WEALDSTONE & NORTHOLT CANINE SOCIETY OPEN SHOW

My thanks to the committee for their kind invitation to judge at this well-run show, held at one of my favourite venues. A friendly atmosphere prevailed, and it was a pleasure to judge outdoors in such pleasant conditions. 

I was particularly pleased with my Hungarian Vizsla entry, where I found good overall breed type. My sincere thanks to all exhibitors for their support and for presenting their dogs so well. 

 

HUNGARIAN VIZSLA 

Puppy (1 entry) 

1st – Vizslanya Sarkany (BP) 

Promising 11-month-old dog of good type and balance. Presents an attractive head with a kind expression. Good length of neck flowing into well-placed shoulders, well-ribbed body and firm topline. Correct angulation throughout. Lovely dense coat. Moved freely with good drive, maintaining his outline. A deserving winner. 

Special Yearling (2 entries) 

1st – Vizslanya Valor JW (RBOB) 

Quality dog of good type and balance. Pleasing head with correct proportions and expression. Strong neck flowing into well-laid shoulders, with good depth and ribbing. Firm topline and correct outline. Moved with reach and drive, covering the ground well. A convincing winner. 

2nd – Glenbrows Opera Darte JW 

Feminine bitch of pleasing type with an attractive head and expression. Good neck and straight forelegs. Soundly constructed throughout. Moved true, but not quite the drive or overall finish of the winner. A worthy second. 

Post Graduate (3 entries) 

1st – Martgarian Zantara JW 

Well-balanced bitch of good type with a pleasing head and expression. Well-ribbed with good depth of chest and a firm topline. Balanced angulation throughout. Maintained her outline both standing and on the move. 

2nd – Vizslanya Vizi JW 

Another good exhibit of correct type, slightly darker in coat. Soundly constructed with good bone and ribbing. Maintained topline on the move. Elbows well tucked, firm topline and correct proportions. Moved adequately. 


3rd – Coconino Forest 

Open (4 entries) 

1st – Sh Ch/Int/Multi Ch Nichael Blue Diamond Among Ohanava VW ShCEx (BOB) 

A quality, elegant bitch of excellent type and balance. Feminine head with correct planes and expression. Good length of neck flowing into well-laid shoulders, well-ribbed body and firm topline. Correct tail set and carriage. Well angulated throughout, presenting a harmonious outline. Moved with reach and drive, maintaining a true profile. A well-deserved Best of Breed. 

2nd – Darvin Gurdau (Imp CZE) 

Another quality dog of good type with a strong, masculine head and kind expression. Well-constructed with good depth and ribbing. Would benefit from settling on examination. Once composed, moved soundly, though not quite the presence or positivity of the winner. A worthy second. 

3rd – Glenbrows Reminiscent

1st – Kahawei Star Catcher (BOB) 

Upstanding liver dog of correct type and proportions. Wedge-shaped head with typical expression. Strong neck flowing into well-constructed shoulders. Well-ribbed body with good depth and straight forelegs. Balanced outline throughout. Coat of correct texture with tight, crisp curls. Moved with drive and purpose, covering the ground well. 

 

FLAT COATED RETRIEVER 

 

Puppy (1 entry)1st – Hopevalley Morning Minuet (BP) 

Promising youngster with a pleasing head and expression. Good forehand construction, well-ribbed body and short, strong loin. Balanced angulation throughout. Presented in good coat and condition. Moved freely with a happy, positive attitude. 

Special Yearling (4 entries, 2 absent) 

1st – Hopevalley Morning Minuet 

Repeat winner, confirming earlier impressions. Maintains balance and type, moving freely and soundly. 

2nd – Clandrift Funky Angel 

Another pleasing bitch of a different type. Good head and neck into well-placed shoulders. Adequate ribbing and angulation. Moved soundly, though not quite the balance or finish of the winner.

1st – Ch Clandrift Bring Me Sunshine JW KCWGC SGWC ShCEx OSW (BOB) 

Mature dog of good type and balance. Well-constructed with good depth of chest, strong bone and firm topline. Correct tail set and carriage. Moved with good reach, covering the 


ground efficiently. 

