Special Award Classes at Open Show

Judge – Mrs Jane Eyeington

I would like to thank the officers and committee for their kind invitation to judge the ‘special award classes’ at the Open Show. A huge thank you to the exhibitors for the pleasure of your lovely dogs.

Junior Dog or Bitch (8,5)

1. Morley & Hitchcock - Justacharma Magic Trix For Lizlanmor

Shapely outline on this 17-month-old lightly marked tri bitch. She still has a lot of maturing to do, but the framework is all there. Compact in her outline when standing. Such a pretty, feminine head, nicely domed, with a soft and gentle expression. Starting to fill in throughout the body, with good width in front, enough depth to the brisket, short in the loin, and with a nice bend of stifle. Holding her topline both stood and on the move, tail set a fraction lower. Moved out purposefully

2. Miss & Mrs Rutherford - Rignolla Devon Dreamer With Potbelli

Keen and alert 9-month-old Blenheim girl, with a well-broken coat. She still has a lot of maturing ahead of her, but the bone structure is there. I appreciated her overall size and shape; she appears slightly longer at present than the winner but is still nicely balanced. She has a pretty, feminine head with a well-domed skull, a short, plush muzzle, and a large dark eye. Although she needs time to fill out, she maintains a firm, level topline. On the move, needing to tighten in front, but she demonstrated good drive, and was working well with her handler.

3. Miss Maddison - Mitapip Macallan

Post Graduate Dog or Bitch (6,3)

1. Mrs Dunford - Headra’s Bruce

Appealing 2-year-old tri-coloured dog showing himself off to advantage. He has a balanced head with a domed skull and a short foreface, his muzzle has a pleasing plushness. His large, dark, inquisitive eyes and low-set ears frame his face beautifully. He possesses a good length of neck that flows into a firm topline. I liked his forechest and depth, with a good spring to the ribcage, although he is a fraction longer in the loin. He stands on well-boned limbs with neat feet and moves confidently with good footfall, whilst maintaining his outline. He is well presented in a silky coat.

2. Mrs Abbott - Helmajon Clara’s Romance

Happy and enthusiastic 4-year-old Blenheim bitch. She is of a nice size and a relatively compact build. Her pretty head features a nicely domed skull, large dark eyes set well apart, a short cushioned muzzle, and low-set ears, all of which enhance her charm. She has good bone structure for her size and, while not quite the spring of rib, she maintains a lovely firm topline and an ever-wagging tail. Although a bit erratic in her movement today, she certainly moves with purpose and drive.

3. Mr & Mrs Graves - Mitapip Jackfash Macduff

Open Dog or Bitch (5,3)

1. Miss Morley - Baldragon Dream Chaser At Lizlanmor JW

A smart and outgoing 20-month-old Tri-coloured dog, who is a little more heavily marked but looks a picture on the stack. He is of a nice size, compact and has a lovely flow to his outline. I admired his headpiece, which features a pleasing dome and a short muzzle with wide nostrils. His muzzle is nicely cushioned, and he has a strong underjaw. His large, dark eyes give him a particularly appealing expression. A good length of neck transitioning seamlessly into a firm topline. He is developing nicely throughout his body and shows harmonious angulation both in front and behind. It is a pleasure to watch him move; he is free and positive in his gait, with a proud carriage.

2. Mrs Abbott - Helmajon Rhapsody In Blue

Happy and confident 4-year-old tri-coloured dog has a different build compared to the winner, being more robust overall. He has a masculine head, large dark eyes, and low-set ears that give him an endearing expression. His body is well-developed with depth in the brisket and forechest, a good spring to the ribcage, and he is slightly longer in the loin. He maintains a firm and level topline. His markings are well broken and attractive, complemented by a straight, silky coat. He moves well in profile, though he is not quite as tidy in front as the winner today. The owner is to be commended for his muscle tone.
