18th April 2025.

Golden Retriever.

Puppy (7,3)

1. Grindley’s Bramstead Lovely Jubbly 11-month-old super type, beautifully presented and empathetically handled, oozed symmetry and balance, nothing overdone correct bone, lovely strong topline and moved very well, particularly pleased to note the length of leg. A pleasure to judge. BP and later PG4.

2. Smith’s Goldmarker Luminora Younger than 1, good bone a little longer than some but not incorrect nice feet and colour, kind eye and expression well off for depth and forechest, time will serve this one well, but showed well and will no doubt become a prospect in the fullness of time.

Junior (5)

1. Moore Tenfield Klipspringer With Auryngra Mature 15 month not the most amount of angulation but balanced and symmetrical lovely feet, superb coat, one of the nicest head and expressions in the class and moved well. Scores in rib which went back with a shorter loin than others.

Postgraduate (7,2)

1. Lane Ridyard’s Hardyllic Jack of Diamonds with Kulawand Caught my eye immediately lovely type scores over the neck and shoulders with a dept and width of rib, plenty long enough but wide strong lion and lovely topline, the best mover in the class by some margin but would like more impulsion. Thought this would be my BOB but was pipped by the mature open winner.

2. Robertshaw’s Akenscales Beau Baron JW A smart upstanding male, no doubting his sex well presented with a good dense coat, well off for rear angulation and appealing head and expression moved well enough, but not quite the silhouette of 1.

Open (10,2)

1. Morris-Garget Goldmarker Coming Home To Garvin (AI) JW Mature male on the heavier side perhaps but I liked his balance and proportions, I appreciate his type, pasterns could be stronger but scores in coat, well let down hocks, solid topline and lovely to handle all through, everything was where it should be, put on a great show, a pleasure to award BOB.

2. Moore Purbarn Friends Together with Auryngra Similar type to 1, just preferred the balance of one to the fore, lovely topline good size all over scores in leg lovely feet and pleasing head much to like, beautifully presented and handled, unlucky to meet 1 in such good form.

Labrador.

Puppy (4,1)

1. Charlton’s Foxrush Hope So Raw six-month-old showed like a veteran won on head which I thought was right for age. Good tight feet, correct bone, well off for ribs which were well back, thought he was balanced and in no way overdone, a real pleasure to judged, when it came together, I thought his movement was typical and sound. BP & RBOB.

2. Richard’s Rocheby Alfie 11 months more mature and stronger all through, good coat super shape eye of, showed well, excellent condition that many would envy, good dentition, much to like.

Junior (1,1)

Postgraduate (5,1)

1. Foster Rochevale Beal Outgoing male balance in good condition, scores in forechest and rib, lovely coat and colour, best head of the class, moved with positivity and easy, liked his topline, put on a good show, not the flashiest or striking but much to like all the same.

2. Morrow Serengoch’s Nine To Five Heavier than one, good coat and really scores in depth with hocks well let down, would prefer a different tail set and carriage, moved well in the large ring, showed well.

Open (4,1)

1. Davis Rochevale Palm Reader JW Young bitch good leg and bone, lovely disposition, balanced for and rear the kindest eye and expression well off for rib and really uses her tail, headed this class with ease, showed very well and had a remarkable rapport with the handler.

2. Perkins Mcfarwin’s Grey Legacy by Keeninspires JW Male thicker set over neck and shoulders good rib well bent stifles super coat tends to stand a little out at the front which distracted from an otherwise good performance.

Flatcoated Retrievers.

Puppy (1)

1. Hazelton Telurn Ghost of You Hazeyvasey Upstanding 9-month-old chap, showed very well, super depth, lovely coat emerging, moderate angles, had an air of distinction but cheeky disposition, good topline, moved with ease and confidence.

Junior (3)

1. As puppy.

2. Grierson Lamesbella Elliot Another puppy just not as settled as one, head long and lean, lovely coat and upstanding, moderate but not in correct, a little more schooling will serve him well.

Postgraduate (5)

1. Lewin Vynesbrook Ultimate Choice Beautiful unexaggerated bitch lovely fore and rear, super coat with the most wonderful sheen excellent topline great coat emerging, lovely tight feet, an a very appealing head and expression BOB.

2. Burroughs I know Him So Well at Rokaness JW Loved this one on the move, much to like just not quite the sparkle of 1 today, less shoulder angulation but not incorrect, good tail carriage when stood and at ease, lovely attitude and nice to go over.

Open (3)

1. Salt Leveimoor Acorn Antiques via Wetnoses Mature bitch balanced throughout not the highest on leg but not incorrect, lovely neck into well made shoulders, lovely bone and good coat, moved with ease and gusto, which others had lacked.

