HUNTINGDON CANINE SOCIETY

16 AUGUST 2025

I would like to thank the Committee for their kind invitation, and my stewards especially, for their long day in the ring. It was a day of a few setbacks for the Society but they continued to put on a positive face for all the exhibitors and judges. I would also like to thank my exhibitors and apologize for their long wait to get into the ring. It was not the fault of the Committee, and I really appreciated all those who stayed and gave me the opportunity to judge their dogs. Thank you.

ENGLISH SETTER

P 4(2)

1. Neath’s Albadora Total Madness. Almost a year old b/b, very promising youngster, already very mature in body. Correct proportions in head, wouldn’t want flew any stronger, masculine but kind expression, excellent feet and straight bone, lovely angulation in front, was well ribbed up and strong in topline. Was the more positive on the move here. RBOB & BP.

2. Parrish’s Tawnymeade Moonflower. Very feminine 11 month tri bitch, lovely head and soft expression, good feet and bone, well bodied and in good coat. Looking a little long in loin today, but plenty of time to develop further.

J 3(2)

1. Kerr’s Latjeata Angel Blue. Not long out of puppy this b/b girl has a lovely outline, very pretty head, with correct muzzle to skull ratios. Good stop. Liked her front angulation but perhaps a bit more in rear to balance. Pasterns need to strengthen but that will come. Good depth to chest and in nice coat and condition. Flowed well round the rind in profile holding her topline.

PG 1(0)

1. McLoughlin’s Arabin Love Maybe. 2.5 year old b/b bitch. Muzzle is slightly long in balance to skull. Good eye and ear set. Excellent front angulation but would prefer more strength and width thru rear. Well sprung ribs. In lovely coat and condition. Not striding out today compared to others.

O 1(0)

1. McLoughlin’s Arabin Silver Panda. Mature tri bitch 4 years old. Sweet head and expression with dark eyes She had a balanced outline with good angles front and rear. Good bone and feet. Excellent depth thru brisket and well sprung ribs. Held her topline on the move and drove from her strong quarters with a free and easy ground covering stride. BOB.

AVNSC GUNDOG

J 4(0)

1. Norbury/Adkins’ Bedeslea Pradasphere. Lagotto Romagnolo. Reserve Best AVNSC. I really like this youngster and previously had my hands on her in a Puppy Group where she was placed. Correct proportions all through, head planes, eye and stop. Such a nice expression. Good coat texture and curls. Straight hocks and moved soundly. Her best is yet to come.

2. Macbain/Brewer’s Fecimus Repeat The Rumour. Spaniel (Field). Another nice one, with so much to like. Correct outline being rectangular, good quarters, bone and feet. Length of loin as required. Really strode out well. Such a feminine pretty head. Again, should do well.

3. Benge’s Wahnahnish St Gilles (imp NLD). Spaniel (Clumber).

PG 3(2)

1. Macbain/Brewer’s Fecimus Repeat The Rumour. Repeat.

O 5(2)

1. McDonald’s Roanjora Crémant D’Alsace JW. Irish Red and White Setter. Best AVNSC and G2. Have judged before and have not changed my opinion. Very feminine but still with that workmanlike outlook, not racy. Correct breadth of skull to muzzle and length of muzzle to stop. Such a pretty head. Well angled front and excellent forechest. Chest to elbows, held her topline on the move and driving from well bent quarters. Shown in lovely condition with perfect colouring. Was delighted to learn she has recently achieved her Sh Ch title and well deserved.

2. Latheron/Trenchard’s Sh Ch. Fynder Reacher ShCEx. Spaniel (Irish Water). Another quality exhibit. Fully mature, in full coat of correct texture and curls. Handsome head, so typy and masculine, almond dark eyes and low set ears. Well boned straight forelegs with large feet. Well angled front, held his topline, and enough angulation behind. Unfortunately unsettled on the day so don’t feel I saw him at his best.

3. Capps’ Oakmarsh Indian Dream Maker. Retriever (Chesapeake Bay).

AV IMPORTED BREED REGISTER GUNDOG

SY 2(0)

1. Jordan/Fletcher’s Novaforesta Tender. Barbet. A first for me to judge this delightful breed. Both were shown correctly in rustic presentation with excellent coat textures, curls, and full beards. Feminine 16 month brown bitch with a lovely expression, Short neck, moderate angles, and moved ok. Just needs to develop in body but has time. Sympathetically handled.

2. White/Haill’s Agualeona’s Bijoux Delphin. Barbet. Just over 12 months B/W bitch. Lovely head, dark eye, correct shorter muzzle to skull length and ear set. Just not as confident as 1 today and needs to strengthen behind.

