Bearded Collies

I would like to thank South West Essex Canine Association for inviting me to judge 4 Bearded collie classes. Thank you to everyone who entered under me. I want to comment on how lovely everyone presented their dogs, and it was a pleasure to judge them. And finally, thank you to my efficient steward.

Puppy (1,0)

1st Mrs A M Buswell, Chelsasa Private Eye On Scotesham

11mth old brown boy. Nice square head. Eye colour toning with coat and had a cheeky expression. Good length of rib. Good front angulation and depth of chest. Topline was straight on the stand and move. Moved well but I would prefer a bit more reach. He was handled well.

Special Yearling (5,0)

1st Mrs S Collins, Full Of The Dickens Winner Takes It All For Kingswud

A very impressive 16mth old slate boy. Well proportioned and schooled for age. Broad skull with moderate stop. Good scissor bite. A well presented coat of good texture with harsher coat coming through. He had a correct height to length ratio. He flowed round the ring effortlessly. I was delighted to see him go Group 1 and RBIS.

2nd Mr C L Reynolds, Beabeardies Blue Velvet

14mth old blue boy. This dog surprised me when I put my hands on him. He had excellent depth and length of rib an deep chest. Good angulation front and back. His handler handled with a calm caring manner. The topline was good on the move. Although tail was carried higher than I would like. I’m sure with more experience these two are going to have a good time.

Post Graduate (2,1)

1st Mr A & Mrs H Fiedler, Malandex Most Xpressive For Malarkey

I really liked this slate girl but she was unfortunately very unsettled by noises around the ring. Nice height to length and well proportioned throughout which when on the move showed. Really good reach and drive holding a perfect topline.

2nd V J Rudd, Lubin’s London Calling

A striking dark slate with good pigment. Nice square head good length of muzzle. Dark eye. Nicely proportioned. Moved well but I preferred the reach of 1.

Open (4,2)

1st Mrs L Bevis, Beabeardies Cinnamon Girl

A very pretty 6yr old brown girl. 4-5 ration. Lovely topline on stand and move. Nice shaped and well proportioned head. She had a very sweet expression but it was her movement that won it for me. She flowed round the ring.

2nd Mrs G &Mr M O’Connell, Potterdale Royal Sapphire Of Atherleigh

Nice square head. Beautiful expression with dark eyes. Beautifully presented dark slate coat. Slightly squarer in shape. Good front and back angulation and well muscled. She was dropping her head on the move which was affecting the flow of movement and reach.