 

NSDTR (NOVA SCOTIA DUCK TOLLING RETRIEVER) 

 

Puppy (1 entry) 

1st – Tollelkin Villevenard of Whistlefire (BP) 

Typical youngster of good type and balance. Pleasing head and expression with correct proportions. Adequate angulation for age. Moved soundly. 

Special Yearling (1 entry) 

1st – Same winner as above 

Post Graduate (3 entries, 1 absent) 

1st – Tollistry You Can’t Decline 

Well-balanced dog of good type with a pleasing head and expression. Good depth of chest and ribbing with a firm topline. Balanced angulation throughout. Moved soundly with good drive. 

2nd – Tollistry Raudr 

Another good exhibit with a pleasing head and expression. Soundly constructed with adequate angulation. Tail carriage slightly high, which detracts from the overall outline. Moved soundly, though not quite the drive of the winner. 

Open (6 entries, 2 absent) 

1st – Tollelkin Dream Come At Sheldrake JW AW(B) (BOB) 

An outstanding exhibit of excellent type and balance. Correct head with typical expression and well-set ears. Well-constructed throughout with balanced angulation. Excellent coat and condition. Moved with reach and drive, maintaining a true and steady outline. A clear Best of Breed. 

2nd – Sh Ch Tollistry Moet En Chandon JW 

Quality dog with a pleasing head and expression. Well-constructed with good depth and ribbing. Moved freely and soundly, though not quite the presence or finish of the winner. 

3rd – Tollistry Shingcha JW 

 

WELSH SPRINGER SPANIEL 

 

Puppy (1 entry) 

1st – Highslade Edge of Glory (BP, RBOB) 

Promising youngster with a pleasing head and kind expression. Good length of neck and straight forelegs. Well-proportioned body. Would benefit from further development in forechest. Moved soundly. 

Special Yearling (1 entry) 

1st – Same winner as above 

Open (1 entry) 

1st – Jacranella Galahad of Cherryheath (AI) JW (BOB) 

Typical and well-balanced dog with correct head and expression. Good neck into well-laid shoulders, well-ribbed body and firm topline. Moved soundly with good carriage. 

 
 

COCKER SPANIEL 


Puppy (3 entries, 1 absent) 

1st – Zakova Sandman (BP) 

Very promising 10months pupy orange roan with an excellent head and expression. Good neck, firm topline and correct tail carriage. Well presented in good coat and condition. Moved freely with good action. 

2nd – Abbadoo’s Caramel Delight 

11 months chocholat tan feminine bitch with a pleasing head and soft expression. Good bone and construction. Still developing. Moved adequately. 

Special Yearling (4 entries) 

1st – Griffial Black To Black JW (RBOB) 

Quality black 18months bitch of good type with a feminine head and soft expression. Good neck and shoulder placement, well-balanced throughout. Moved with drive and animation. 

2nd – Aylesmead Blu Rose at Colmandakev 

Another pleasing blue roan bitch with a good head and expression. Well-constructed and in good coat. Moved soundly, though not quite the finish of the winner. 

3rd – Babtonkelpie Galley Queen 

Post Graduate (3 entries, 1 absent) 

1st – Babtonkelpie Cop The Lot 

Well-made 16 months blue roan bitch with a lovely feminine head and pleasing expression. Balanced construction with a firm topline. Well presented, nicely coat condition. Moved soundly with good drive. 

2nd – Coolio Good Thoughts 

Chocolat dog of good bone and ribbing with a strong neck and compact frame. Movement lacked drive on the day. 

Open (2 entries) 

1st – Chativore Sea Pebble at Colmandakev (BOB) 

Attractive blue roan well-balanced bitch with a feminine head and soft expression. Correct angulation throughout and a firm topline. Presented in excellent coat and condition. Moved with drive and style. A worthy Best of Breed. 

2nd – Zakova Santana JW 

Quality black coat dog with a pleasing head dark eyes and kind expression. Good bone and substance. Moved soundly and pushed the winner closely—could change places on another day.