O 3(0)

1. Boreham’s Aligngriffs Hawfinch. Korthals Griffon. Typy 5 year old bitch, medium in size and slightly longer in body than height. Harsh coat. Correct head proportions with rounded brown eyes. Parallel planes and well covered with longer hair, eyebrows and beard. Well laid shoulders and moderate quarters. Moved out well. Best Import Reg.

2. Sladden’s Khyannes Villette at Canemamans ShCEx (imp HUN). Braque D’Auvergne. Have judged this B/W 6 year old bitch a couple of years ago and liked her then. My comments remain the same, and she has matured well. Correct outline, strong topline just falling away at croup, good bone and feet. Well angled front and rear with lovely neck into shoulders. Feminine head of good length, ear set below level of eyes. Just not very happy today.

3. White/Haill’s Agualeona’s Bijoux Delphin.

1. Brown/Filby’s Desjiem Rebel Rebel (AI). German Shorthaired Pointer. 7 month old very feminine bitch. Lots to like about this one. Balanced in outline for one so young. Typy head with excellent neck into shoulders, nice bone and compact feet. A sound and scopey mover. Should do very well. PG3

2. Johnston’s Glenquin Phantom. Gordon Setter. 11 month bitch, maturing well. Correct head proportions, deep rather than broad, but still developing and needs to round off in skull. Arched neck into shoulders, good depth of brisket, level topline and nice short tail. Good colour and nice coat coming. Straight coming and away on the move. PG4

3. Davis’ Lynste Dream Boy (AI). Retriever (Golden).

2. McQuade’s Maddouse Diamonds R’Forever. Retriever (Flat Coated). 14 month bitch. Nice outline, quarters and depth of brisket are already evident. Caught my eye on the move with her soundness today, using the ring well.

PG 10(4)

1. Spavins/Chevalier’s Weipowa Wild Flush for Ashstem. Weimaraner. 19 month bitch with a feminine head with moderate stop and evident median line. Correct ear length and shape. Good angulation in front and balanced to rear. Arched toes. Good depth of brisket and spring of rib. Would prefer a less steep croup. Moved well.

2. McQuade’s Gemswin River of Dreams. Retriever (Flat Coated). 4 year old bitch, liked her outline, correct in length of ribs but not long in couplings. Nicely moulded head, into arched strong neck. Good bone and feet. Very nice quarters with width and well-muscled, which showed in her movement. A little out of coat today.

3. Wallington’s Ferndel Renzo at Rovinjdal. Spaniel (Welsh Springer).

1. Barham’s Droveborough’s Mocha Mayhem. Pointer. 5 year old L/W bitch. Tidy outline. Good head defined stop, leathers thin, correct set on. Lengthy neck into nice shoulders. Slight slope to pasterns, well arched toes but would like a more oval shape. Well bent stifles and good tail length. Moved well using tail.

GUNDOG GROUP

G1Brown/Filby’s Sh Ch. Winterwell Thatlldo for Desjiem JW. German Shorthaired Pointer. Not surprised to see this 5 year old bitch carries her title. Her clean outline and breed type screams quality. In gleaming coat and condition. Feminine head and expression, arched neck into the best of shoulders and return of upper arm. Well ribbed up and back into strong loin and well-muscled quarters. Drove round the ring in style.

G2McDonald’s Roanjora Crémant D’Alsace JW. Irish Red and White Setter.

G3Romeo-Dieste’s Hopevalley Morning Rainbow JW. Retriever (Flat Coated).

G4Connolly’s Roughshoot Tiffin. Hungarian Vizsla. Not quite 2 year old bitch. Was not in my eye on my first look round, but as the Group progressed I kept coming back to her. Unexaggerated and well balanced. Head lean with moderate stop and square muzzle. Good forehand, withers higher and good depth. Moderate rear and well-muscled. Moved well, but not the most relaxed in the stack which will come.

GUNDOG PUPPY GROUP

PG1Weyman’s Spuffing Bellini. Spaniel (English Springer). Caught my eye from the first move round. So correct and sound. Just made it into Puppy by one day. Elegant outline and so balanced fore and aft. Beautiful head with correct planes and chiseling. Sweet expression, correct almond eye and ear set adding to her quality. Super topline and tailset. Broad thru quarters and well let down hocks used on the move. Look forward to following her career, should make up easily.

PG2Barham’s Droveborough Witchy Woman. Pointer. 10 month L/W bitch with a classy curvy outline already apparent. Lovely head with good stop and clean cheeks. Well set on fine leathers. Arched neck into good shoulders, strong topline and tailset. Another promising prospect.

PG3Brown/Filby’s Desjiem Rebel Rebel (AI). German Shorthaired Pointer.

PG4Johnston’s Glenquin Phantom. Gordon Setter.
