Whippets

A lovely show to judge at, with a very friendly committee. The ring was of a reasonable size but unfortunately we could only usefully use the triangle of mats and I felt that not all of the exhibits gave their best.

Puppy Dog Or Bitch (4)

A nice class of puppies to start with, at different stages of development as to be expected.

1st - Dillon’s Citycroft Not My First Rodeo at Runforest. A quality 6 month old male puppy with lots of promise. A real showman, who has a good length of neck, with good ribbing and correct loin. Good depth of thigh and well let down hocks with correct tail. When standing he displayed a good outline with a pleasing underline at this stage of development, standing over plenty of ground and holding himself very well for his age. Handled to his advantage, he moved out very positively for a baby with an easy action in profile. I was pleased to hear he later won Reserve Best Puppy In Show, well done.

2nd - Roth-Brown’s Edenwhip Daydream Believer. 9 month old fawn bitch of a very nice type. Lots to like about her, with a lot of style. I found her nicely balanced and unexaggerated throughout, I feel she just needs time to develop and fill out. I particularly liked her curvy shape with lovely underline and correct graceful arch over the loin. She was ultimately Best Opposite Sex against quality competition.

3rd - Cooper’s Ballauren’s You Got It

Junior Dog Or Bitch (5, 1 abs)

1st - Mallinson’s Edenwhip Oregano JW. A young brindle dog of good breed type who is developing well in body and was presented in good condition. I found his head and expression to be typical. Good neck and front with correct bone and good depth of chest for his age. He presented a correct outline and underline when settled and he stands well over the ground. Displayed the best movement in this venue today with an easy stride, holding his topline and was consistently sound out and back, which ultimately won him Best of Breed.

2nd - Dillon’s Citycroft Not My First Rodeo at Runforest. 1st Puppy.

3rd - Winkley-Balmer’s Edenwhip Moonstruck

Post Graduate Dog Or Bitch (6, 3 abs)

1st - Winkley-Balmer’s Bohosoul Firestarter By Edenwhip. A promising young fawn male who is in the correct condition for his age. Attractive head with alert expression from well placed eyes of the correct shape. Presents a very appealing balanced outline with a good underline. Good bone and feet Good depth of chest and spring of rib, correctly ribbed with strong loin. Moved with the correct action in profile and coming towards although didn’t move as consistently away on the matting as I would have liked today.

2nd - Winkley-Balmer’s Edenwhip See Her Sparkle. Another lovely typical Whippet with a lot to admire. I liked her style, balance, correct ribbing and length of tail with balanced angulation. She lost out to her kennel mate who I felt was in better condition and also moved better overall today.

3rd - Hunt’s Hologem Serenade In Blue

Limit Dog Or Bitch (7, 5 abs)

1st - Russell’s Longmire The Lark Ascending To Arjuna. Nicely balanced brindle male of good breed type. Typical head and eye. A taller but unexaggerated boy with a pleasing outline and good underline creating the correct profile. Moved ok.

2nd - Mallinson’s Edenwhip Vera. Feminine brindle bitch with appealing head and a good neck. Moderately angulated, she unfortunately had the tendency to roach her back today and was not moving to her best advantage in the venue.

Open Dog Or Bitch (7, 4 abs)

1st - Winkley-Balmer’s Edenwhip Call Me At Night. A quality 2 year male of good breed type, presented in lovely condition. Flat skull with well placed eye. Balanced angulation throughout with a particularly good depth of thigh. Well boned with good feet. Correct shape in profile with pleasing outline and underline, with the correct graceful arch over the loin. I found him to be masculine without being overdone. He was not as settled in this venue today and therefore not giving his best so had to give way to a very nice younger dog for BOB.

2nd - Russell’s Longmire Atlantic Starman At Arjuna. Brindle boy on a finer frame. He had a good head and expression. Well ribbed with correct loin and good depth of thigh. Correct topline with matching good underline. Moved out well, keeping his shape.

3rd - Mackay’s Feorena Another Venture