2. Tinker’s Bramatha Lockdown Blues Upstanding chap eye catching just not always using himself to the best of advantage today, lovely coat, scores in fore and rear, well set tail and used it well, lovely tight feet, superb hard condition that many would envy.

English Sringer Spaniels.

Junior (4)

Two outstanding puppies headed this super class – the class of the day by some margin.

1. Casey & Jayes Sandylands Say When ATC A moderate example with no exaggeration lovely bone, pleasing head and moved ok, lovely body, I appreciated the moderate angulation on this one, lovely coat and super feet BOB, BP & PG2.

2. Tolladay’s Chanangel Yorkshire Ale with Bethersden A classy chap, tendency to drop into his rear quarters which made him look over angulated and cost him today, however he has so much to like, a lovely head and expression super topline and very clean and coming and going, once he cooperates he will be a prospect to challenge the best RBOB.

Postgraduate (2)

1. Terry-Richardson Daenerys Moondancer to Cherishym lovely unassuming example, silky coat albeit not at its flattest, liked her for bone and substance, good feet and proportions and sound going around.

2. Rose’s Plaigen Raggtrade An older exhibit with a different coat texture to the winner, not bad in outline, much to like in her head and a lovely ear set, on the move she was a little too close behind.

Open (2,1)

1. Terry Richardson’s Cherishym Dofida Outgoing bubbly chap clearly enjoying his day out, no mistaking his breed or sex well off for coat and lovely topline and good feet, dark eye, and well-set ear, showed well and moved soundly, gave way to the puppy in the challenge due to the change of handler which proved to be unsettling.

Sussex Spaniel.

Junior (3,1)

2. Allen-Line Bjorksatras Corfitz at Deckham (Imp Sweden) Raw sixth month old puppy, lovely head and oh so sound on the move, super coat and body and put on a good show, will be interested to watch this one mature, I am sure that a fun summer awaits.

3. Bull & Short Bakerscroft Golden Briani Longer on leg than one, lovely head and nice amount of bone, pleasing head just at an awkward age but will some together in time, scores in forechest and angulation to the fore, not as settled on the move, which cost higher honours.

Postgraduate (1)

1. Allen-Line Deckham Amber SunriseLovely bitch giving her handler a hard time today and rather enjoying herself too, liked her to the fore, a touch moderate behind, but has type and with a classic outline, pleasing head, moved well.

Open (1)

1. Bull & Short’s Bakerscroft Beckley Belle A lovely lady with a relaxed happy disposition, lovely head and good strong dentition, well off for rib with plenty of substance but on the move, I was satisfied that she could easily do the job she was bred for, she lapped up the large ring with ease. BOB.

On completion of my breed judging, I was fortunate enough to be the appointed judge for BIS. My thanks to the hardworking committee for this lovely appointment and for all their efforts throughout the day, it was clear that this close-knit effective committee produce a relaxed, happy event that so may enjoyed.

Best In Show.

Amongst a lovely line up the Whippet Crosscop California Barbie From Supeta JW owned by Spademan and Mycroft was the highlight, showed and handled to best advantage, she was elegant yet I was utterly convinced or her workability, shown in super order she was an absolute pleasure to assess on the table and didn’t put a foot wrong on the move, once with a bright future I am sure.

In reserve spot was the Papillon Multi Ch Visible Secret Daydream Believers (Imp Bel) NAF TAF a balanced showy prospect who had the edge over others in seemingly being endlessly full of vigour and mischief, lovely to handle with a super coat and so very sound on the move pushed 1 all the way.

Best Puppy in Show.

Undeniably my winner was the Rough Collie Corydon Cristal Vision owned by Blake, so very sound, with the most appealing headpiece and a super coat emerging her foot perfect performance allowed her to command and top this lovely line up of 7 promising puppies. I will watch her career with interest.

Into reserve I was delighted to place the miniature smooth haired dachshund Bronia Solange at Louromi, at I believe her first show, she put on a super performance, shown in wonderful condition, she pushed one all the way, a real pleasure to judge, another one to watch over the summer months.

Best Veteran in Show.

I was permitted to make one award to this line up of seven wonderful exhibits ranging from 7 year to 12.5 years and all a total credit to their owners and breeds longevity. It was the Pomeranian Special Edition of Perismoone (imp) JW VW that topped the line up, he was put perfect with no signs of his age, he could run with the youngsters if it wasn’t for his majestic coat and maturity to his body, I hope his many more years of showing ahead of him.
