Merseyside Gundog Club

I would like to thank the Merseyside Gundog Club for the invitation to judge. This was my first judging appointment, and I was impressed with the overall condition and presentation of the dogs exhibited under me today. I would also like to thank my stewards who kept the ring running smoothly.

Puppy Dog (4 entries, 1 absentee)

1st – DYLSONLEIGH TITAN FOR PATTILANDS

8 month old yellow male with a pleasing masculine head and kind expression. He has well sprung ribs and stands on good bone with correct front and rear angulation and well let down hocks, presenting a balanced outline. Moved very well, covering the ground with an easy stride. A very promising youngster. BPD.

2nd – EASTDEW REWRITE THE STARS WITH EMINALA

6 month old yellow male with excellent pigment and good bone. Strong hindquarters with neat, well shaped feet. Optimal length of neck flowing into a level topline, which he held on the move. Preferred the movement of the first place fore and aft, but another very promising youngster.

3rd – FLYENPYGS IN BLANKETS OVER LABROTKNIGHT

Junior Dog (4 entry, 1 absentee)

1st – EXELBY BOTIS AT MEADOWLINE

13 month old compact yellow male with plenty of bone, standing on neat feet. Excellent depth and width of chest with correctly placed shoulders. Well constructed throughout, with balanced angulation and strong couplings. In excellent coat with a well wrapped tail. Moved with drive and purpose, powered by strong hindquarters.

2nd – EDENWOOD HINCH

17 month old chocolate male, attractive head with correct muzzle of equal length to skull, complemented by a kind expression and warm brown eye. Displays good ribbing and well angulated forequarters. Preferred the croup and tail carriage of first place. Moved ok.

3rd – FOURJAYS COMETS CARNIVAL

Graduate Dog (6 entries, 2 absentees)

1st – EXELBY NORMAN

2 year old black male, full of coat with a correct otter tail. Head on parallel planes with defined stop and kind eye, displaying a typical Labrador expression. Well boned forelegs, straight from the elbows, with correctly angulated forequarters complemented by a well turned stifle. Moved well with good reach and drive.

2nd – LAPEMA SEA BISCUIT FOR BRANDELLE

20 month old black male of different type to first place, excellent head and expression with correct eye shape and colour. Great length of neck and well angulated throughout, though I found him slightly narrow in the front. Moved ok.

3rd – SEATALLAN DAMSON

Post Graduate Dog (3 entries, 0 absentees)

1st – MEADOWLINE HEARTBREAKER JW

3 year old black male with excellent head, oozing with breed type. Clean neck flowing into well placed shoulders. Well muscled throughout with great spring of rib, correct depth of chest and angulation, with powerful, well angulated hindquarters to complete the picture. Moved with drive and purpose. BD.

2nd – LANDEBEC VENTURA JW

20 month old pale yellow male in solid condition, with a broad skull and kind expression, excellent pigment and eye colour. Correct length of foreleg and neat feet. Chest of good depth with well sprung ribs and short coupling. I felt first place was slightly more balanced on the move.

3rd – OAKENHOLT ALTAN

Limit Dog (2 entries, 1 absentee)

1st – SHANORRELL SEAMUS COLEMAN AT HALSHIMOOR JW

Exuberant 2 year old masculine black dog with a pleasing eye shape and colour. Well muscled with a strong, clean neck flowing into well placed shoulders, with pleasing, balanced angulation throughout. Correct tail, which was carried well on the move.

Open Dog (3 entries, 1 absentee)

1st – FLYENPYG JURGEN CHOPP JW

2 year old black male with an excellent head, correct eye shape and colour, displaying a kind disposition. Powerful neck, with well sprung ribs, and balanced angulation fore and aft. Muscular and strong throughout, with good length of forearm. Moved well, covering the ground with ease. RBD.

2nd – MEADOWLINE MI CHICO

10 year old male of a different type to first. This veteran is in excellent condition for his age and enjoyed his time in the ring. Displays great angulation in both forequarters and hindquarters, standing on solid bone with correct depth of chest. Correct otter tail, complementing his double coat. Head on good planes and very attentive to his handler. I just preferred the movement of first place.
