Coalville & District Canine Society

Breed: Retriever (Flat Coated)

Coalville & District Canine Society – 11th January 2025

Flatcoated Retrievers

I would like to thank Coalville & District Canine Society for the invitation to judge at their show. I am very fortunate to have such a lovely entry of dogs and want to thank all exhibitors for entering on the day. Especially those who battled the cold weather conditions to the show. Many thanks also to my steward Shelly who kept the ring running smoothly.

Puppy (9/1)

1. Maddouse Never Too Much. Nearly 8 months old bitch. Sweet head with kind dark eyes. Head well set into neck. Gradual spring of rib with correct topline. Moderately balanced throughout. She moved soundly fore and aft. So together for her age, she has a promising future ahead. BP.

2. Telurn Ghost of You for Hazeyvasey. 6 month old dog. Beautiful one-piece head leading into clean forechest. Well made in the ribs, loin and topline. Moved with great character and ease. His frame is there, and he’ll fill in time as he matures.

Junior (2/0)

1. Telurn Ghost of You to Hazeyvasey. See Puppy 2.

2. Ronevorg Can I Be Famous for Namtresa. 15 month old bitch. Pleasant head. Correct lay of shoulder. Deep chest and rib, with lovely angles throughout. Great substance. Moves out well on good legs and feet. She certainly makes her handler work with her enthusiastic character.

Graduate (7/1)

1. Hurstclough Night Owl at Flanova. 2 and a half year old dog. A dog who I’ve had the pleasure of judging as a puppy and knew he had a bright future. Pleasing masculine head with dark eyes and a kind expression. Chest deep, well ribbed, holding his topline effortlessly leading to moderate hindquarters. He was in great condition all round, groomed with care. Moved with great drive covering the ground with ease. Handled well, I can see him getting even more top awards in his career ahead. BOB and shortlisted in the group.

2. Vynesbrook Hobson’s Choice. Nearly two year old dog. Pleasing head leading down to well laid back shoulders. Loin short and square, into well muscled rear. Good quality coat. Moved out soundly with great purpose.

Postgraduate (9/2)

1.  Dora at Harmarlanda. 3 year old bitch. Kind head and expression. True forequarters leading into firm topline, well ribbed with great bone and substance. So balanced throughout. Her coat well groomed. Hindquarters well-muscled which compliments her correct rear movement. Covered the ring effortlessly.

2. Kulawand Cartier. Two year old bitch who is feminine throughout. Nicely moulded head, set on good neck. Deep chest, level topline and lovely feet. Great coat condition. A little reluctant to give her all standing and on the move.

Open (8/3)

1. Vynesbrook Deja Bleu. 5 year old bitch. This girl oozed femineity! Classical elegant head with a lovely melting expression. Clean neck leading into true forequarters. Well ribbed with a gradual spring. Level topline to pleasing rear quarters. She was in fine coat and muscle condition, a credit to her owner. She moved freely with great drive around the ring. RBOB.

2. Windyhollows Ragged Robin JW. 3 year old dog. Kind masculine head, well set into a deep chest. Great bone of quality throughout, although on the day I felt he was carrying some extra weight. Level topline. Moderate bend of stifle into correct hindquarters. He moved with drive.
