SOUTH WEST DURHAM CANINE SOCIETY – 8 FEBRUARY 2025

I enjoyed judging at this friendly and well organised show. Many thanks to Tommy, my steward.

SKYE TERRIER – OPEN - (3 – 1 AB)

1. TAYLOR – RISKERYTREE RUARIDH AT BILLKENSTAR – maturing nicely, masculine, proportioned head, pleasing earset, dark eyes with a good scissor bite. Balanced in outline, level back, good bone and a well presented coat. Moved well. BOB

2. TAYLOR – VERUMAMICUS DRUSUS – nice length of neck, good ribs and a level topline. Balanced in appearance and size. Good bite, dark eyes and proportioned head. Coat still to mature, nicely presented.

CAIRN TERRIER – OPEN – (2 – 1 AB)

1. DODDS – DROVERLAW FOLLOW MY SHADOW – proportioned head, good bite and correct erect ears. Straight front with good bone, level topline and nice tail carriage. Good angulation, moved well both ways. BOB

WEST HIGHLAND WHITE TERRIER – OPEN – 2

1. BELL – MAXMADADH MIDSUMMER MOJITO – nice for size, level topline and good tail carriage. Nice length of neck and correct ribs. Moved with drive in rear movement, front not as positive. BOB

2. BELL – MAXMADADH MILA MARIPOSA – feminine head, good bite and erect ears. Pleasing bone, strong loin and level back. Failed in movement to winner.

AV IMPORTED BREED REGISTER TERRIER – PUPPY – 0

AV IMPORTED BREED REGISTER TERRIER – OPEN – 0

AV NSC TERRIER – PUPPY – 2

1. VALLEALLY – BOKOPPIE BLACK STAR – SCOTTISH TERRIER – proportioned head, dark eyes and black nose. Nice ear carriage, good neck, ribs and front Pleasing topline and tail set. Muscled throughout, moved well both ways. BP AVNSC

2. ARMSTRONG AND LAWRENCE – ELANTIZ BUTTER WOULDN’T MELT – NORWICH TERRIER – Feminine head, erect ears. Compact and sturdy in appearance, Presented in good coat and condition. Nice bone and rear angulation. Preferred the front movement of the winner.

AV NSC TERRIER POST GRADUATE – (1 – 1AB)

AVNSC TERRIER – OPEN – (3 – 1 AB)

1. DAVIS-BROWN – WYSTRY AGONY AND ECSTASY – MANCHESTER TERRIER – masculine head, nice ear set, good mouth and wedge shaped head. Narrow straight front, good markings. Hindquarters were strong and muscular. Coat was short and glossy. Moved well BOB AV NSC

2. HEARD - KILTONTHORPE JONNY FOX WITH LOUWAB – BULL TERRIER (MINIATURE) – pleasing expression, good erect ears. Was compact in appearance with good bone and in good toned condition. Body was rounded and thighs were muscular. Showed well.

TERRIER GROUP

1. HANES – JANMARK THE NAME OF THE GAME JW – BEDLINGTON TERRIER – balanced in appearance, feminine head, jaw was long and tapering, sparkling eyes with a large nose. Ears were a nice size, neck was nicely tapering. Chest was deep with flat ribs. Good arch over the loin. Hindquarters were a moderate length. Moved well both ways TG1.

2. GRIFFITHS – BROCOLITIA AURORA – WFT – excellently presented, lively and active exhibit. Proportioned skull and foreface, Nice V shaped ears , sparkling dark eyes and black nose. Muscular neck and well laid shoulders. Good bone and feet, strong back and loin. Hindquarters toned. Moved well. TG2

PUPPY TERRIER GROUP

1. Bokoppie Black Star PTG1

2. LAWRENCE AND SCRIMGEOUR – COMALEGY LADY OF THE HOUSE WITH FAIDHAICH – BORDER TERRIER – Blue and Tan with ticking evident. Feminine head, good bite. Pelt was a good thickness and coat was harsh. Moved ok. Would prefer a stronger muzzle and a tad more bone. PTG2

3. HALL – GEORDIESTAFF LOCAL HERO – SBT – Well up to size, broad head with a distinct stop, dark eyes and a good bite / Neck was muscular and hindquarters toned. Coat was smooth and short. Moved ok. PTG3

AV TERRIER JUNIOR- (6 – 3 AB)

1. BENNETT – SIKAISTAFF THUG ROSE – SBT – nice size, proportioned feminine head, good ear carriage, dark eyes and a good bite. Straight front with correct bone. She has a deep brisket with well sprung ribs. Presented in a good glossy, short coat. Moved well both ways.

AV TERRIER POST GRADUATE – (8 – 5 AB)

1. STROTHER – BEACONPIKE ADONIS – BORDER TERRIER – otter shaped head with a strong muzzle and scissor bite. Good bone and feet, straight front. Has a thick pelt and presented in a good harsh coat. Was spannable, strong loin and carrot shaped tail. Moved ok.

3. LAWRENCE AND SCRIMGEOUR – COMALEGY THE COUNTESS WITH FAIDHAICH JW – BORDER TERRIER

AV TERRIER -OPEN (1 – 1 AB)

1. GRIFFITHS – BROCOLITIA POINT OF FIRE ShCM SHCEX VW – lovely masculine head, good ear set. Proportioned head, nice length of neck and good lay of shoulders. Correct ribs, level back and strong loin. Presented in good coat and condition. On his toes and enjoying his day out. Moved well. BV

2. DODDS – BIRESLAW RUBY SLIPPERS – CAIRN TERRIER = Nice shaped head, good erect ears and dark eyes. Correct scissor bite, straight front, good bone and feet. Loin was strong, back was straight with a good tail. Moved soundly.
