid shoulders and good depth of brisket, correct tail set carried well.  Kept her topline on the move, could carry more overall muscle.

2nd Brown Miss S D.  HIGHGLADE REASON TO BELIEVE 2yrs. A slate & white male of top size carrying good bone and coat.  Correct head proportions for his body with good pigmentation. Topline could be firmer on the move.

1st Salmon Mr W J & Mrs J S.  POTTERDALE HERITAGE ShCEx 5yrs. Lovely male of good type that appealed to my eye. Lovely masculine head and expression of good proportions, strong neck. lovely bone throughout and very pleased to find him in good coat and well-muscled. Construction wise everything is in the right place with nice angulation in fore and hindquarters. On the move sound fore and aft with straight forelegs.  Flowing side profile showing long reach and good drive from firm hocks.  Well deserved B.O.B.

2nd Bevis Mrs L.  BEABEARDIES CINNAMON GIRL.  A well-balanced bitch with a good head pattern, broad skull with moderate stop and strong muzzle, eye colour matching coat. Well laid shoulders and tight elbows. Well ribbed and good rear angulation.  Sound movement front & rear keeping her topline going around the ring but not matching the reach and drive of 1 today.

1st Corben Mrs P.  SEOIRSIN SHOOTING STAR VIA CAPRIOARA 11mths D.  Sable & white with a masculine wedge-shaped head. Ok body length, pleasing rear angulation, hocks a little on the long side.  Movement was loose with lack of muscle throughout the body and splayed feet. Better conditioning of this young dog would improve his outcomes in the ring. B.P.

1st Bartram Mr C P.  AMBARTR’S DIGNITY AND PRIDE 16mths, sable and white, she has a feminine head with well set almond eyes and good ear carriage. and a kind intelligent expression, good length of neck, well ribbed with good depth, good rear angulation and tail carriage.  Movement was smooth and light.

2nd Gatt Miss M J.  WICANI BELLADONNA 12mths B. Different in type and not the refinement in head properties as 1, dark eyes, a bit round. She is well balanced with strong hocks and moved easily around the ring.

1st Jackson Mrs S P, Miss M D, Mr I M & Miss A L.  CHANTIQUE TICKETY BOO 2yrs B. A feminine head with a smooth outline, wedge shape with well-placed eyes of good colour, flat skull, ears carriage a little wide.  A well-balanced body, good bone, pleasing rear angulation and well bent stifles. Nice driving action. Reserve B.O.B.

1st Bartram Mr C P. AMBARTR KING OF THE RING 8yrs D, Sable & white. A very pleasing type, of good size and balanced throughout. Presented in lovely coat and condition.  Masculine wedge-shaped head in balance with his body size and a dignified expression. Good depth of chest and length of body.  Smooth outline over the croup, tail well set and of ok length. Movement was sound and free from all angles keeping his level topline.  B.O.B.

2nd Corben, Melanie & Melanie. ATIRAKIN SNOW SLIDES ON HIGH VIA CAPRIOARA 4yrs. In complete contrast to the winner this male tri colour was not in the best of condition for the show ring. Body needs to be more filled out, and more exercise would help tone the muscle and tighten his feet.  He clearly has a lovely temperament, was presented in clean condition and his young handler did the best he could to present him in a positive way.

1st Mann Mr D & Mrs M.  KRISENDAW KASSIA FOR FLUFEBUSTLES 19mths.  Entered the ring full of energy and was presented in beautiful condition, she did not disappoint me when going over her. Lovely head shape in proportion with her body, square looking with a well-defined stop, nice eye, well positioned and of good colour with correct bite. Strong neck and well-toned muscle throughout her body. Neat fitting elbows and well laid shoulders and good depth of brisket. Typical square body outline showing correct topline both standing and on the move.  A clean arch over her croup, good turn of stifle and neat low set hocks. Typical movement showing good reach and powerful drive from the rear.  A little more harmony between dog and handler on the move would take them to the next level but did not distract me from her obvious qualities.  Pleased to award them B.O.B. & Group 1.

