Banff Moray & Nairn Canine Club

Breed: Retriever (Golden)

Many thanks to the lovely welcoming committee for the invitation to judge Golden Retrievers at this friendly, well run show. Super venue and lovely food too.

Thank you to the exhibitors who brought their beautiful dogs, to my very able steward who kept things under order and moving along, and thankfully we were blessed with a dry sunny, albeit fairly blustery day for outdoor judging in the North of Scotland.

Golden Retriever Post Graduate

1st Gray’s Knockonthie in a Tizzy – Beautiful mid gold girl of 2 yrs, in lovely coat and condition and presented a lovely balanced profile. She didn’t disappoint going over either having a classic head and great pigment and dark eye. Clean muscular neck, flows into well laid back shoulders, great bone and neat feet. Deep ribs carried well back and short loin, carried her topline well and drove from powerful thighs and low hocks.

2nd Saunderson’s Drumkilty Rebel Song for Crobeag – Another beautifully presented lady of 19 mths. Broad balanced skull and foreface, lovely chiselling, dark pigment, defined stop. Strength to neck, clean through throat, good forechest and lovely bone and good feet. Shoulders well laid back, correct return of upper arm allowing forward reach. Level topline, short couplings and well turned stifles, moved out well although a shade closer behind than 1st when going away.

3rd Mackenzie’s Faithful Heart Stevie Nicks at Varadero

Golden Retriever Limit

1st Gray’s Knockonthie Hallirackit – Mid gold bitch of 6 yrs. Lovely stacked profile, appealed in head, with neat ears, dark eyes and good pigment. Good through neck, shoulders, correct forechest and well boned legs with neat feet. Good balanced angulation front and rear, level topline, excellent width to first and second thighs, low hocks and powerful accurate movement. Was just toeing in on front right when coming towards.

Golden Retriever Open

What a fabulous class of stunning Golden Oldies of 9 & 10 years. Owners should be rightfully proud of every one of them.

1st Macleod’s Garline Echo’s of a Dream – This gorgeous young lady of 9 yrs was not to be denied today. Beautifully balanced outline, in fabulous coat and condition, there was no way she was showing anywhere near her age today. Lovely head, dark eye, well set ears, strength and balance in skull and muzzle. Clean through neck into well laid back shoulders, correct return and angulation to allow forward reach. Flowed through topline to a well carried tail, depth and spring to ribs, short coupled, power to her rear, well muscled thighs, and low hocks allowed her to drive forward with the most accurate of footfall with a wagging tail, all of which secured her BOB

2nd Younie’s Glenrioch Storm Trooper – Handsome lad who was having a grand day out. Not quite the balance in head of the winner, and a little heavier over the shoulders, nevertheless beautifully presented, in excellent coat, correct pigment, flowing lines from neck into shoulders and topline, moved out positively due to his balanced front and rear angulation, good muscletone, and well developed first and second thighs.

3rd Gray’s Exelby Grouse
