Premier Open Show – Saturday 27th September 2025

I thank the Officers and Committee for the invitation to judge this well-run show and my steward for

the efficient running of the ring. Despite a chilly start, the weather improved, and the venue and

surroundings were most pleasant. I was very pleased with the overall quality of the exhibits,

particularly the Cocker Spaniels, my favourite breed. I was delighted to see my winners perform

well in the Group and thank all exhibitors for their support.

GERMAN SHORTHAIRED POINTER

Puppy (1)

1st: Tuptonsett True Spirit – BOB & BP. 10-month-old liver and white ticked bitch. Well balanced

throughout with a pleasing feminine head and correct eye giving an intelligent expression. Good

length of neck flowing into sloping shoulders, strong topline and correct tuck-up. Well-sprung ribs,

wide loin and well-bent stifle. Strong pasterns and sound construction. Moved smoothly with good

reach and drive, covering the ground well. A quality puppy deserving of BOB and BP.

FLAT COATED RETRIEVER

Puppy (2)

1st: Gemswin It’s Raining Men – BP. 8-month-old dog of excellent temperament with a quality solid

black coat. Long head with correct eye, good depth of chest and correct length and angle of upper

arm. Well-bent stifle and strong, round feet. An enthusiastic mover with good drive and ring

presence.

2nd: Aspleypine Dig Dis. 6-month-old black bitch with a lean head and sweet expression. Good

length of neck and shoulder with pleasing angulation. Moved satisfactorily. A little shy today but

should gain confidence with maturity.

Special Yearling (4, 1 abs)

1st: Secret Blue Dress Basteta for Gemswin (Imp LTU) – BOB. 17-month-old well-balanced bitch

with a beautiful feminine head and melting expression. Correct dentition, deep chest and

well-sprung ribs. Level topline both standing and on the move. Free-moving with a long, easy stride.

Well deserved BOB.

2nd: Maddouse Never Too Much. 16-month-old feminine bitch with a pleasing outline and good

bone. Lovely head and expression. Stood well and moved steadily.

3rd: Maddouse Diamonds R’Forever.

Limit (2, 1 abs)

1st: GEMSWIN RIVER OF DREAMS – RBOB. Bitch, 4 years old. Well balanced with a pleasing

feminine head and kind expression. Good length of neck into well-laid shoulders, level topline and

correct angulation. Sound, free-moving with good reach and drive. Presented in excellent coat and

condition.

NOVA SCOTIA DUCK TOLLING RETRIEVER

Puppy (2, 1 abs)

1st: Tiamaria Bella Rosa – BP. 6-month-old bitch with pleasing head and expression. Correct ear

set, well-bent stifles, strong feet and good double coat. Moved well with correct tail carriage.

2nd: Tiamaria Toasted Marshmallow. 6-month-old dog with an attractive head and eye. Nice coat

but still leggy and needing time to mature. Moved satisfactorily.

Special Yearling (2, 1 abs)

1st: Danehaven Despreux – RBOB. 17-month-old well-balanced bitch with a feminine head and

kind expression. Good length of neck and well laid-back shoulders. Straight, well-boned forelegs

with neat feet. Short back and level topline. Moved soundly with correct tail carriage.

Limit (4, 1 abs)

1st: Tiamaria Juniper Berry – BOB. 2-year-old medium-sized bitch with confident ring presence.

Strong forequarters, good topline and well-developed second thigh. Well-bent stifles and excellent

overall presentation with a quality double coat.

2nd: Gingafing Best of You. 25-month-old feminine bitch with pleasing head and expression. Well

balanced with straight bone. Moved steadily.

3rd: Danehaven Deeks.

Open (4, 1 abs)

1st: Danehaven Macdonalds. 5-year-old dog with good head, strong neck and muscular shoulders.

Well-sprung ribs, firm topline and good angulation. Best mover in the class.

2nd: Gingafing Forget Me Not. Mature bitch with good head and friendly temperament. Deep chest,

straight forelegs with neat feet. Moved well once settled.

3rd: Gingafing Careless Whisper.

COCKER SPANIEL

Puppy (3, 1 abs)

1st: Chazbaz Take a Chance on Me – BP. 10-month-old black bitch with a lovely feminine head and

melting expression. Correct bite, well-set ears and good neck into well-angulated shoulders.

Compact body with deep ribs and excellent coat and presentation. Moved well for her age.

2nd: Hollytree Drop Dead Gorgeous (IKC). 7-month-old dog with pleasing head and sweet

expression. Still immature in front and in puppy coat. Needs confidence but should improve with

maturity.

Special Yearling (7)

1st: Babtonkelpie Galley Queen. 13-month-old blue roan bitch, compact and well balanced. Lovely

feminine head with dark eyes, good coat condition. Sound mover with correct tail carriage. Won on

movement and overall balance.

2nd: Ryallcourt Happy Dance of Peacevale. 22-month-old blue roan bitch with good proportions

and depth of chest. Nicely angulated front and rear. Moved with drive.

3rd: Wilanorah Perfik Scoundrel at Chanmalo.

Limit (5)

1st: Popebel Limited Edition – RBOB. 2 years 7 months blue roan bitch of excellent type and

balance. Correct bite, pleasing head, strong loin and well-coupled body. Moved very well and

presented in excellent coat.

2nd: Chazbaz My Girl Melissa. 3-year-old black and tan bitch with feminine head and good

expression. Nice topline and correct tail set. Moved steadily, just lacking a little drive.

3rd: Babtonkelpie Cop the Lot.

Open (3)

1st: CHATIVORE SEA PEBBLE AT COLMANDAKEV – BOB. Just over 2-year-old blue roan bitch

of excellent type and typical Cocker Spaniel temperament. Feminine head, balanced proportions

and well-angulated rear. Sound, driving movement and excellent presentation. Well-deserved BOB.

2nd: La Scale’s Berlin with Chazbaz (Imp Hun). 4½-year-old black dog, well balanced with good

depth of chest, strong bone and firm feet. Moved well with correct tail carriage.

3rd: Stobytill Bootylicious.

WELSH SPRINGER SPANIEL

Special Yearling (2)

1st: Lenamore Renegade (AI) – BOB. 12-month-old youngster of good size and excellent coat.

Proportioned head with soft expression, correct ear shape and set. Deep chest, well-sprung ribs,

straight forequarters and neat feet. Firm topline and smooth, ground-covering movement.

2nd: Helgen Candy Mountain. 16-month-old bitch with good head and strong neck. Balanced with

good chest and straight forequarters. Well-bent stifles and good coat. Not fully settled today.

Limit (1)

1st: FERNDEL RENZO AT ROVINJDAL – RBOB. 27-month-old dog with balanced head and

strong neck. Straight, well-boned forequarters and good angulation throughout. Correct topline, lovely coat texture and sound movement.