Pullen Mrs L A.  MELLOWDEE SWEET XENA FOR MEADOWBEARS  2yrs B. Nicely proportioned head with good eye colour. Well angulated through the front and rear and straight forelegs and hocks coming and going and nice angle over her croup.  Side profile showed steadier movement and not the power in rear drive.

1st Mann Mr D & Mrs M.  BLAIRDON THE WATER OF LIFE FOR FLUFEBUSTLES 3yrs. A masculine dog, strong boned and with a bold character.  Balanced head with good eye colour.  Well laid shoulders with good spring of ribs and correct balance.  Well set tail and strong hocks. Moved with good front reach and powerful drive but rear went a little awry when pulling his handler around. Reserve B.O.B.

1st Taylor & Yuille Mr K & Mr R.  SHELRIDGE SNOWFLAKE AT CHELMERMEAD 10mths B.  A pretty tri-merle. A nicely maturing head of good proportions that just needs to catch up with the ears a bit. Pleasing body shape with good angulation to fore & hindquarters, sound front, clean firm hocks and a well-set tail, sound on the move all round. B.P.

2nd Mitchell Miss A. VALDOSTA JE AMOUR 7mths.  A young tri colour male with a pleasing head and sweet expression. Sound shoulders, very good rear angulation and an easy gait on the move.  Looking very much the baby in this class he put in a good performance and I look forward to seeing him develop further. 

3rd Weller Mrs D K. EVAD HALLOWEEN TZAR.

1st Stock Mrs S. SHELMIST CORNFLOWER 19mths B. Very feminine merle, with nice head proportions.  Body sound and well put together with medium bone, good front, excellent rear angulation and tail set.  Moved smoothly around the ring with drive. 

2nd Durant Miss K L.  MISTY MOON OVER NERAKLEE 12mths B.   More substance than 1, nice shoulders, good rear angulation Splitting hairs between these two just preferred the balance and maturity of 1.

1st Réveillé Mrs D D. STANYDALE SECRET DREAM AT NERAKLEE 2 ½ yrs Tri colour. Small/petite bitch with a very feminine head and expression.  Very good front and shoulders, sound topline, gradual slope over the croup, well angulated and a neat body with good depth, short strong hocks.

2nd Mettan-Ure Miss L. SAVENDIE MELEYS 14mths B.  A tricolour with a neat feminine head, lovely expression, good eye shape and well balanced.  I judged her 6mths ago and can see she is improving with maturity.  Unfortunately, has dropped ‘all’ her coat.  It does make it easier to see her sound construction, but her hocks appeared a tad long. 

3rd Rutherford Ms J. MYTER BLACK TARQUIN AT STORMHEAD 2yrs D.

1st Mettan-Ure Miss L.  OAKCROFTS VENTURER AVEC SAVENDIE 5yrs. A mature sable & white male with a sweet yet masculine expression, good eye and well-set ears. Good length of neck flowing into his shoulders and firm topline. Pleasing hindquarters and good turn of stifle.  A well-balanced body presented in good coat and condition.  Moved soundly coming and going showing a smooth profile. Reserve B.O.B.

2nd Rutherford Miss J.  KELGROVE MIDSUMMER BLUE AT STORMHEAD 7yrs. Blue merle, well balanced with good head properties, eyes airing on the round side for me.  Well placed ears and moved true at the front showing good ground cover. 

3rd Revill Miss D D.   MOSARDI DON’T STOP ME 3yrs.

1st Mitchell Miss A.  VALDOSTA GODDESS JW 3yrs. Lovely sable & white bitch with balanced bone and body.  Very feminine head and sweet expression, balanced wedge shape with small active ears and correct eye set and shape.  Well angulated front and rear shown off to her best in a natural free stance.  Lovely tail set and length. Moved gracefully around the ring with a smooth stride and good reach and drive.  Best mover today. B.O.B.

