Many thanks to the Officers & Committee for the invitation to judge at their very well run and friendly show. It was a really enjoyable appointment with some very nice Hounds present for me to judge. Thank you to my two stewards who kept the ring running in good order and of course my thanks to the exhibitors for bringing their lovely dogs.
Afghan Hound
Graduate (2,1abs)
1. Godber-Ford’s Affyneeta Desert Wind. 4.5 year old dog. Nicely balanced head, leading to a long enough head. Would prefer a bit more front angulation. Good overall outline and well angulated rear.
Open (3,1abs)
1. Godber-Ford’s Affynetta Mountain Breeze. BoB. Litter brother to previous class winner. Felt this boy had the slightly better front construction. Again a nicely proportioned head with strong jaw. In good condition, moved out well and the steadiest of the 3 exhibits of this breed.
2. Gunn’s Katanga’s God Of Thunder JW. 2.5 year old dog. Black & cream dog, slightly finer all through than 1. Silky coat, moderate throughout without exaggeration. Would prefer stronger topline. Moved out with drive.
Basset Hound
Open (2,1abs)
1. Thorn’s Zukecoda Lord Vetinari. BoB. 16 month old dog with a well angulated front and well laid-back shoulders. Good strong, level topline and decent ground clearance. Needs to strengthen up a bit behind still.

2. Barrow’s Rosanka Skye at Meganjin. Compact bitch, 17 months old. Well knuckled, tight feet. Strong topline, unfortunately a little unsettled on the move today.
Borzoi
Open (5)
1. Logvineko’s Lynx Faster Than Light of Noldoli JW (imp SWE). BOB, HG2. This impressive 16-month-old dog caught my eye straight away and didn’t disappoint on closer inspection. An impressive, most regal looking hound presented and handled to his advantage. Super coat and condition. Clean shoulders and good overall front construction. Graceful curving topline. He was sound and moved with real purpose. Liked him a lot.
2. Pinkerton, Novotny & Cattoni-Sarman’s Menigma Rey’s Infatuation. BPIB. PG4. 8 month old dog who was the most settled and best moving on the day of the 3 pups in this class. Good length to head and already showing excellent depth to chest for age. Liked overall shape and balance. Topline developing nicely.
3. Thomas, Datta & Pinkerton’s Menigma Stay With Me at Rockyhill.
MLH Dachshund
Open (3,3abs)
MSH Dachshund

1. Small’s Stargang Morrissey for Devondax. BoB. BPIB. HG4. PG3. 7 month old black/tan dog presented in excellent order and displaying a bold & confident temperament. Lovely head and good earset. Really liked his front angulation. Good strength to rear which he used to his advantage whilst on the move. A promising puppy.
Sp Yearling (2)
1. Beer, Williams & Moes’ Glynlythe’s Heirloom for Devondax. Nicely balanced, almost 12 month old red bitch. Good depth but with sufficient ground clearance. Most attractive of heads. Another with decent strength to rear moving well.

3. Parker’s Luckytails Skye at Zorionadax.
Graduate (6,1a)
1. Wand’s Wanderhund For My Next Trick. Another litter brother to 1 & 2 in puppy class and again, a nice puppy. He too had a good length of neck into a clean shoulder that was well laid back. He really moved out well, again with decent ground clearance.

1. Turton’s Doucai’s I Agwa Habib at Damoradaxies. BoB. 19 month old. Appealed in head, which is long and lean with alert & expressive eyes. Overall graceful outline, just needing a bit more time to mature in body. Outgoing temperament, enjoying her time in the ring.
AV Import Register Hound
Open (1)
1. Gunn’s Stonemartin Ailbe with Katanga ShCEx. Azawakh. Best AV IBR. Beautiful head & expression with well set, fine ears. Long neck that was well set. Pleasing curvy underline. Presented in fit condition with a lovely fine coat. Unfortunately she didn’t appreciate the cold temperature at the start of the day, which just caused her to crouch behind somewhat.
AVNSC Hound
Graduate (8,3abs)
1. Granum & Cadmore’s Soletrader Prue Leith. PBGV. Well balanced 15 month old B of correct proportions. Nice head. Well angulated both front and rear; shoulders well laid. Nice free movement.

Excellent overall balance and proportions, well-muscled back. Super front assembly with well laid shoulders and correct return of upper arm. Powerful hindquarters with good bend of stifle and hocks well let down – really used to her advantage on the move to power around the ring. Sound as they come on the up and back.
AV Hound
Puppy (15)
1. Howgate & Hull’s Palmik Never Too Late. Whippet. 7.5 months old fawn / white trim dog of pleasing breed type. Very attractive head with correct rose ears. Correct spring to pastern and front well filled for age. Good curvy underline. Moved out, covering the ground well, more accurate coming towards than 2.
2. Gallie’s Silkridge Gold Fever via Erbys. Whippet B, 9.5 months old. Close decision. Quality coat and skin, smooth under the hand and again of good breed type. I preferred the cleaner shoulders of this bitch but she was rather unsettled on the day.
3. Curteis-Lateo’s Swansford Priyankadora. LH Dachs.
Veteran (8)
1. Gallie’s Gwendariff Thanks A Latte. Whippet. 9.5 year fawn bitch I had previously judged in her prime. She is of super quality and classic breed type. Nothing overdone. Curvy outline with very clean shoulders that are well laid back. She is extremely sound on the move. I still liked her a lot, short listing her in a strong hound group but she had to make way for some fitter dogs, who were asking for top awards.
2. Bidey’s Raimex Rio VW. Beagle. Lovely girl of 9 years, presented in good order. Good head proportions and generally balanced throughout with strong topline. Nice free movement.
3. Whitleara Truly Scrumpy. Whippet.
