Lowchen (Little Lion Dog) Club

Lowchen (Little Lion Dog) Club Open Show

12th April 2025

Thank you to the membership of the Lowchen Club for voting for me to judge their April Open Show this. Having lived with Lowchen for the last 10 years it is a breed very close to my heart. While not strong numerically, the quality in the breed cannot be denied and I thoroughly enjoyed my day. Thank you to the committee for their hospitality and special thanks to my two stewards, Alice and Mel for keeping the ring running smoothly and keeping me on track. Finally, thank you to the exhibitors for your entries and for taking my placements in a sportsmanship manner.

PD (2,1) 1 Morgan Stanley’s Golbourne’s Toy Boy Very smart 11 month old Particolour with a super eye and broad flat skull. Nice length of neck with well laid back shoulders and good bone. Well sprung ribs with short loin. Very positive movement and a lovely typical attitude. Will have a bright future I am sure. BPD & BPIS

JD (2,1) 1 Richardsons’ Melcia Right Said Fred for Hollinsclose 14 month old boy who has a lovely head with super expression set off by lovely dark sparkling eyes. Nice layback of shoulders with good length of back with level top. He appeared to move a little wide in front but I feel this was due to looking up at his owner. Well presented.

YD (1,0) 1 Morgan Stanley’s Golbourne’s A Diamond Another precocious youngster with lots to like. Very much a showman who was clearly enjoying his time in the ring. Super head, lovely dark eye and correct bite. Good length of neck leading to well laid back shoulders. Would prefer him just a touch shorter in back. Good coat presented in good order.

PGD (1,0) 1 Chapman and King’s Bigglesmere Just a Silly Fase at Rishkhan (a.i) Smaller in stature but still masculine in type. Good head giving a typical appealing expression with dark kind eye. Would prefer a little more forechest. Moved out well.

LD (2,0) 1 Richardsons’ Hollinsclose As It Was Lovely young boy with typical happy temperament. Pleasing head with lovely kind eye. Well laid back shoulders with good bone. Level topline with length coming from well sprung ribs. Nicely angulated rear with good turn of stifle. Pleased to award him RBD 2 Chapman and King’s Jameneli Look Who’s Back at Rishkhan Upstanding young male with lots of qualities to like about him. Super head and kind eye. Good square profile on the stand. Coat a little profuse. Not wanting to co-operate with his handler on the move today which made it difficult to assess.

OD (2,0) 1 Pascoes’ Ch/Multi Ch Jadechar Flashback Hero All male particolour with lots to like about him. Presented a lovely shape on the stand. Super head with correct head pattern and dark kind eye. Correct bite. Well laid back shoulders leading to well sprung rib. Moved out well. 2 Bicknall & Marron’s Charles Noblesa Aura (Imp Cze) Another lovely boy of similar shape and type to 1. Good head, again with lovely expression. Correct square body with well sprung ribs and good tuck up of loin. Moved out with purpose. Just preferred the rear angulation of 1.

VD (2,0) 1 Morgan Stanley’s Ch/Multi Ch Golbourne’s Diamond Noir avec Debrita JW ShCm VW What a fantastic way to end the male judging. Just loved this super boy who belied his 11 years of age. Fabulous head with dark eye giving typical sparkling expression. Well laid back shoulders with good length of rib and correct loin. Rear angulation to match front. He moved out with purpose and a ‘look at me’ attitude. Delighted to award him BD, BIS & BVIS. His breeders/owners to be commended on his condition. 2 Godfrey and Peacock’s Golbourne’s Dark Obsession Another lovely boy from this clever kennel. Slightly longer caste than 1 with good head and well laid back shoulder. Slightly longer caste than 1 and a little reluctant to move on the floor today.

PB (1,0) 1 Morgan Stanley’s Golbourne’s Cherish The Love. Litter sister to my BPIS, she has many qualities to like about her. Ultra feminine with a pretty head and kind eye. Correct bite and good pigment. Compact body with matching front and rear angulation. Coat needs to settle. She presented a challenge to her handler but moved out well when she settled down.

JB (1,0) Winter’s Prodigieux Amazing Amber. Composed young lady just under a year old. I was very impressed with her – lovely head with large dark eyes and good pigment. Correct bite. Well laid back shoulder with well sprung rib and short loin. Rear angulation matching front and a lovely rounded bottom! Super coat of good texture finished the picture. BPB, in the challenge for BPIS she had lost a little of her sparkle so had to settled for RBPIS. One I will watch with interest!