2nd Stock Mrs S. SHELMIST FALLEN ANGEL 3yrs tri colour with pretty head and expression, a lot to like about this bitch good angulation front and rear, nice depth of chest, pleasing line over the croup with well set tail, moved well with enough reach and drive.

1st Foreman Miss M. STORMFIELD AYSA AT MARAZZO - Briard. 4yrs.  A fawn bitch of good size and a lovely type.  She has good head proportions with parallel head planes, well placed large dark eyes and well-defined stop. Good length of neck and angulation to her forequarters.  Good depth of rib, nice tail set, length and carriage with a hook. Correct double dew claws.  A good ground covering gait sound overall but felt she could have just shown a little more extension. Best A.V.N.S.C.

2nd Shrieves Ms L J.  INT/IR/NLD/LUX/DK/BEL/SW CH MYBEARDS HOPE BEL/NLD/LUX/VCH IR CENT CH AN CH22 CW 19/22/23 BW22 - Polish Lowland Sheepdog. 9yrs Reserve Best A.V.N.S.C. I gave this girl best veteran in breed a few months back at Driffield Ch Show.  She is very feminine with a pretty head and expression with all points in the right place. Correct balance and angulation both front and rear. Good bone matching her overall size.  Sound on the move fore aft and in profile however today she seemed full of mischief enjoying herself and bouncing around the ring like a naughty puppy!

These youngsters certainly made an entrance.  Siblings that found meeting up again in the confines of a show ring somewhat over exciting.  All had good temperaments, were friendly and confident. Their 3 handlers worked hard to try and get their exhibits more settled for me to assess.

1st Briggs Mrs C D. WHITEHEMI’S COUNTACH FIONNCONRI - White Swiss Shepherd. 9mths.  Looking more mature than his sisters with his masculine head. Correct head properties with well set ears and eyes.   Good length of body, depth of brisket and strong hindquarters, balanced, with a nice outline. Sound on the move with flashes of his ample reach and drive.  Reserve Best A.V.I.B.R. & Best Puppy A.V.I.B.R.

2nd Henshaw Mr C & Mrs D.  WHITEHEMI’S CROSSLEY - White Swiss Shepherd. 9mths. Very similar in maturity, build and behaviour to her sister, both having an obvious feminine head, pleasing bone and developing muscle. This girl managed to stand and move around the ring on all four feet just a little more than her sister!

1st Glading Miss H & Mrs P. RABBITVILLE FAUVE AVEC MAVAYA - Picardy Sheepdog.  5yrs B. Best A.V.I.B.R. She is a solid well-muscled, fawn bitch unfortunately lacking some of her coat today. A previous winner of mine she has lost none of her qualities mentioned in my previous write up.  Typical head of good proportions with convex forehead, defined stop, a strong foreface and natural high set ears. Strong neck, close tight-fitting shoulders and good angulation reflected over the rear. Movement was sound fore and aft; side profile showed a level topline with moderate reach and drive covering the ground easily. Best A.V.I.R.Pastoral.

2nd Cheal Mrs M. CAROLELEN CALL MY BLUFF AT FAEMADRA 7yrs - Shetland Sheepdog. A super feminine bitch, very pretty with a delicate expression.  Pleasing head, good shoulders, well angulated rear with a well-set tail.  Moved free and easy.

3rd Benton Mis M K. CH OAKESTELLE ARTEMISS ShCEx VW - Collie (Smooth).

1st BEARBEARDIES CINNAMON GIRL – Bearded Collie.

2nd SIANWORTH RUSTIC FLAME FOR KELTICLAN - Border Collie 4yrs. Lovely presentation.  Nice head and matching eye colour though ears a tad heavy. Good length of neck.  She has a lean workman-like body and moved round the ring soundly and steady.   

3rd SHELRIDGE QUIZMASTER AT CHELMERMEAD – Shetland Sheepdog.
