Judge – Joanne Grimes-Watson (Spudler)

Thank you to Wellingborough & DCS for inviting me to judge Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers. Thank you also to my Stewards, Phil and Jo, for the smooth running of the ring. I am grateful to all the exhibitors who supported me in this, my first, SCWT judging appointment.

Puppy (5,1)

1. Fallon’s Crofftysofty Bee Yonce

8 month old bitch. Well balanced with everything in correct proportion. Excellent scissor bite. Neat, feminine head with dark hazel eye and small, well set ears. Moderately arched neck. Tail set and carriage bang on. She moved purposefully with good reach in front. Topline held well on the move. BP and pleased to see her placed TPG3.

2. Witheyman’s Fantasa Blonde Xtasey

8 month old bitch. Mature and fully up to size. Good ear set, flat skull and strong muzzle. Well sprung ribs. Tail set & carriage good. Would prefer a more moderate neck. Promising coat and colour for age. Moved and handled well. Preferred front angulation and proportions of 1st placed bitch.

3. Stevens’ Crofftysofty Bee Brave

Junior (1,1)

Post Graduate (1,1)

Open (7,3)

1. Hughlock’s Keevasdream Ballerina Blue JW

The side profile movement of this bitch stuck in my mind. A lovely feminine, compact bitch who was perfectly balanced from nose to tail. Correct reach and drive and flowed round the ring with such presence, achieved by her great front and rear angulation. Level topline stacked and on move. Coat was good clear wheaten colour falling in large loose curls. BOB.

2. Shrive’s Clanhanna Reet Petite (AI)

Pleasing feminine head with lovely neck of moderate length. Well placed shoulders and level topline. Correct soft, wheaten coloured coat falling in loose curls. Correctly presented and worked well for her handler. Good reach in front but would have preferred a slightly tighter front action when coming towards. RBOB

3. Hughlock’s CH Janeyjimjams Jolene at Keevasdream VW
