Cheshire Agricultural Society

Royal Cheshire County Show

Tuesday 17th June 2025.

Congratulations to the officers and committee of the canine section of this show. It’s a super event, with a wonderful atmosphere. I was thrilled with my entry, and it was a delight to hear exhibitors enjoying the day with applause and support in abundance. A few exhibitors were showing for the first time, and I do hope that they will be encouraged and supported by fellow exhibitors.

Lagotto Romagnolo.

Puppy (1)

1. Dickenson Shelanio In The Mood. 6 month old puppy, the right size for age, lovely coat of the correct texture emerging, fabulous cheeky disposition, good depth to body and strong correct dentition, sound on the move, did very well at the first attempt. BP.

Junior (1,1)

Postgraduate (1)

1. Nelson & Snowdon Rozebottel’s Mario Tronti (Imp NLD) A moderate exhibit scores in rib and body, in first class condition, excellent coat, lovely shape and outline but not standing to best advantage, moved well.

Open (4,1)

1. Nelson Mizani Dioro Over Savio. Older male, super depth to chest, correct proportions, well bent stifles, lovely topline on the stack and move, much to like a quality exhibit who was a pleasure to judge BOB.

2. Nelson Nelbekio Just The Ticket. A more moderate exhibit than 1

Flatcoated Retriever.

Puppy (1)

1. Hollan Flatcharm Regina Phalange. Super quality youngster, really eye catching with a lovely outline, just as good to handle as I anticipated, really scores in forechest and moved very well around the large ring. BP.

Junior (6,2)

1. Karlsson Flatterhaft Santa Ines (ATC). 12-month-old male has to be handled to be fully appreciated, scores in body and bone, super outline and didn’t disappoint on the move, just lack a little maturity to take BOB but his time will come. RBOB.

2. Whitaker Jetstarkski Run Like Hell. A quality bitch unlucky to meet 1, a little longer in body than 1 but not incorrect, lovely head and a melting expression, good correct coat, showed very well.

Graduate (11,5)

1. Sullivan Wyrebeck Shockwave. 2-year-old male, scores in outline, lovely correct hard topline, scores in depth of chest and presence of forechest, just the right amount of bone, moved well but lacked a touch of enthusiasm.

2. Leavy Wychwizard Painted Lady. Longer in body that 1, super coat, balanced and moderate fore and rear, scores in head and expression, shown in good order with a lovely attitude.

Postgraduate (5,1)

1. Burroughs I Know Him So Well At Rockaness JW. A mature chap, stronger in head than some, but male all through, typical in outline, well off for coat, another one so lacked a little something on the move today, perhaps the heat was a little overwhelming.

2. Sullivan Wyrebeck Shes My Sunshine. Lighter in eye than 1, right amount of bone and a good size, would prefer a touch more length of leg to complete the picture, gave a good sound account on the move.

Limit (5,2)

1. Leavy Hopevalley Morning Sunshine Over Wychwizard. A petite bitch, won on movement with a long easy ground covering pace, balanced throughout and in good coat, lovely head and expression.

2. Sullivan Wyrebeck Caught By Surprise. Upstanding male, little heavier in head than 1, presented in first class order, another one struggling a touch in the heat regrettably, stood well, a little lacking on the move today.

Open (6)

1. Whitakker Sh Ch Evening Mist Black Brianta (Imp Cze). 7-year-old took my eye immediately, super topline, lovely kind dark eye, good head and moved freely and easily and was the cleanest coming and going by some margin. Pleased to award him BOB and not surprised to learn he has his title.

2. Ramunno Flatcharm Serious Pig. Lovely shape and type, scores in the rear quarters with good muscle, a little one that suffered in the heat, but pushed 1 all the way, much to like and on another day could change places.

Labrador Retriever.

Puppy Dog (2)

1. Hodge Naiken Island Hopping (AI). A lovely balanced puppy with the most pleasing of dispositions, balanced fore and rear with plenty of bone, moved easily, coat correct and a lovely expression BP over his litter sister, look forward to watching this one mature. Was later awarded PG1.

