Pollard Canine Society

Thank you to the Committee for inviting me to judge. Even with the damp weather the spirt of the Club was wonderful to be part of. It was lovely to see the Committee & all the helpers/supporters having a great day. I throughly enjoyed my judging, accompanied by two lovely and efficient slightly but damp stewards, and lastly thanks to the exhibitors for giving up their time braving a very wet Saturday.

Spanish Water Dogs

PG (2/2)
O (2/1) withheld- Darwesh - Chanderhill Smart Edition for Elizard JW.
I was unable to get near this nearly 2 year old dog in order to assess him.

Chesapeake Bay Retrievers

PG (1/1)

O (4/2) 1. Broomfield, Broomfield, Mahon-Hunns & Newton - Glaneils Don’t Worry Be Happy. A first glance you see a well proportioned bitch, with a lovely chesapeake outline. She is feminine in appearance with a medium stop, correct muzzle to skull lengths. Correct scissor bite. Strong, medium length of neck into flowing well placed shoulders. Shoulders well laid back, correct leg to body ratio. Well sprung ribs, with deep chest. Typical Chesapeake topline with a slight rise to the withers. With a correct tuck up. Strong rear giving her a lovely balance throughout. Strong and powerful movement which she used to drive round the ring. Correct harsh, oily double coat. BOB.

2. Rigby - Sh Ch Chesepi Waco. Just carrying a little summer weight. Lovely outline to this male. Broad head, with medium shaped eyes. Eyes correct dark amber colour for the coat. Medium strong neck into well placed shoulders. Good bone/substance. Well sprung ribs, strong loin with muscled rear. Moved with some drive - just not that of 1 today. RBOB.

German Shorthaired Pointer
J (4/3) 1. Trow - Winterwell Folies Berger. Certainly a masculine dog, with a workman like appearance. Clean cut head with which is well proportioned to body. Broad skull. Medium eyes with a soft expression. Moderately long neck flowing into well placed shoulders. Still young with time for his body to mature and fill out that being said, what he has is all in the right places. Nice depth of chest. Firm short back. Correct tail set. Well muscled rear. Smooth, easy movement. BP, RBOB. Lovely to see him go Puppy Gundog Group 1.

PG (1/1)

O (4/2) 1. Trow - Sh Ch Faye Treacle Tart with Winterwell JW (AI). Graceful outline to this bitch. Head was clean cut and ideally proportioned to her body. Not over done. Moderately long neck flowing into well placed sloping shoulders. Front was straight when viewed from the front. Lovely deep chest with a good spring of rib to her. Lovely strong thighs, good turn of stifle. Muscled throughout which she used elegantly but with purpose on the move. BOB and pleased to see she got a shortlist in the group.

2. Jowsey - Winterwell Stoney Trail. Similar in type to 1. Just preferred the drive and substance of 1. Lovely bitch with a graceful outline. Well proportioned body, skull correctly broad & slightly round. Moderate long neck flowing into well placed sloping shoulders. Correct depth and width of chest. Correct tuck up, would prefer a little less slope to the croup. Well muscled throughout, which she did use on the move, would like a little more drive to her movement.

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever

PG (4/3) 1. Burgess - Redmanhey’s Comte De La Fere. Medium sized dog. Correct slight wedge shaped head. Board with a slight rounded skull. Correct triangular shaped ears, set high and alert. Clean, medium length neck flowing into well laid back shoulders. Elbows tight to the body. Deep chest with well sprung ribs. Level topline which was held at all times, including on the move. Well muscled rear, balanced front and rear angulations to complete the picture. Moved with a spring in his step, good reach and parallel fore and aft. BOB.
