Thanks so much to the committee for the invitation to judge these two lovely breeds, to those who entered, and my steadfast steward Adrianne who bravely battled the very windy conditions in an effort to keep the paperwork all in check! Fabulous hospitality at this friendly and very well run show.

German Longhaired Pointer Open Dog – 1st Thomson’s Sarscottah Fearless Flame Ir JCh – Substantial male who presented a picture of power and balance when stacked up. Clean head with correct proportions with good furnishings, dark eye, strong moderate length of neck into well laid shoulders, good return of upper arm, ample bone and good feet. Good pro sternum, deep ribs extending well back and short strong loin. Correct topline and set on of well feathered tail. Rear angulation balanced with fore. Excitable on the move and a little careless with foot placement but he’s only 18 mths. RBOB

German Longhaired Pointer Open Bitch – 1st Thomson’s Ir Sh Ch Sarscottah Delux An Ch 24 – beautifully balanced 9 yr old bitch who is in excellent form. Correct head with dark pigment, good dark eye, correct skull to muzzle ratios, sufficient breadth and slightly rounded skull, well set and carried ears of good length. Slight arch to neck, clean throat and good forechest. Sloping shoulders, correct return of upper arm, well boned and feathered forelegs, neat feet. Broad deep ribs and short muscular loin, strong through topline, well bent stifles and good width to first and second thigh. Moved out with style and precision, powered by her excellent rear and drove round the ring which secured her BOB

German Wirehaired Pointer Post Graduate – 1st Cox’s Ijildez Vom Holstef (Imp SVK) – 21 mth bitch who presented a lovely balanced picture, being slightly longer than tall as the standard requires. Excellent harsh coat. Correct slightly rounded skull, with balance to width and length. High set ears. Clean neck through sloping shoulders and correct return of upper arm, Straight legs, good bone, very slight slope to pasterns and good feet. Deep chested, well sprung ribs extending back to short strong loin and correct underline. Excellent width of thighs, balanced angulation fore and aft and moved on a steady accurate ground covering stride to secure BOB

2nd Clement’s Lower Dee Willow – Appealing 7 yr lady who was just a little longer cast than 1st so not quite the same outline. Good harsh coat, correct head and skull, neck flowed cleanly into shoulders, well boned straight legs and good feet, good forechest. Correct underline and topline, well set on tail. Excellent rear angulation and moved steady and true with good drive.

3rd Simpson’s Ida Vom Holstef (Imp SVK) 

German Wirehaired Pointer Open Dog – 1st Lovatt & Gettings Ir Sh Ch Beechillawn Break the Mould (IKC) - 22 mth young male who certainly had the wind up him today and was well up on his toes, giving his handler a bit of a hard time. Correct coat and undercoat, up to size, well muscled and well ribbed, classic headpiece, clean through neck, shoulders and backline, balanced angulation, was erratic on the move today, but certainly no denying he is a powerful lad who can move.

German Wirehaired Pointer Open Bitch – 1st Lovatt & Gettings Ir Sh Ch Beechillawn Mint Chip Ir JCh CJW22 Cent JW Cent W (taf) 4 yr old lady who presents a lovely outline. Excellent coat, lovely balance to her head. Strength to her clean neck, good forechest, correct layback of shoulder and corresponding upper arm return. Deep chested, ribbed back, well set on tail, good width to thighs and well bent stifles. Moved out positively and lovely profile action, unfortunately was toeing in a little today so had to settle for RBOB
