Breed: Retriever (Golden)

Huntingdonshire Canine Society – 16/8/25

Thank you to the Secretary and committee for the invitation to judge Golden Retrievers. Thanks also to the exhibitors for your entries and for accepting my placings. My stewards kept the ring running smoothly at this lovely outdoor show where the weather was on our side and perfect for the dogs.

Minor Puppy (4,1a)

1 Webb & Smith’s Waterbabies Walk Tall at Hectson (imp ita) – 6 m D, Caught my eye as soon as he walked in the ring. A perfect sized head for his age, good pigment and eye colour. Stands on neat feet with enough bone for a youngster. Good forechest, level topline and having a balanced outline standing and on the move. Lacking in coat at the moment but showing feathering on the tail. Moved out well. BP

2 Poile & Blackboro’s Cherrimar Electra – 7 m B, Darker coat than 1, feminine head with good pigment. Nice reach of neck into a level topline. Neat feet and well off for bone. Body is longer set than 1 but still shows a balanced outline. Moved well.

1 Repeat Minor Puppy (1st)

2 Mears’ Ambersun Winter Storm – 9 m D, Masculine head with good pigment. Well off for bone on neat feet. Would have preferred a better reach of neck but topline was good and tail straight. Plenty of coat and good feathering. Moved ok.

Junior (5, 3a)

1 Repeat Puppy (2nd)

2 Low’s Bernmags Miss Chanel – 13 m B, Mid golden, feminine head, good pigment, nice reach of neck leading to a level topline. Neat feet, enough bone but would prefer more substance throughout. Moved ok once settled.

2 Webb & Smiths’ Waterbabies A Sea of Faces to Hectson (imp ita) – 23 m D, Lighter in coat than 1, masculine head with a good muscular reach of neck. Deep in chest, good length of leg and short coupled. Would prefer tighter feet.
