German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Scotland

German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Scotland Open Show

19th October 2025

It was a pleasure and an honour to be invited to judge this friendly show in such a picturesque location.

Dogs

Yearling (1)

1 Angus’ Edelmidpoint Native River Through Calmerell

I liked the overall proportions of this 19-month old lad. Correct in head with good width and length to both the back skull and muzzle. Intelligent and alert expression. He is straight in front and has good width to his chest. Well ribbed back and firm over his loins. He has good rear angulation and was shown in good body and coat. Moved well enough in the space available. Res Best Dog.

Post Grad (2,1 abs)

1 Edelmidpoint Native River Through Clamerell

Limit (1)

1 McMurdo’s Ceilloch Express

At 2 years is coming together nicely. Well-proportioned head with good eye colour. He has a good reach of neck and straight front legs together with decent feet. He has plenty of length to his ribs but I found him to be a little long in loin. He has moderate rear angulation with good width to his thighs.

Open (3,1)

1 Mann’s Sh Ch Elfrindew Endrick to Valger

Mature boy looking so well on the stack. Well developed head of good width. He has a good length of foreface and kind dark eyes. Well-constructed front with good layback of shoulder and plenty of bone without coarseness. He is well ribbed with plenty of depth and correct width. He has firm loins and short couplings which give a correct top line and balance to his outline. Strong quarters showing width to his thighs and well angulated stifles. He moved steady and true. Best Dog and Best In Show. A worthy Champion.

2 McCafferty’s Thorscrag Hades

Strongly made through. He has a good head with alert expression. Straight front legs lead to compact feet of good shape. He has a good reach of neck and good depth to his body. Not the top line of the winner. He too, moved well in the available ring space.

Bitches

Minor Puppy (1)

1 Wilkinson’s Zarazinia Carn Tuille

Very promising 8 months. She is well balanced for her age and has plenty of virtues. Balanced head with plenty of shape, dark eyes and a good bite. She is well made in front with sloping shoulders, straight legs and lovely compact feet. She is well bodied with short couplings and good width to her quarters. Well-turned stifles and short from hock to heel allow her to move effectively. Best Puppy.

Junior (2,1)

1 Stewart’s Magregor Take It All Off Levagrad

Just 13 months old. Pleasing head which should improve further as she develops. Well placed ears. She has a good reach of neck and well angulated shoulders. Firm in top line. She has good rear angulation and moved with reach.

Yearling (1)

1 Winkler’s Chevinpoint Lime Meadow

A little wary and hesitant today but still plenty to like here. Well shaped head, straight front legs with good bone and tight feet. She has good depth for her 18 months. Good coat texture and level top line when stacked. She did not use herself fully on the move but deserved her win.

Post Grad (3,2)

1 Ryan’s Magregor Peppermint Moon

Balanced in head with plenty of shape. Kind and intelligent in eye. She is well balanced in body with firm top line and well-muscled quarters. Good width to her thighs and well turned stifles. She has a good tail set on the stack. Moved well from both ends. Plenty to like here.

Limit (4,1)

1 Mann’s Valger Symphony

Presented a lovely outline when stood and was good to go over. Well shaped head with dark brown eyes and well placed ears. She has good bone and straight front legs which lead to nicely angulated shoulders. Her elbows are well tucked in. Good width to her front. She is well ribbed and firm over the loins. Plenty of rear angulation she has strong square hocks. Moved steadily but true. RBB.

2 Tait’s Benboee Beeloved

Standing a little taller than the winner, she is still balanced through. Well boned, she has a strong neck of good length. Well ribbed through. In good coat condition.

3 Maclean’s Richtig Ritz Fizz

Open (4,1)

1 Barnett’s Sh Ch Magregor Howl To The Moon over Tibertich

Not surprised to find that she carries her title. Balanced in outline, both standing and on the move. So good to go over with nothing exaggerated. Well shaped head with kind eyes and strong foreface of good length. Well placed ears, carried correctly. Strong clean neck of good length flows into well angulated shoulders. Ribs are well sprung and have good depth. Strong over her loins, she has a good tail set giving a correct topline. Plenty of width to her thighs and well turned stifles complete the picture. Moving accurately with both reach and extension. I awarded her BB and RBIS.

2 Tait’s Benboee Beelieve

A little more upright but still balanced. Well shaped head with good ear placement. Strong neck and good lay back of shoulder. Straight well boned in front with good length and depth to her ribs. Decent rear angulation.

3 Stewart’s Sh Ch Magregor Amourette Avec Levagrad

Field Trial (1)

1 Monie’s Myles Blue Drimmie at Stanehus

Mature and true moving five year old. A little narrower in head than some. She has correct bite. Well ribbed with enough depth and good length. She is well angulated behind.

Special Beginners (3)

1 Blair’s Amblairfield Flymaamlewan

Presented a balanced outline standing. Well shaped head with good width to her skull. Straight front legs with correct bone. Strong neck leading to well laid shoulders. She has a great top line with firmness over the loins and good tail set. The better mover in this class. She was shown with plenty of body.

2 Richtig Ritz Fizz

Third in the limit class and not making life easy for her young handler. Balanced in head, she has wide nostrils and dark brown eyes. Well ribbed with good bend of stifle. Just unsettled on the move.
