Breed: Retriever (Labrador)

Kirkcaldy & District Canine Club – 19/4/25

Labradors

Thank you so much to the society for their kind invitation to judge at this show and to the Labrador Club of Scotland for their support of the classes. With a Breed championship show on the same day, I really appreciated the exhibitors entries and many thanks to Paul for being such an efficient steward.

Puppy (0,0)

Junior (2,1a)

1 Lawrence’s Dunnabbey Funny Girl – Chocolate B (17m) Feminine head with good eye colour, nice reach of neck into well placed shoulders. Enough harsh coat, nice amount of bone with straight forelegs on neat feet. Balanced outline with a good otter tail straight off the back. Moved with ease around the ring.

Post Graduate (4,1a)

1 Scrimgeour’s Velvetine Willow – Black B (5 yr) A lovely feminine head with good eye colour and melting expression. Good reach of neck into correct front assembly. A well developed forechest and enough bone onto neat feet always standing foursquare. Harsh coat and well balanced in outline. Well muscled hindquarters used to advantage moving steady fore and aft around the ring. BOB

2 Ireland’s Barold’s Black Coral – Black B ( 3 yr) A nice shaped head with good eye colour. Good reach of neck with correct angulations front and back. Harsh coat, enough bone and moved out well once settled. Just preferred overall outline of 1.

Open (5,1a)

1 Irelands’s Shanorrell Sydney – Black B (6 yr) Another with a lovely shaped head and feminine expression. A good harsh and thick coat, best of today. Enough bone and good feet, level topline leading to a thick otter tail. Deep in chest but angulations were correct front and back. Moved out well, would have been my RBOB.

2 Farquharson’s Ramsayville Russian Rhythm – Yellow B (4 yr) Balanced head of good proportions with good pigment, strong neck leading to well placed shoulders. Enough bone, well sprung ribs and level topline. Not in best coat today but moved true round the ring.