2. Young Fourjays Comets Carnival. Heavier in head than 1 a little higher on leg however, lovely dark eye, really used himself on the move and drove from his rear quarters, much to like - a quality pup.

Junior Dog (2)

1. Baron Landebrec Ventura. Preferred the outline on this chap, scores in bone and body, moved well, shoulders well back, scores coming and going, good correct coat.

2. Smith Binnaig Sea Barnacle On Flyenpyg JW. The head on this one appealed particularly, skull typically broad with just the right amount of stop, a little longer in body than some, moved soundly and purposefully and gave the impression of being able to go all day, tail carriage on the move cost him the class win today.

Graduate Dog (9,3)

1. Baron Landebec Ventura. As above.

2. Clare Oakhouse Otto Trot. Well made gent, appealing head and expression, well off for bone, moderate angles but balanced nonetheless, shoulders well back, shown in good order, tail carriage a touch high.

Limit Dog (9,3)

1. Smith Flyenpyg Jurgen Chopp JW. 17 month old exhibit has a tendency to stand looking a little short in body but on closer inspection, he was pleasing to handle, his head and expression appealed, shoulders well back with a complimentary bend of stifle. Would just like a touch more length of leg

2. Bailey Harrop Ravenheart Of Marlucove. My apologies my notes for this exhibit are missing so I write from memory. Pleasing exhibit that fought hard for his place, super coat, great attitude, and wanting to best his best foot forward in spite of the heat. Good to handle and pushed 1 all the way, moved around the large ring with considerable ease.

Open Dog (5,3)

1. Smith Flyenpyg Porky Pig JW OSW. Veteran male with the most wonderful temperament showing to full advantage, just the right amount of stop, good angles, super coat, good depth and correct ribs. Pleased to award him BD in the challenge where he was determined not be outdone.

2. Malone Mossland Majorero. Showed well and in good condition, correct tail set and carriage on the stack and move, lovely tight feet, showed well, moved around the ring soundly and enthusiastically.

Puppy Bitch (9,3)

1. Hodge Naiken Inspiral (AI). An exciting puppy headed this strong class of promising youngsters, a sweet natured girl, she is more moderate than her littermate, appreciated the strength of her topline for one so young, lovely head of correct proportions. Showed beautifully.

2. Brackner Haselorhill High Society For Brupurhat. Pushed 1 all the way, not quite holding the topline of 1 today, otherwise they may have changed places, balance and of good size and outline, she was active and sound on the move, another with full to the brim of early promise.

Junior Bitch (7,4)

1. Brambles Shaymilony Saucy Olive. Not the biggest of bitches, but I preferred to her head to 2, she has adequate bone and is balanced, liked her for type, moved well in the heat, excellent condition.

2. Baron Landebrec Villanelle. A quality exhibit, I just wish she had a little more stop, she is balanced moderate and of lovely size and shape, scores in topline and didn’t disappoint on the move.

Graduate Bitch (9,5)

1. Dodd Carriegame Love To Dance (AI). 2-year-old bitch a bit unassuming but she is good size with a hard topline, pleasing appealing head, she is balanced and well proportioned, shown in good condition and showed well.

2. Brambles Shaymiloney Sausy Olive. As above.

Limit Bitch (7)

1. Rawlinson & Balshaw Halshimoor Perfect Pitch At Shanorrell. 3-year-old exhibit, I was thrilled to find her, I adored her outline, is balanced, of good size, feminine but with a robustness that made me certain she could go all day, lovely neck into well made shoulders, she moved around the ring retaining her outline, with some ease BB and BOB.

2. Collins Foxrush Joyfull JW. A happy and laid-back exhibit really scores in upper arm, super coat in fabulous condition, moved very well, just not quite the finish of 1, but fought hard and was a pleasure to handle.

Open Bitch (7,4)

1. Baron Mariank Vanity Fair At Landebec. An unassuming exhibit, scores in body, with correct tail set and carriage the kindest of eyes, adding to a lovely expression, lovely outline and shape and moved well, unlucky to meet the limit winner today.

2. Gannaway-Jones Scarisbrick Skyfall Into Mossland. Lively outgoing exhibit with much to like, lower in leg than some, really scores in body and rib and was sound and purposeful on the move
