I was pleased to be invited to Judge at this well-run & friendly event. I had a nice entry with not too many absentees and the overall quality of the exhibits was good. All the dogs were in a clean & well-presented condition. Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge & to my excellent steward.

1st Miss T Pratt’s Largymore Lalande of Rosyth. Golden Retriever (B).
Alone here. She has such a kind expression good head & pigmentation. Happy & at one with her handler. Clean neck into well laid back shoulders, straight forelegs leading to round feet, moved with a smooth & measured stride. Must comment on her fit condition.

1st Wyer, Marshall-Wyer & Shannon’s Valabaude Vero. Griffon Fauve De Bretagne (B).
Well put together, good muscletone, rough coated, looks as if she will mature into a dog that can work all day. Body of good length, straight front, moderate angulation front & rear. Liked her kind dark eye, length of skull & correct length of ear. Her stride pattern was balanced in profile.

4 year old of good breed type, liked the length of skull, length of ear reaching to nose & dark brown eye colour. Short muscular neck with well angulated shoulders, straight front & sloping pasterns. Correct length of body to height ratio, strongly built, muscular, rough coated, in a condition that showed she could do a day’s work. Moved well. I was highly impressed with the breed quality shown today.

4 Year-old. Strong & powerful without being coarse. Well up to size. Head long, lean, flat skull which tapers to muzzle. Intelligent expression, rose shaped ears. Liked her outline which was flowing &
without exaggeration, deep chest with plenty of heart room.

1st Mrs Potts’s Demerlay In Your Eyes At Klondyke. Whippet (B).
Very attractive & elegant who has a shapely outline, feminine head of correct proportions, dark eye, bright expression. Long arched neck, firm well-muscled back & arched loin. Very good angulation, shoulders well laid back with good length of upper arm, straight front & stands over plenty ground. Stifles well bent & hocks well let down with good width of thigh. Movement was true coming & going, showed the typical daisy cutting action in profile.

1st Mrs Potts’s Ranveli Lemon Popsicle At Klondyke. Whippet (B).
In profile gives the impression of standing over plenty of ground. Head, long, lean & flat on top, skull tapering to muzzle & slight stop. Liked her length of neck & arched topline, shoulders well laid back, would prefer a little more return of upper arm. Strong rear end with good width of thigh, exhibits strong bone & straight front with sloping pasterns & well arched pads, moved true out and back.
2nd Miss S. Brewis’s Barfordridge Wilhelmina Of Janak. Rhodesian Ridgeback (B).
Liked her head with dark round eyes & soft expression with defined stop, good length of dark muzzle. Would benefit from a touch more length in neck, good shoulder placement, Excellent depth of chest with correct width, has a level topline held on the move, short strong loin, would prefer a touch more bend of stifle, well-muscled, standing on good feet & moved with a balanced stride.

1st Mrs N. Thomlinson’s Northdrum Double Jeopardy. Jack Russell Terrier (B).
Caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring, alone but full of quality. Loved her type, she is full of character & is so good in outline with neck of correct length to give balance, firm topline, excellent ribbing for age, short in the couplings, tail set on high & excellent carriage. Just loved her head, feminine with the keenest of expressions; dark almond-shaped eyes, ears of correct set, strong muzzle & correct dentition. Very well constructed, standing foot perfect at all times on the best of feet and moving freely & with such attitude.

1st Mrs J. & Miss V. Hedges’s Civert Border Reiver. Bull Terrier (D).
A solid built, well shaped boy. Big, well packed head with a good profile with plenty of depth to the end of his muzzle. Ears were used well, good mouth, plenty of bone, straight front & stands on good arched toes. Well shaped hindquarters & movement was good, covered the ground well & shown in good condition.
2nd Mrs K. & Mr D. Dunn’s Marco Boy. Border Terrier (D).
Good head & width of skull, well set ears. Keen expression with a strong muzzle. Good reach of neck leads to masculine well laid shoulders & length of upper arm placing his forelegs under his body. Narrow all through, stands on well boned straight limbs with small, neat feet & thick pads. Good coat texture. Easily spanned with a thick loose pelt. His ribs reach well back to a short strong loin. Level topline held on the move.

1st Miss J. Strother’s Beaconpike Adonis. Border Terrier (D).
Good balanced dog with enough bone. He has an exquisite expression with correct scissor bite, well filled short muzzle, finished with moderate V shaped ears. Head is carried on a muscular neck, level topline, ribs well sprung, strong loin, well angulated rear with plenty of width of thigh & stifles well bent. Moved steadily.
2nd Miss S. D. Greshon’s Lucky Touch Toffee Apple. Border Terrier (B).
Feminine balanced with lots to like, broad in skull, strong muzzle & dark eye. Correct lay of shoulder, ribs carried well back, good rear angulation, & a moderate length of tail set high. Not as harsh a jacket as 1, in great condition with a thick pliable pelt. Moved freely.

So true to breed type, a dog of good size & presents a good shape, very attractive in head with well shaped eyes giving the correct expression, correct mouth, enough neck into well placed shoulders, true front of good width, spans well, lovely rib & coupling, well set tail, harsh coat of good texture with dense undercoat, best movement of all the terriers here, so sound & true.

Lovely type & size, presents a clean outline, first class head with good expression, lovely shoulder & topline, very short tight fitting coat of good texture did not have the carriage of the winner on the move.

A dog of good size with a balanced head, lovely eye and expression, has a good outline standing, enough neck into well placed shoulders, enough rib which spans ok, well set tail, true front, lovely coat texture.
2nd Miss J. Strother’s Beaconpike Adonis. Border Terrier (D).
Balanced dog with a masculine head of good proportions & keen expression, moderate length of neck which flows into well placed shoulders, straight front leading to small feet, deep chested, ribs well spanned, moderate rear end, in excellent harsh coat, moved well when settled.

1st Mrs G. Malone’s DI’Leila’s Sheltie Amore Mio (IMP POL). Shetland Sheepdog (D).
Liked this puppy. He has a very nicely proportioned head with desired stop, correct ears, almond shaped eye blue flecked giving a typical expression. Very well put together, arched neck with pleasing topline, ribs well sprung & correct length of body. Moved soundly with drive from hindquarters, true coming & going.

2nd Mr & Mrs Hadden’s Kannamaren I Have The Touch. Border Collie (D).
Close decision between these two. In profile shows the graceful & balanced outline of the breed, of good substance. Head of correct proportions, scissor bite. Eyes wide, oval, liked his expression, alert & intelligent. Good reach of neck, strong top line, tidy feet. Shown in top condition smooth sleek topcoat & dense waterproof undercoat. Moved well working in unison with handler.

Masculine male, moderate long coat gives a balanced outline in profile. Moved well in the smooth fashion typical of the breed. Well placed shoulder but would prefer a little more layback of upper arm, good length of body, sloping croup & width of thigh together with well turned stifle, looks as if he could do a days work.

1st Mr G. & Mrs H. Fremlin’s Jazzmonta Thunder At Icewind. Samoyed (D).
Dog of good type, in profile shows the typical breed outline. Wedge shaped skull broad & flat between ears, liked his soft expression. Shoulders well laid back, legs straight, good bone, well angulated stifles, legs parallel with long slightly spread well feathered feet. He was shown in good coat & condition, moved out well tending towards the correct single track.
